  • I’m not to keen on Sora in Smash, but not for the reason you might think,

I don’t want him because of the sheer amount of hate he would get. That would basically start a “Smash fans civil war” worse than we’ve ever seen. There’s already way too many people who call die-hard Sora supporters “nostalgia blind” or “just people who want to mess up Smash by adding things that aren’t from games” and the amount of arguing that would ensue honestly scares me.
It would be worse than Byleth, worse than pokemon sword and shield, and worse than paper mario. That would probably be the most frustrating debate the Smash community has ever had... And that’s saying alot

I just think a floaty sword character with a fire spell would be annoying. But other than that I don't mind him.

I can only think of a few characters that would cause backlash.

Fire Emblem rep (we've had enough)
Gen 8 rep (because pokeyman bad)
Jonesy (because everyone hates Fortnite for fun)

I'm not worried about Sora getting massive backlash unless Disney characters were to be included with him. Then I could maybe see some backlash coming.

Every character will get backlash really. No way to avoid, might as well choose not to care. I mean, I didn't know how people would be mad at Steve when I saw the Live but here we are.
Okay, I’m inventing a new phrase, which I call “Newcomer Daze”

This is to describe the weird feeling we get when a strange, somewhat gimmicky character is released in Smash, and they feel out of place.

We’ve all had the feeling before, and I can practically guarantee everyone’s feeling it with Steve. Think about when Hero or Min Min were put in Smash and they felt out of place with their gimmicks. Even Joker, Terry, Byleth, and to some extent, BK felt a little off at first, but eventually the feeling went away.

And that’s the thing about the feeling, it goes away. The DLC feels like a part of Smash now. Sure we can still remember the newcomer daze we’ve had, but we don’t feel that way anymore.

Steve feels like he won’t fit in, but soon enough we won’t be able to imagine Smash without him
I really don’t think there’s any reason for Steve’s spirit board to include characters from other Microsoft games.
Terry’s made sense because SNK games are tightly connected, and Terry is more popular in crossovers than his own game.
It would just seem strange to me
Wait... Isn’t Steve now the first character in smash who debuted on PC? That’s pretty cool

I think so. Steve is also technically the first 100% western origin character to make it into Smash as Diddy, K. Rool, and Dark Samus are all owned by Nintendo and Banjo & Kazooie was once owned by Nintendo when they had half a steak in Rare.
    Bowser D.X
    Bowser D.X
Would the MSX (Snake) count as a PC?
My thought process during the reveal:

A fight on battlefield? Wait why’s Terry here? Is it another fighting game character? Scorpion? Sol Badguy?...

Oh, I guess not... Wait, Sonic just KO’d Mario... is it a Sonic character!?!

Oh... well Mario’s in a dark area now... hold on, darkness, Mario... King Boo!!?!

    HOLD UP... rattling noises?! Geno!?

WAIT THAT WAS A MINECRAFT ZOMBIE GROAN HOLY SHI-
I dunno if this is an unpopular opinion or not, but I really, REALLY don’t want or think a first party Smash character will be the next fighter. The only exception to this is a Gen 8 rep, which I would kinda be disappointed by

Don’t get me wrong, there are a huge amount of characters from Nintendo that should make it in, but I would much rather have them in a Base game. Like a Zelda rep.

I think the point of DLC is to get new companies and/or new series in Smash, and I believe it’s much more likely that we will get third parties or if it is a first party, someone from a game not already represented in Smash, or barely represented in Smash, like we got with Byleth and Min Min
Lately I’ve been playing Final Fantasy X. Is it a good game?...

No. It has to have gameplay to be a game

Are you implying you don’t have to spend minutes on minutes with a command menu fighting a single boss

Oh yeah, except for the bosses. Those take a LONG time.

To be fair though, I actually did really enjoy what I’ve played of the game, it just has quite a bit of flaws

Final Fantasy X still remains one of my most favorite in the series. Yes, it has some flaws but it’s still a solid and amazing game.
I have a tip for people waiting for the next Smash newcomer. If sounds a bit weird but I think it’s a good tip:

    Stop thinking about Smash

Like, take a break already! You don’t have to stop immediately, and you can still practice if you play competitively, but getting other things on your mind will certainly help. Get excited about other things, maybe play some other games instead and it will feel like no time passed at all when the next Smash newcomer is announced.
When it comes to rereleasing older games, I would always prefer the original game without being remastered. Remasters are ideal for PS3-era games that basically just look like modern games, but with a lot worse quality.

So for example, Super Mario 64 would in my opinion lose some of its charm and distinct look if it was remastered. Not to mention, some of the worlds like Rainbow Cruise would look really strange and feel out of place.

Or look at Resident Evil 4, which looked more creepy thanks to the fog in certain places. Remasters of the game removes some of it, making the world feel bare.

