As much as I love the idea of a non-crossover Smash game, I have to admit that snubs would hit a LOT harder. Like imagine if Geno or Waluigi didn't make it in to a Mario-only Smash. There'd be riots on the streets.
I don't really get why anthropomorphic animals having romantic relationships with humans throws people off on a conceptual level, but I can certainly see how Sonic 06 and Bee Movie didn't really do the idea correctly. (the art style clash in 06, and Bee Movie already establishing the lore that bees generally don't talk to humans)
I honestly wish the Pokémon picks in Smash were more biased. I want to be surprised and see the Pokémon the devs wanted but no one else, not the starters Nintendo wants to market and everyone expects.

If there was a Microsoft platform fighter, I feel Banjo should only get an item or two and nothing else, with Conker getting a more major but still non-playable role. I find it so weird that almost every MS Smash fan roster I've seen has both Grunty and Mumbo in them - like, why not just make the Rare roster you want and not shoehorn Master Chief into it?
This is comically specific, but when it comes to a "semi-anthropomorphic, non-vocal quadrupedal dog" fighter in NASB, I'm not sure if I'd prefer Odie; Goddard; or Spunky.
Odie has iconic value and would be a rep for arguably the series most deserving of an extra rep, Goddard is a robot and brings along all the inherent moveset potential of one, and Spunky is not only from my favourite Nicktoon but also is way more cartoony than the other two. All 3 are certified good boys though.
I wonder which Infinite DLC newcomer will be my "I'm the only person who knows anything about this character so all the content will just come from me" - PaRappa or Bubsy come to mind (especially since the prior was this for me on the Parallel Universe thread) - but of realisable characters within Infinite's framework and culture, probably a 3rd Pac-Man/Namco Arcade rep or Tetromino. I'd say Clippy but the Infinite team and players have a vendetta against him and Windows for some reason

The ideal outcome for Smash IMO is that Ultimate is the final game and all the companies involved make their own platform fighters with different gameplay niches.
We are voting on newcomer victory themes and veteran entry animations + submitting Animal Buddy ally contacts (assist trophy); stage builder hazards; stage prompts; and music for Cheese Land!
To this day I think Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is one of the most disappointing rosters in gaming history. They removed the Bonanza Bros; Big; Zobio and Zobiko; AND the ChuChus - utter barbaricism.
So, is Netflix' version of Nimona the same one Blue Sky was working on? And if not, are any of the staff from the original (other than those involved with the original comic) back to work on it?

