It’s always a weird moment when a thread you made years ago gets bumped

Feels like every month has its own variation on the “thing better than other thing” meme template. This month it’s “But if you close your eyes”

I think Kingdom Hearts is a very good series, but the quality is pretty inconsistent. Not inconsistent over the series, but inconsistent within each game. What I mean by that is, while the more story-driven original areas are some of the best things I’ve played in videogames, the bulk of the game, which is traveling between the Disney worlds, is pretty boring, and not very good

if you’re typing the phrase “An altime low” be very, VERY sure to put a space between “an” and “altime”

Nintendo could absolutely communicate better, but seeing as how they offer free fixes for Joycon Drift, I don’t think it’s really that big of a deal. Certainly not enough to go to court for

“Hacker on the phone tells you information and guides you around the place” is one of the most overused videogame tropes IMO. I’ve seen it in so many games (Mostly western games) that it’s starting to get really stale

I posted about this before, but didn’t really give much context so I will now:

Recently someone leaked a document where Nintendo was going after a hacker who was developing jailbreak for the 3DS back in 2013.The document showed that Nintendo found out the hackers name and address, and were planning to confront them at his home. They even made a spreadsheet to figure out the possible outcomes. This document was supposed to stay at Nintendo.

So people have been using this to criticize Nintendo, which is understandable. But what a lot of people who are criticizing them don’t realize a lot of things:

1.The hacker was about to jailbreak the Nintendo 3DS and develop home brew software, which would allow other users to download pirated material on their 3DS with ease. That’s illegal. While I don’t think they really should have done it, I can completely understand why Nintendo would want to go after him for something like that

2. Nintendo was going to offer him compensation if he would stop hacking their systems and start finding bugs in their programming. People are acting like Nintendo was going to go to his house and break his thumbs. That’s not true, and to be honest it’s pretty irresponsible how most sources won’t say this. It’s a pretty big detail

3. The hacker who leaked this was doing some seriously shady things leaking this. The document was supposed to be for Nintendo’s eyes only and this guy hacked them and leaked it, which is illegal.The hacker who leaked this literaly kept in the home address and name of the person who Nintendo was going after, for everyone on the internet to see. That’s really ****ed up.

Overall I think after Free Melee, a lot have people have lost a bit of sense in criticizing Nintendo. While you probably should be criticizing them, saying they’re evil, soulless and need to be boycotted is just ridiculous

The constant comments on Nintendo related images that read “March 31st” or “Nintendo when I use an emulator” get old REALLY fast

Unless I’m mistaken (which I could very well be) Earthbound, Metal Gear and Minecraft are the only Smash series that mention real-life pop culture by name in a main-line entry.

Earthbound mentions the Beatles song Yesterday, Metal Gear mentions a whole lot of movies and Minecraft has the skin packs. There are probably some other ones, though.

Edit: I don’t really think Mario Maker counts as “mainline game” but if it does, then we can add Shaun the Sheep to the list

I’m about to get an old Xbox 360. A good friend of my mom’s dosent want it any more so they offered to let me have it for free. I’m really excited because it will come with a bunch of games I don’t have but want to play like Assassins Creed 1 and 2, the games of The Orange Box, Borderlands and Mass Effect.
(my backlog is gonna be ridiculously massive but I don’t care)

I also have some games I want to get for the system like Sonic Unleashed and Generations, Banjo-Kazooie and Final Fantasy 13

All things considered, this is a pretty big deal for me. Especially because I’ve never owned any Xbox system before
