Recently, thirty-five of the fifty players on the Panda Global Season Two Rankings voted on a survey where they could rank characters in Smash Ultimate on a scale of one through ten. On February 18th, 2020, these votes were released in the form of the PGRUv2 Ultimate Tier List.

Hey everyone, welcome to my attempt at recapping the histories of some of the greatest players in Project M 3.6 history. Death, taxes, Super Smash Bros. ruleset overhauls: the constants of life. While there is often talk of making sweeping changes to the rules of a Smash game, relatively few see use in tournament play, much less widespread adoption. Examples of “successful” ruleset changes in Melee recently include wobbling bans and ledgegrab limits. Both have seen regional adoption, which is better than a 6 minute timer or frozen Pokémon Stadium, for example, have ever done.

It’s no surprise to diehard Smash fans that Smash development is an arduous process. Planned characters are cut, others thrown in at the last minute, and occasionally entire modes are withheld for a DLC release. With this history in mind, I propose that Piranha Plant was planned for Super Smash Bros Ultimate’s initial fighters roster, but wasn’t finished until later.
