You'd think NASB to Slap City would be a direct downgrade or upgrade, but I don't think it's either. In fact, I'd even be willing to say that, like I've often said about MVS and NASB, it's not fair to compare them. Like, yeah, they run on the same engine, but so do Syphon Filter and Bubsy 3D. (not saying either of these games is a Bubsy 3D parallel of course, just that NASB is not a sequel to Slap)

I think my biggest regret with SMSB was not having a Bowser's Castle stage included by default with details about it specifically being a later job. I'm not too pleased with how the stage turned out conceptually (no offense, Janx) and even if I did like it it'd be kinda unfair that it only really got in on virtue of being the first submission of an extremely obvious concept - though I will certainly say it's better than the layout I made for the NES Bowser's Castle stage, which I really should've thought out a little more before submitting, reminds me a lot of those cursed Melee beta stages with it's ridiculous hazard and dumb wall placement.

This is an extremely controversial take, even by "criticism of Sonic Mania" standards, but I think the biggest flaw of Mania was the lack of any slow-paced Marble Zone-y stages. I absolutely love those sorts of zones because you can memorise them and eventually play them just as fast as the other zones.

My second biggest problem with Mania is actually a little less controversial but also a little contradictory to what I just said, I feel the bosses. despite their visual spectacle and deep cut throwbacks, are too slow, with no method to get through them faster. (other than iframes, which IMO don't count) Spark the Electric Jester handled fast paced platformer bosses better IMO.

I had a dream where I modded a Wii and it had the option to Wonder Trade mod packs - I ended up with a Brawl mod that contained Staryu (as a Kirby model swap IIRC), Pink Gold Peach (who was actually just a transparent PNG of Pink Gold Peach copy-pasted over Peach's model), and an original character named "Powdered Shoe Man" (which was Powdered Toast Man's NASB model with his head replaced with a faceless shoe, and the textures of his clothes changed to look like dilapidated bug-infested carpets. He was a Captain Falcon model swap). For some reason the BGM of mod trading was the sad music from Mario Galaxy - fittingly so, because the mod was built off of vBrawl and not PM.

It's weird how animation is the only medium where "adult" and "kid" need to be categorised so heavily. Like, no live action TV show is announced by calling itself "a brand new adult show!" (unless it's porn at least), and nobody makes YouTube compilations of "Every swear in E.T.!" like they would for Regular Show.
