Honestly if I made a multiplayer game - especially in a niche or monopolised genre like platform fighters - and there wasn't some uber-large marketing campaign, I wouldn't include Quickplay at all, just lobbies.
As much as I dislike the Qualitipedia sites, I do feel kinda bad that they had to close due to being mistaken for having an affiliation with their site hosts.

Speaking of the Muppets and crossovers, this little fact - in the context of NASB - makes me feel how Banjo fans must've felt back in Brawl.
You could make a legitimate, non-ironic argument for Muppet Babies being the "most ambitious crossover of all time" - it was made by Marvel and Toei, and featured clips from Donkey Kong; Ghostbusters; Star Wars; Indiana Jones; Teen Wolf; E.T.; Weird Al Yankovic; and Star Trek among others - also the popularity of its Attack of the Killer Tomatoes spoof was what got the animated adaptation greenlit, meaning Muppet Babies also has the Smash effect
The Wise Mystical Tree meme reminds me of the tree from "Everything's Rosie".
There's quite an appeal to 4 or 8-character multiplayer game roster, like they're objectively worse than a 20+ character roster but a small selection pool means pretty much every player will have a top favourite character instead of like 7.
You could easily take the soundtrack of this game, post it as a .rar to 4chan with all the filenames set to "*noun*_KNIGHT_DEMO.wav" and everyone would absolutely believe you that they're leaked music from a new Shovel Knight game
Does anyone remember Moshi Monsters? It was this sort of advanced, way cuter Neopets from the early 10s, and it was absolutely HUGE - a movie, best-selling DS games, books, blind bags, commercials in every ad break, soft drinks, Burger King toys, a celebrity lawsuit - it was 90s Pokémon-level big... in the UK and Australia near-exclusively. How does that even happen? Not only was it a centralised age, but also an internet-centric brand anyway!

I actually think Hotel Mario would be a fitting end to SMSB for non-meme reasons, considering how much Mario and Smash fan content has been incorporated into SMSB, it'd be quite nice, poetic even, to end what is basically (in the context of it's own universe) a giant tribute - if not apology - to the fandom with a character who's only really a seperate character at all because of fan content.

After playing Slap City, I find it even more ridiculous that people call NASB "derivative" of Smash - Slap City is a game I'm pretty comfortable calling a "Smash clone" (non-derogatory), if you're playing casually the only real mechanical difference is the single Air Smash each character has, the differences lie beneath the surface for hardcore players to discover - NASB, on the other hand, is almost as mechanically distant from Smash (modern or golden age) as you can get without doing some PSASBR "only supers kill" BS, only behind Rivals.

I honestly don't think a Gex trilogy remake is a good idea, mostly because the version of TV depicted in Gex is extremely outdated to the current media landscape, not a problem on it's own (maybe part of the charm even), but when combined with the fact that Gex is known for quoting and referencing media you're left at a crossroads - either have him make the old references to Gilligan's Island and Happy Days that nobody in the T-rating demographic will get anymore, or have him make new references to Rick & Morty and Stranger Things without the game world acknowledging streaming is a thing. The fact the first game is a 2D platformer and the series contains some kinda racist character designs also hurts the idea a little (the latter wasn't an issue for Crash though)
That being said, an all-new Gex game? Bring it on!
Hugh's release tagline in NASB is really lame - "Hugh ducks in?" what does that even mean? At least go for like, "Hugh ducks and covers!"

I don't know what to make of Bigmode. I think I'll have to wait until they release their first few games. The "strict quality control" could either be disasterous or brilliant. I certainly don't doubt the YouTube funnyman's ability to run this sort of thing, it's not good to pigeonhole, but I also don't want to immediately assume it'll go well because the YouTube funnyman is behind it or there's an anti-NFT rule on their submission forum.

You'd think NASB to Slap City would be a direct downgrade or upgrade, but I don't think it's either. In fact, I'd even be willing to say that, like I've often said about MVS and NASB, it's not fair to compare them. Like, yeah, they run on the same engine, but so do Syphon Filter and Bubsy 3D. (not saying either of these games is a Bubsy 3D parallel of course, just that NASB is not a sequel to Slap)

Modern Smash fans mocking NASB fans for the whole "Smash Killer" thing is kinda hypocritical when they pull the "Melee Killer" schtick at every new game's launch.
TBH I'd prefer Rabbids - as in regular Rabbids, not the Mario ones - in Smash over Rayman. I think a fighter who's entire moveset is randum XD 2009 kiddie jokes would be utterly iconic.
