I've already let the beans spill on tomorrow's SMSB fighter job, so I'll mention this now - I'm really not sure who to submit for it. I want Small Mario (Mario) more, but I feel Blooper Nanny (Olimar) is more at risk of being disconfirmed.

Part of the reason I favour the Windows characters like McZee and Clippy over Rare characters in the context of Smash, a CTR guest grand prix, or other Scrimblo-adjacent Microsoft crossovers is because the Rare characters still have worlds and followings to build games with - the Windows characters only exist because of misinterpreted research and have no place in modern Microsoft products now that they're proven ineffective, and there isn't really a "Windows universe" to make a wacky spin-off out of, so crossovers in games are the only place these really cool and iconic characters could ever thrive now.
I am OK with lazy shortcuts if they make the product better should you ignore the "how" and "why", but Booster Course Pack's graphics is the only recent example example I can think of in gaming.

DAMN they went hard with the twists in this movie - you know the climax of Megamind where it's just twist after twist after twist? Imagine that but it's the entire movie. It's amazing.

I feel that when creation threads allow both game characters and non-game characters, things are often stacked unfairly in gaming's favour due to the nature of this site.
I love the fact that Master Hand isn't banned in competitive Melee because he's worse than Bowser.
Imagine if there was a Family Guy stage play and they had to do a scene change every 2 minutes

I'm personally of the belief that the Mario "main series" consists of the platformers*, Kart, and Party.
*sans the Land duology, Run, and the spotlight games marketed as sequels. I'd probably also be reluctant to count Mario 2 if it weren't for how heavily it impacted later Mario titles even if it never got a true sequel or successor.
It says a lot about fandom culture that subreddits like SaltierThanCrait and SmashRage need to exist seperated from their main subreddits.

I also don't know whether to feel happy or sad about that,
I feel the only remaining synonym for "fight" that could work for a Smash game is "Duel" - though I also only it'd work if the next game doubled down on 1v1 competitive play like almost all other platform fighters are.
If plastic dinosaurs are made of real dinosaurs they arent, that means the dinosaurs in the Game Dude's breakup re-enactment are more realistic than the dinosaurs in Jurassic World
I like to think of the "retro cutoff" this way:
U/One/4 and Wii/3/360 Era: Old ("The Recent Memory Zone")
SNES/Mega Drive through GameCube/Xbox/2/Dreamcast Era: Retro ("The Nostalgia Zone")
NES/Master System and earlier: Vintage ("The Fading Zone")
I feel the Wii/3/360 era is one of the edge of entering retro and the SNES/SMD era is on the edge of entering fading.
When I say "fading" I don't mean that younger gamers can't, don't, or shouldn't take interest in or seek out vintages titles, moreso that the people who grew up on them initially are losing interest in gaming and there's no more need to cater to their nostalgia unfortunately, which will only make these games harder to access (or at least discover) both legally and illegally unless it's a "your kids are gonna love it" situatuon like EarthBound.
We're submitting transformation items, voting on multi-part items, voting on an item that will lead into later jobs, and voting on competitive stages!

Slightly different take here: I'm not sure too about the Boxing Ring Stage, as that feels like it's leaking a little too much into Punch Out. That's probably the absolute most crossover I'd personally want. I'd extend the absolute extreme to Nintendoland at most. I'm probably in the minority...

I like to consider the Brawl version of Stickerbush Symphony a different song in its own right, known as "Bramble Blast".
The unpopular Smash opinions thread, to me, reads more as "Smash opinions I wish were unpopular."
It's kinda weird how PSASBR was criticised for being "too similar" to Smash back in 2011 despite being easily the least Smash-like platform fighter in recent history, but nowadays games like Rivals and Nick which are the exact same concept as Smash, just with different audiences and priorities, are criticised as "too different"
I do still believe Space Invader and Waluigi would've been equally as good ends to Ultimate as Sora.
One of the weirdest takeaways from watching the QuintonReviews Nickcom video essay saga is that there's an episode of Game Shakers that is supposed to be a crossover with iCarly, but they don't actually meet the iCarly characters - they just watch iCarly and then meet Freddy's actor to ask him who his character ended up marrying after the show.
Like, imagine if a SpongeBob episode started with SpongeBob and Patrick commentating over old Rugrats footage, and the bulk of the plot was them going to the surface to ask Kath Soucie what jobs Phil and Lil got as adults.
I'm starting to get the feeling creation thread players do not care much for competitive-legal stages, heh. I mean, I totally understand it, but either way the only competitive stages I can think of that have been actively voted into a thread with other, more casual stages as options in the same vote (as opposed to a job specifically for competitive stages) are Christmas Village and Star Road in SMSB and The Kremlin in the Another Universe thread, and jobs specifically for competitive stages tend to get barely any interaction.
Or maybe I just made the current SMSB stage job overly complex, I dunno.
If Lego was do a Donkey Kong expansion for the Lego Mario series, I think that instead of having an LCD screen in his chest and regular Lego arms, DK should have non-articulatable arms that are raised up as part of the square body shape with a screen between them so he can carry barrels, planks, animals, so on - kinda like those Minecraft piggyback skins
If I was to make a top 50 favourite games list or something to that extent, a majority of the entries would probably be games with one simple mechanic that the game encourages you to push to its limits and use in tandem with different obstacles and hazards without ever truly upgrading your skillset. It'd probably also not have many 3D games, with a majority if not all of the ones listed being Crash titles. -
