I think it's really cool how what was once the lowest common denominator can becme niche and daring when it's surrounding culture fades from memory. I find the Mac Tonight adverts a good example of this, the 80s advertising landscape was all about the night life so a crooner moon riding high atop a midnight city was a safe, marketable prospect; but today advertisers focus on the daytime and abstract shapes/concepts so Mac Tonight feels like a daring, creative concept to future generations.
