I think my biggest regret with the smash of another universe thread was the imbalance between Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony that happened because I originally wasn’t letting sony on the base roster until I changed my mind. There didn’t need to be literally the same amount of characters for each company but I do think sony could have used a little more and it just doesn’t make much sense outside of the context of the thread. It isn’t really that big a deal though and I think it was more or less corrected with Parappa DLC but I should have either let Sony in from the start or just not allowed them til DLC after all
I wonder if sakurai or anyone at nintendo actually believed people wanted chrom in smash when people made memes about him being rejected, when those memes were clearly just because of how he was portrayed in his reveal trailer

One time I was in a hotel in disney world when I was a kid and I offered to get more ice from the ice machine. It was really late and I was an awkward kid so I hid behind the machine when two other people came by. I heard them say “haha they got their kid to get them some ice, hey kid go get us some ice” which made me so mad that when they left I found an innocent person underneath the balcony and dropped a piece of ice directly over their head, narrowly missing them but they saw it fall and got freaked out. I was so high up and it was so dark there was no way they could see me.
That’s it that’s my weird story.

I feel like the whole croc inspiring super mario 64 situation is interesting but come on it’s probably not real. Argonaut has been treated pretty unfairly by nintendo but do people genuinely believe miyamoto wouldn’t have come up with an idea for a 3D platformer if it weren’t for argonaut’s pitch? You know, in the era where videogames were all transitioning into 3D graphics. It almost certainly inspired some aspects of SM64 but I think it’s inaccurate to say the narrative that nintendo plagiarized it
Thinking about how in yakuza 3 there’s a completely random twist that kazama has a twin brother and after shooting some people he has barely any use in the plot and literally never comes back. What the hell was that?
Given that you can control DVD menus by selecting different things doesn’t that make it controllable and so it counts as a videogame or at least a visual novel?
If I could magically make it so that there’s a remake of any game, I would make one of Metal Gear 2 in 3D.

I feel like some of the more fun sections to do in the expand a franchise thread were actually series like f-zero or game and watch that I wasn’t all that familiar with but still have a lot of potential for new content in smash
Imagine how much of a distaster it would have been if Sakurai released his youtube channel when ultimate wasn’t out yet and everyone would use it to speculate on who was next
This is probably very western centric of me but I feel like it’s really weird that smash has so many spirits of obscure japanese only characters and prides itself on having really obscure ones but doesn’t have any Nintendo content that’s exclusive to north america, again prolly reading too much into it feels like they just didn’t do their research on those types of games or just write them off because they never released in Japan

Really dislike how thorgis arcade makes his videos a live premiere when they’re like 2 hours long it just means you have to wait extra long to watch the video from the start if you miss it and it’s so annoying -
