  • I had a dream where Multiversus had a weirdly long trailer where the following was revealed
    1. The game's art style got a complete revamp to look pastel, chibi and Sanrio-esque
    2. They did a survey to decide whether Ace Bunny from Loonatics Unleashed should be added as Bugs' clone... through Strawpoll
    3. For some reason Bugs Bunny's Superman costume was added as a Superman alt and not a Bugs alt
    4. The Animaniacs were confirmed, they were stacked atop each other like Super Brawl 3's Rabbids
    5. For some reason the Warners' idle animation was Ralph the Guard giving them a slushie to drink.
    6. The Warners fought using a lasso
    7. Daphne was confirmed and portrayed unusally provocatively - like, worse than Smash's portrayal of Peach
    8. The horrible cocoon monster from this advert was in the game
    9. Garfield was confirmed for some reason and his model was very clearly using the style of the guy who did the Sonic Says 3D animations
We're submitting new non-platformer fighters, and a home stage for Dr. Mario - doesn't have to be a Dr. Mario stage though!
I feel that if any 2010s show is to get a rep in NASB other than the already-featured Loud House and Korra, it will probably be Fanboy & Chum Chum (unless you count Barnyard) - their show is looked upon fondly with hindsight compared to the rest of the 2010s lineup, but its early cancellation also feels a little more justified given how loathed it was upon debut unlike Harvey Beaks or Welcome to the Wayne, which are shows people like and always have liked, but drawing attention to (and therefore indirectly drawing attention to the treatment of) would be bad for the Nick brand unless there was a megaresurgence with internet communities and fan conventions like there was for Zim.
I feel the reason people are quick to disregard characters like Waluigi and Hugh Neutron as "joke/meme picks" is because they're viewing comical franchises through the lens used to view action franchises - specifically anime.

If Jimmy Neutron were a shonen anime, Hugh would be an absurd choice for NASB - but Jimmy Neutron isn't a shonen anime, it's a slice of life episodic children's cartoon; where every character's primary function is to either tell or cause jokes and action setpieces are played entirely for comedy.

If Mario were an epic JRPG series, Waluigi would also be an absurd choice for Smash - but Mario isn't a JRPG, it's a primarily party game/platformer franchise featuring silly; whimsical characters who tend to be on good terms regardless of moral alignment and have generally the same powers and power level.

    Absurd based on what?
If you do the actual research, Waluigi is an easy contender as one of the strongest characters in Mario lore if you go by some shounen anime lens.
Jigglypuff is from a series that's far more shounen and is very much an irrelevant meme and low tier unimportant filler monster that only exists to be a worse Clefairy in the lens of her own series but the people that tend to whine about Waluigi never say squat about her and even when they do, all they can point at is how low effort she was to include and her anime popularity which is exactly what Waluigi has: popularity.

There's no such thing as a Mario spin-off, the series doesn't have canon or lore.

Not sure if that's a joke but just cuz it has no consistency and Miyamoto seems to hate characters he didn't make, it doesn't mean there's no lore.
I posted a few days ago about how the pose of an old Margaret Thatcher statue looks just like K. Rool's - and honestly? I feel there's a relatively low chance it could be intentional - but less in the sense of "haha k rool starves the kongs like maggie starved the miners" or any other political commentary and moreso a somewhat naive "K. Rool is a British character, we should use statues of British rulers for reference!"
I feel my next Fortnite creation thread submission (of a series/IP) should be either The Flintstones or Wikipedia. Dunno what the music for Wikipedia would be though - not sure if using an audio reading would work if it isn't the not-so-E10+-friendly CBT article. Guess I could find other uncomfortable but appropriate articles, or "swaggy" ones with "epic" or "win" in them.
An extremely stupid hypothetical: genericised NASB stage titles for if music from it was to be used in Fraymakers or Fishbunjin Smash DLC

I do wonder, if Smash was just a hypothetical game like the Disney and Microsoft platform fighters are, which weird, relatively obscure series or sub-brand would fanmade rosters hyperfixate on like Disney Channel and Rare stuff? My best guess is Mario spin-offs. 7 WarioWare reps and 3 Kremlings alone but only 4 Pokémon and Pit as the only NES rep
I feel a majority of modern Smash's problems are caused either by unneeded compromises (Schrödinger's wavedash, the on-and-off nature of the game's "celebration" status, Ultimate's online mode ruleset system) or pandering to fans for the sake of "hype" livestreams (comically large rosters, source-accurate movesets, lack of obscure/weird newcomers)

Pretty much. Smash has fallen victim to its own hype and now only seeks to get attention for itself, with some fans only caring about expanding Smash's representation even further. The fan favorite requests now are all iconic 3rd parties, most of which are Western-made, with 1st parties only talked about in the sense of promotional picks for upcoming titles.

Pretty much, I just want Smash to make it's mind up - either put in place a massive roster purge so Crash and Doomguy can take the lead, or cut down on the third parties for Isaac and Muddy Mole's chances. Either is fine.