Double posting rules have honestly made SMSB an absolute slog to manage - having to read entire posts in case there's votes in there; both creating jobs and ending jobs at the same time; it's really tedious now.
Slime Ball (You Can’t Do That on Television!) - a throwing item that becomes smaller; lighter; and weaker the more it’s used
Silver Ball (80s idents) - rolls across the ground like a bowling ball when thrown.
Moon Shoes (Toy) - Lets you jump high, and spike any foe you land on
Time Blaster Alarm Clock (Toy) - used as a grenade of sorts
Magical Bag of Winds (The SpongeBob Movie) - pushes away foes like the Gust Bellows
Spatula (SpongeBob) - flings multiple patties like a Ray Gun in an upwards arc.
Mutagen (TMNT) - Use it to get beefed up power. Coloured yellow to distinguish from slime.
Cynthia (Rugrats) - flies in an upwards arc and spins like a Sky Dancer toy when thrown
Robot Cat (Rugrats) - Throw on the ground and it’ll start walking, it copies your movements by turning whenever you turn and jumping whenever you jump. It never stops moving though.
Mr. Boppo (Rugrats) - punch him and he’ll fly a little backwards, damaging anyone in his path greatly. Make sure to get out of the way in time or else he’ll hit you back.
Fatheads Cheese Chewable Vitamins (Rocko’s Modern Life) - eat one to become a ticking time bomb, creating a powerful explosion that damages everyone near it except yourself at a random time.
Mr. Sensible TV (Rocko’s Modern Life) - a trapping item, foes who get too close after it’s thrown will be so addicted to whatever’s showing that they can’t move and only attack.
Chokey (Chewy?) Chicken (Rocko’s Modern Life) - heals a great amount of damage, but will give a small portion of it back later into the stock
Cheese Ray (Jimmy Neutron) - can turn projectiles into cheese, meaning they’re edible to heal damage, though you’ll have to get them before your foe!
Shrink Ray (Jimmy Neutron) - if you press a button it shoots a laser that either shrinks or grows foes, shrinking functions like a poison mushroom while growing makes foes super heavy and super slow but no more powerful. If you keep it held for a few extra seconds without shooting it will either shrink or grow you - being super powerful but no slower when sized up and super fast but no weaker when sized down
Frosty Freezy Freeze (Fanboy and Chum Chum) - throw it at a foe to give them a brain freeze, which slows their movement
Handy Dandy Notebook (Blue’s Clues) - throw it at a foe to brand them with a Clue, which can then be passed around like hot potato. Whoever has the clue last gets booped by Blue’s paws from offscreen.
Pear Phone (iCarly) - record a foe’s movements, then throw the item at them to make them repeat whatever you recorded (or even another foe to make them repeat the inputs with their moveset) - perfect for exploiting RPS and counter moves!
Somehow I just had another false memory moment related to an early-2000s Disney IP - I was convinced that The Buzz on Maggie's backstory is that the flies became anthropomorphic from nuclear pollution but the show didn't ever use it for either conflict or jokes, but a few fandom Wiki visits later and nope. I made it all up. I have no clue where I got that fake piece of trivia from either, I haven't watched or read any Buzz on Maggie content lately so I don't know how this came to mind.
The Crash games (1 and 4 included) aren't that hard, people are just adjusted to except 3D platformers to be focused around exploration and discovery instead of challenge and precision.
Beating the Pibby glitch is easy: just lure it into the Simpsons universe, trap it in Itchy & Scratchy, everybody just thinks all the cartoons are repeating the same dadaist gag over and over again because the TV shows in the Simpsons universe are already dark, show over, no harm no foul.
The NASB community randomly coming back to life out of nowhere just because a Discord was made public is just the coolest thing.
To this day I'm not sure if the people who defended Scott Cawthon last year's problem was idol worship or just being inable to distinguish "not homophobic/racist" from "anti-homophobia/racism". Probably both.
I was going to do a "Nickelodeon Rejects Brawl" roster for the here's the keys thread, but it turns out Nick rejected way less big cartoons than I expected - the roster I ended up with was basically just "Cartoon Network All-Star Brawl" from a world where Turner acquired The Proud Family; Phineas & Ferb; and VeggieTales.
When it comes to guests in crossover games, I have basically the exact opposite view from most - instead of "do they have a connection to the base company?", it's "would they still make sense if the connection weren't there?". So I'd prefer Chief and Clippy over another Rare rep in Smash; or Shrek and Megamind over the Penguins in NASB (Po is a good pick though)
If Gex had a reboot, I think it'd be pretty cool to - instead of just completely shifting to streaming services - have both a TV world and a streaming world, with the TV versions of stages being barren and mid-apocalyptic, giving it harsher platforming, while the streaming world is more habitable but also uncensored, meaning fiercer enemies and combat to deal with.

For today's SMSB stage job, I was kicking myself for not allowing WarioWare and SM64DS micro/minigames after posting, but honestly once the submissions started coming in I was really glad I made that choice - one of the best submission lineups thus far.
If the Banjo-Threeie GameCube box art was real, it would really show how out-of-touch Nintendo and Rare are with their audience. Showing an underwater level is the worst possible way to market a platformer.
Guess it wouldn't be the first time though.
The reason Sora has normal shoes now is because they had to do a tie-in with Nike to justify doing a Laika crossover

I don't think games that try to shove as many genres in as possible is something people are particularly nostalgic for from the late 90s.
