Extra notes:
- Some hard alt choices were Stitch (Elvis or space suit?), Elastigirl (golden age or Incredibles 2?), Mulan (Ping or white makeup?), Pink Elephants (multi-elephant or belly dancer?), Anger, Ursula (most of their concept art would be great options), and Homer (so many picks - but Evil Homer was my top choices behind what I went with)
- Really pleased with the home stage concepts for Pink Elephant, Goofy, and EVE
- Alt costumes in general were pretty tricky given most of these characters only have one movie and some of them don't even appear much within that movie. Either way original concepts (Jackalope, Debris Dragon, and technically Powerline) were a last resort
- I considered an original alt for Debris Dragon where it becomes an actual dragon complete with the illustration's sweater, but I felt that would take away its charm
- Favourite alts are Kevin, Kermit, Mufasa, Elsa, and Indiana Jones.
- Kermit's alt is probably the objective worst pick, but I really like that skit so I went with it for bias' sake
- I specifically chose Donald's because I really like the idea of having a blindfolded alt.
Continuing from my whole thing about graphics vs. art, I think Sword and Shield has one of the best art directions of any first party Switch release, probably the best of any 3D non-port that isn't Yoshi's Crafted World - sure, it has a mild case of the desats, but it keeps to the aesthetic and knows when too much realism is too much.
My belief that NASB is better than Ultimate is a very hot take on its own, but if you want a scorching take, I also think NASB looks better than Ultimate. Compare any two Ultimate and Nick stages with a similar location/theme and Ludosity's work will almost always look more pleasing.
I feel a lot of Smash (and gaming in general) discourse comes from a lack of distinguishment between "would" and "should". I've noticed most of the Infinite discourse originates from that.
How has Smash managed to go so long without a capoeira (dancing) fighter?
I didn't really like Smash Legacy's "What if Melee had more dev time" video because I was only really interested in the trophies, which they glossed over.
Even though I'm way more of a 90s Nick fan than a 00s/10s Nick fan, I feel that the 90s well is pretty dry for NASB. Other than niche off-the-radar stuff like idents; puppets; Nick Jr/at Nite; and game shows, all that really seems necessary is a Rocko rep or two and maybe a second Rugrats or Hey Arnold rep.

A representative for game development in Smash - like Suzanne the monkey, Kung Fu Man, or the Scratch cat - would be so cool.
I feel the optimal guest pick for NASB is Danger Mouse
- Important to Nickelodeon history, as one of their first big syndication smashes
- Still relevant to kids today because of his reboot
- Said reboot is avaliable on Paramount+ under the Nickelodeon banner
- Has a whole ton of spy gadgets to choose from
- Probably not expensive to license out
- Could be an extra character to appeal to 80s kids playing for the TMNT cast

Generally when you search up "recently acquired disney ip in kingdom hearts" you'll find something or other of a respectable quality, but sometimes you'll something that just catches you offguard with how well made it is... like this:

Even though they aren't fighters, I think wavedashing and a Bowser's Castle stage would both be big enough deals for a future Smash to make a CGI trailer for - I'd say rollback netcode but I'm not sure how you could represent that as a physical entity to give a splash screen to.
My response to the general public's response to NASB was basically a long string of "wait, people expect that?"
"Wait, people expect super moves in platform fighters?"
"Wait, people expect platform fighters to have items?"
"Wait, people expect voice acting in modern licensed games?"
"Wait, people expect remixes from the show in modern licensed games?"
"Wait, people expect multiple music tracks per stage in fighting games?"
"Wait, people expect Timmy/Jimmy to appear in modern Nick crossovers?"
"Wait, people expect platform fighters to have boss fights?"
"Wait, people expect platform fighters to have story modes?"
"Wait, people expect assist characters in platform fighters?"
"Wait, people expect every character in a platform fighter to have some kind of gimmick?"
Seems the general public 1. has a different idea of a "Smash clone" than platform fighter fans have, and 2. doesn't keep up with the state of the licensed cartoon game industry.
They should add other platform fighters to the mains stock icon thingy - I want a tiny little Nigel below my PFP.

I just found out there's a Japanese-made Disney tennis game that has anime-esque protagonists like Kingdom Hearts, but unlike Kingdom Hearts it draws all the characters in an anime style. Very blursed
Hot take, but I feel that if the next Smash makes major cuts, Pikachu should be at least considered for the chopping block - he comes off to me more as a rep for the Pokémon marketing machine than Pokémon itself, Pokémon Trainer and his team (or even just Squirtle or Charizard alone) fit the "mandatory main protag" bill better, Pokémon has grown to the point where just Charizard or Mewtwo could get box art sales, and I can't imagine many people saying Pikachu is their favourite Pokémon.
I feel that if K. Rool had a ninja or samurai disguise, he should be called "Kouhai Rool-Kun", with the joke being that he didn't actually do his research on what those honorifics mean and made himself look both inexperienced and gramatically redundant in the process of using his trademark alliteration.
I feel that music in crossover fighters should try to capture the feel of the source material as close as possible and get remixes of classic tracks if the budget is high enough - but for fighters based on a single non-fighting IP they should just do their own thing and make songs better fit for the location and fighting.
I do wonder if, when NASB gets voice acting, the characters with generic voice effects (Oblina and Garfield's belches and the latter's yawn to be precise) will get re-recorded voices.

While I understand that Animal Crossing and Yoshi stages are designed around "simplicity" I do wish more series had competitive legal stages in Smash.
