Robbit, while not one of my most wanted, is a perfect example of the kind of third parties I want in Smash - he originates from the real first 3D platformer, predating Mario 64 by about a year, and would be a good way to show Nintendo fans that it's not one company making all the innovations, and history isn't just written by the winners.
I like that Piranha Plant is in Smash, but the fact that a widely merchandised mainstay of the highest grossing game series of all time is considered Ultimate's "quirky, unexpected character" and not an actual obscure character upsets me. Trailers are a burden on Smash roster-wise and I hope the next Smash does away with them alongside the treatment of every newcomer as a VIP and hypemongering as a whole.

There's only two characters left to provide alt costumes for in SMSB - I'll probably change the schedule from "music-alt-music-alt" to "music-taunts-music-final smash" once Mama & Tuxie and Fawful & Cackletta's alts are decided and do alt costumes at the same time as a newcomer's addition

Earthworm Jim 2! Mappy Land! Dig Dug 2! Those are classic games! Dunno why their respective prequels aren't there though (I mean, Dig Dug and Mappy's NES ports are both on the Namco Archives NEScollection, but that doesn't explain Jim)
When people say "stop pandering to nostalgia!" they actually mean "start pandering to MY nostalgia!"
I think a Mario-Sonic crossover could be good as long as:
- Both characters have 2D gameplay (I prefer classic but I wouldn't mind Dimps for Sonic either) but use locations from both 2D and 3D platformers (primarily the prior for Sonic and the latter for Mario)
- There is no plot whatsoever like Generations - just "here's a new villain, go indulge in some nostalgia"
- Only have Mario versions of Sonic stages and vice versa, no Sonic in Green Hill Zone or Mario in Bob-Omb Battlefield.
- Don't force Sonic gameplay into Mario gameplay or vice versa, (so ? Blocks would functionally just be monitors and vice versa, coins fly out of Sonic and Mario still collects power ups) but instead focus on individual level gimmicks (like Mario having to walk in water instead of swim with an air limit, or Sonic having to deal with Green Snake Blocks and beep-flipping panels)
- Use the classic Sonic designs and have character interactions primarily be silent phantomime (with maybe Eggman and - if he's included - Wario being the sole speaking characters) I know this is probably the most controversial choice here but I think the modern designs are a little jarring around the Mario cast, and their tendency to be very vocal wouldn't help

While I usually win against them, the CPUs in NASB are just about hard enough to keep me playing in the wait for crossplay.
I have a feeling SMSB will end up with significantly more stages than Ultimate, and honestly regardless realism I kinda like that - having TONS of stages would be a great tradeoff for having a smaller roster than Ultimate to casual players.
The only characters in Smash I'd be on board for a declone of are Daisy and Dark Samus since they're so similar to their source that players could just go back to them. Otherwise I'd much rather have poorly designed characters get revamps than "inaccurate" ones.

NASB lacking iconic characters in base was a blessing in disguise. Nick speculation is a lot more tame than Smash when there's 4 all-but-inevitable characters (Jimmy, Jenny, Timmy, Rocko) and 3 prime contenders for the remaining DLC (Squidward, Zuko, Hugh)

I am going to try my hardest to erradicate all of Peach's butt moves by the end of SMSB's base game.
The obvious answer is Stinky Pete or Lotso - Red Light Green Light would be a cakewalk with toy instincts
I have some fun ideas for Temple variants if Temple Forms win the Mario Smash thread stage form job, though I won' be doing jobs on them. Some personal favourites are: (I'll be using names from this visual guide)
- Super Mario Maker's platform to the right of the "Uh oh"; and both "Door stuck" slopes being tangible red blocks, while there are intangible blue blocks that, if they could be activated, would block off parts of the stage.
- The "rock and a hard place" on Wario's Castle having a Wario statue that lifts the "Weenie Hut Jr's" upper bulk of the stage
- Mario Zone being shaped as Mario riding Yoshi with his tongue extended
- Jungle Hijinxs' background being shaped as New Pork City as an easter egg
- The Rocket on Woolly World and the geyser on Mushroom Kingdom U being the "rock and a hard place"
- Gangplank Galleon's hard platforms being the mainbrace in front of the Kremling flag mast, with the soft platforms being rolled up tears on the mast
- Mario Circuit U being the anti-gravity camera trick portion of the stage with the leftmost hard portion of "Hryule Fight Club" being a booster ramp
- Bowser's Castle having an axe that's cut off the thing that holds together "Rock & A Hard Place" and "Hyrule Fight Club"
Now my YouTube recommended has shifted from OOC WordGirl to OOC Randy Cunningham, which would be fine if it weren't the fact I can't stand this show's art style. It looks like a gaming webcomic.
I feel one problem with Smash's stages is that they try to represent the game instead of the location. Instead of "Let's make a Donkey Kong Country Returns stage!", they're more going for "Let's make the Donkey Kong Country Returns stage!" and try to encapsulate what the games are overall instead of specific memorable segments, leading to an oversaturation of first levels and final boss arenas. This is especially a problem with modern Smash, but earlier games undeniably had trouble with this too.

Infinite seriously needs to ditch the whole "will it sell?" aspect for DLC - the current discussion on 1P newcomers has had barely any discussion of potential profits and target audiences apart from "this game sold well" and "let's strike the nostalgia oven while it's hot"

I think that of my movesets for Food Fight so far:
M&Ms > Ronald > Chester
I feel Ronald's potential was squandered a little by my aim for a shoto archetype (though I don't regret that decision either, necessary evil) while I wasn't really paying good attention to Chester's archetypes (he's a stance fighter) while making the moveset and didn't lean hard enough into the extreme sports Poochie angle. Red and Yellow on the other hand, I feel everything clicked for - a decent reference/hammerspace-to-regular-attack ratio, a well thought out gimmick that was considered for all moves, a good grasp of the duo's personalities, so on. It's funny too, because the concept for Red & Yellow's gameplay was something I've considered before in the context of multiple characters in multiple games - hypothetical and real - but always dismissed, however once I started thinking about how Red and Yellow could be implimented the climber + slapstick concept kinda clicked for me.

I'm actually kinda surprised Disney Heroes: Battle Mode has Pooh characters in it, I always assumed that even if Disney became open to their characters getting down and dirty (which it seems they have) they would still lock out the 100 Acre Wood gang.
Even though I'm known here as a die-hard NASB fan and a casual fan of the general 90s Nickelodeon brand/aesthetic, I grew up on Cartoon Network more than I did Nick (sans SpongeBob) and part of that was just down to kid me finding live action dull. I'm watching Quinton Reviews' iCarly retrospective basically blind to everything about the show except the memes and uh... yeah, 7 YO me wasn't missing out on much.

I feel that the competitive stages in platform fighters also aiming for casual audiences should primaily be either extremely "epic" so to speak, therefore making casual players see it as "the serious stage for when you want to settle an argument" like Final Destination, or so goofy that aesthetics alone make it good for wacky casual play - this is, of course, assuming this isn't a Rivals situation where every stage has both a casual and comptetitive version.