I definitely feel like a lot of otherwise really fun games suffer from a general lack of direction. Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite is a good example of this (even though smash is obviously way better than it lol)
still cant get over the fact pokemon was popular enough to influence human evolution

    capitalism scares me
I like the idea of NASB having a show-specific announcer, but I don't think it should be Stick Stickly - his voice is too sweet to announce a kart racer, let alone a fighting game. Patchy's voice could work but I feel he has too much of a pirate tone (accent?) to represent all the shows in the game. Realistic Fish Head or one of the live action kid actors could be a really cool announcer.

I am trying to delete project m arcade and project arcade plus. Nobody cared about these two projects because everyone thinks it is a troll or poorly made. I have tried to contact the moderator to delete threads. I refuse to let these mods rot on this server. Can you contact somebody for me? Or report these threads so they can be deleted?

just give them time, self-reports go through the same process as regular reports.

Have you considered that not everyone lives in your time zone? Or that people aren't online at all times? Or that forums are a dying medium? Please stop bothering people because no one has responded in an hour.

I see some online, they can do it or at least respond.
I really dislike SSBU's Classic Mode. The mode comes off as super dull and hard to replay without that RNG element. At the very least 64's hyperconsistency made it fun to score attack and speedrun.
It's kinda funny how on the Mario Smash thread we've already disconfirmed one of the top fan picks for a Mario RPG rep, one of the top fan picks for an arcade DK rep and probably THE top fan pick for Yoshi through ally contacts. Other threads are super conservative and strategic for ATs. (though that usually just ends with characters being conspiciously absent from base game)
I'd be really disappointed if a Disney platform fighter didn't have a Pixar Shorts rep
I fear the prospect that future generations will come across and gain anemoia for oversimplified logos and ASMR adverts the way mine has for 80s nightlife and 90s memphis aesthetics.
I personally see NASB having competitive mechanics less as "aiming for the wrong audience" and more as the game trusting kids to use their curiousity and creativity - detached from Melee's version of wavedashing and the culture/taboos that surround it, how do you think an 8 year old would react if they learned they could slide fast by airdashing into the ground? Probably less "this is too hard, I give up!" and more "wow! I gotta show my friends how fast I can go!" - kids love the element of discovery and learning new things, (even if they won't admit it) so surely a game with tons of techniques to learn and use hiding within a simple control scheme is what you should be going for?
Somebody posted on the Bad Smash Suggestions thread "give the men swimsuits, and the women winter outfits" and the general response was "YO! THAT'D BE RAD!"

Even ignoring the heteronormative implications of the original post, can anyone really tell me they don't love this itchy little thing?
People complain a lot about the lack of supers in NASB, but honestly... what would most of these characters' supers even be? Most super ideas that come to mind for this roster are either already in the movesets in some form (a fart for Ren & Stimpy, a scream for Oblina, Avatar state for Aang, Sandy's exploding lasso) or just a waste of a potential alt costume like Lincoln and CatDog's up Bs (Valkyrie Helga, Goofy Goober wizard SpongeBob, Robo-Reptar, Caped Avenger)
There was a problem fetching the tweet
I feel that if you have to take any extra measures to prevent vandalism beyond what's standard you may want to reconsider making a statue at all.
I love the Pixar short Boundin' (jackalope and sheep) because it's so unabashedly and sincerely cutesy - like what people who don't like Disney movies think Disney movies are. It's basically the exact same movie from the bait-and-switch Simpsons Movie bunny trailer

I feel we could do with more media that's just unashamed of its sheer whimsy without needing wisecracks or metajokes - give me teddy bears without guns and dancing flowers who don't get massacred in a wildfire. As you get older you start to appreciate sincere stuff a lot more.
What I've seen of Homestar Runner has spot-on hillarious writing, but I just don't like that overly simplistic early 2000s webtoon aesthetic (more specifically how they handle their characters' limb proportions) so I can't exactly get into it - I understand the need for simplicity and easy-to-animate characters, but the limitation of Newgrounds stuff and such comes off more Atari 2600 than Hanna-Barbera or Jay Ward's NES compared to modern web (or its' own contemporary TV) animation. Understandable given these are unpaid teenagers in the dawn of a new medium, but still.
I find the trope in cartoons of adults just casually being friends with children they're not related to or working with (Mr. Dink from Doug as the most obvious example, Gazpacho from Chowder if you want to talk within the average profile poster's nostalgia range) really cute. I can kinda understand why people would find the idea off-putting, but the whole thing is relatable to me since as a kid most of my school friends were teens and as a teen most of my school friends were kids.
I feel the non-issue I've whined a lot about of Microsoft Smash rosters being too Rare-centric also applies to Disney XD/Channel cartoon stuff in Disney Smash rosters - thought at least with Rare I kinda get it, most if not all Smash fans are also Nintendo fans so their Microsoft knowledge starts and ends with Rare's stint at Nintendo, but the majority of Disney and Pixar's movies are so iconic and ubiquitous that even without all the acquisitions of major IPs (Marvel, Star Wars, Muppets, Simpsons) it seems weird to even give more than 1 or 2 characters to Disney TVA of all things, let alone such a big portion.

Disney Smash fan rosters will have like 5 Kim Possible characters, 3 Phineas & Ferb characters, 4 Gravity Falls characters, and Scott Leadready; but only 2 Simpsons characters, Kermit as the sole Muppet, and not a single rep for the Pixar shorts or any animated movie released before the rennaisance
