I may be starting up that indie fighting game creation thread a little earlier than expected.

I'm starting to outline how I want my indie fighter creation thread to go; I'm going to list everything on a Google Doc because I think that looks nicer.
I do have one thing I'm unsure of, however: Should I allow people to suggest/vote special move schemes (things such as #/directions of specials and # of super moves), or should the thread start with one set in stone?
It brings me great comfort to know that even during its darkest times, Donkey Kong was still revolutionizing the video game industry.
Anyway, if I end up doing that indie fighter creation thread I brought up yesterday, I can promise of you three things:
- It won't be that big - I want it to be both a test run to see if I am capable of running full-scale creation threads and a smaller, quicker thread without too much commitment. I'm thinking somewhere along the lines of 24 fighter slots for the base game, early 30s at absolute most.
- Shovel Knight will be a locked-in character at the start of the thread. It's inevitable.
- I would be unsure of what to do regarding Minecraft content. On one hand, it started as an indie game and was one of the largest prior to Mojang being purchased by Microsoft, but at the same time, it really isn't an indie game now.
Not like Crashboards didn’t just happen or anything, but please do forgive me if I’m a bit slower on stuff today. I’m not gonna go on a major vent or anything, but I haven’t exactly been having the greatest time today.
This whole Missions/Rewards thing Nintendo's doing on Switch now is a neat concept, but I'm not a fan of how you can't mix and match icon elements from different games. The SMO options aren't that appealing, either, and I don't really care about Animal Crossing, so I'm not gonna get the New Horizons stuff. I'm just gonna stick with my SMB1 Mario art until they add the Splatoon elements that were teased.
(also nintendo now's your chance to give us actual themes cmon nintendo let's go nintendo do something good this year please)
I'm considering doing an indie fighting game creation thread once my midterm exams are done - Would people be interested in that?
After doing that Polar Bowler post, I wanna talk about another more obscure game series that I had limited experience with: Super Granny.
It was this little puzzle platformer in which you have to rescue kittens. There was a level editor, but I don't remember anything about it, so it must not have been in the trial version.
Just like Polar Bowler, the series is available on WildTangent, although Windows 10/11 won't run any of them to my knowledge. This is where things get weird, though; Unlike Polar Bowler, Super Granny got a bunch of its games compiled into one collection and uploaded on Steam. However, while the collection's page is still accessible if you know where to look (or just look up "super granny steam" like I did), the games aren't downloadable anymore. Shame.
(I might do these "obscure games" kinds of posts more often; They're fun to do, and people seem to have an interest in them.)
Smashboards is one of the few sites for which I willingly turn off my ad blocker, yet I swear I keep seeing that "You have your ad blocker on" message in place of a banner ad more often than not.

Played Metroid Dread for the first time today (well the demo actually but w/e)
Honestly, it's a really fun game. Kinda miffed you can't save in the demo, but ultimately I had a fun time with what I did play (the EMMI sequences were actually really tense and had me panicked lol)

I didn’t really follow the original show during its heyday, so I don’t know how much weight my opinion has, but…
The Fairly Odd Parents reboot looks BAD. Not even in the “but my childhood!!!!” way; This show tries way to hard to be relevant and trendy, but the trailer just felt like the most dated thing that they could have put out.

what if the next smash axed ryu/ken/terry/kazuya's 1-on-1 facing gimmick in favor of adding a dedicated strafing button for all characters
Oh yeah, forgot to mention something during my SFVI post - I'm not really a fan of this new, more realistic art style they're using. It's not a dealbreaker for me, and it doesn't look bad, but I don't vibe with it at all. Street Fighter has always been a more stylized series, so this new realism feels off to me.

- imo luke's design is a huge improvement over his sfv appearance
- conversely, i'm impartial on ryu's new look; the beard's nice and makes sense but i'm already missing his gi. also sandals are a weird choice since i thought ryu didn't like shoes
- PLEASE let that logo be a placeholder it is perhaps the most cookie-cutter garbage they could have gone with

sonic cd’s japanese game over music is, in some ways, creepier than the usa music to me. maybe because distorted versions of usually happy, upbeat music always give me the willies (i have the same problem with sm64’s game over music)