There are still some games that deserve remasters more than ports, but those are more exceptions. I want the classic look and feel of a game intact

I think the ideal situation would be to have a remaster of the game, but have the original game always playable through the options menu, with a quick and easy swap between the two. Think something like the Wonder Boy remaster
Don’t be the kind of Nintendo fan who goes into a drunken rage every time the words “3D and Mario” are used in the same sentence

The amount of anger some people have for the 3D All-Stars collection. I’ve run into a lot of people who will call someone “ignorant,” “blind” or even something worse, just for owning the collection

Yeah. I love Mario Galaxy and I want to try out the other ones, so it's no contest. Sure, I don't approve of the expiration date for digital versions, and the absence of Galaxy 2 is quite odd, but I love Mario games and I doubt that not purchasing 3D All-Stars would send a message to Nintendo in the slightest.
So I've heard sunshine on Switch has really bad framerate issues. I then picked up 3D All-Stars, and didn't see any issues with Sunshine... at first. Halfway through the framerate suddenly dropped and stayed that way. It was awful, and so freakin' slow it was almost unplayable without getting nauseous. Has anyone else had any issues with the framerate? If Nintendo seriously noticed this issue allowed a game that runs this poorly, that would be really disappointing and awful.
Any Smash Pokémon rep made after 2008 can’t be fun. All they know is be human-like, predictable moveset, charge they neutral special, evolve from starter, mega evolution final smash and die

Greninja and Incineroar aren't bad y'know. Incineroar is a bit more finicky but Greninja is solid. Heavily popular, one of the main pokemon used in marketing and spin offs, etc. If you're talking Charizard and Lucario, they are fine as well. Also, Lucario and Greninja are the only charging neutral specials in Pokemon's smash reps (excluding Squirtles Water Gun). That's a whole ****load of stereotypes right there.

I feel like for so many people, seeing everyone talk about how great something is, but having no interest in it or a way/enough time to experience it automatically turns into hate for that series and the fandom.
That’s a huge problem, and please don’t let this happen to you
Yeah, most Smash fans probably should realize there’s a difference between characters from games they enjoy and characters who should be in Smash, but personally insulting someone for wanting an obscure character in Smash is just immature
Wait, Kirby Fighters 2 isn’t free to play? Okay I apologize to the three people in the entire world who like the original kirby fighters, but there is no way I’m buying that
I’m surprised more people aren’t talking about the fact that there’s a music track in Smash that’s from Fire Emblem Heroes, a mobile game, meaning mobile games count as video games when it comes to Smash...

    ...Angry Birds for Mii Hats!
If I was a YouTuber I would have seperate videos for “favorite games of (year)” and “best games of (year)” and there would probably be a lot of differences between the two.

For example, my favorite game of 2020 would probably be Super Mario 3D All-Stars but there’s no way I would call that the best game of 2020
It’s stupid to get salty over partner showcases. The only reason people were disappointed at first was because some leaker called it a nintendo direct not knowing it was only first-party. It makes sense to be salty then but having the same hatred for current partner showcase directs is just immature
    KirbyWorshipper2465

People just want a general Direct, even though having one is currently impossible without needlessly putting head staffers at risk. They're too angry to notice that we're getting various types of Directs a lot more often than we're used to.

With all the latest shadow drops, I think a Nintendo Direct would probably have been possible, but yeah it would put people at risk, and hurt the image of the company

Nintendo just can’t be sure enough of their release schedule to make a direct. As far as they know, half of their titles could suddenly get delayed or even cancelled. How awful would it be to get a direct and then half of the titles your email looking forward too got delayed? Even if people could just suck it up, there are still a whole bunch of variables that make a direct a risky move, and not the ideal way to reveal titles.
Sakurai, make a free assist trophy update please. I want Elec Man, Advance Wars Squadron and Kururin to return. Also, a bully from SM64, Master Kohga and Akira Howard should be added
If Doomslayer/Doomguy got into Smash, whatever Sakurai decides to call him will probably be what he is know as by the fanbase in the future.

I posted something like this earlier, but I don't think people understood why so Im making it more clear here:

Well, if he was called Doomslayer in Smash, it would feelstrange to call him Doomguy in discussions about Smash, wouldn't it? It's like saying "I main Ren Amamiya in Smash" or "Red's the best character in Smash!" Sure its not wrong to call the characters that, but it just feels... off.

Obviously, Smash is a bigger franchise than Doom, and there would be a lot of discussion between those two fanbases.
So, if Doom fans, who probably don't really care about calling him Doomguy or Doomslayer see litteraly everyone calling him "Doomslayer," yeah they would feel more compelled to call him by that name
So... I only now just played SM64 on 3D All-Stars. Don’t ask me how I havent played it before, I just haven’t.

So, I was worried it wouldn’t be worth the hype. To my delight, it was. Seeing the amazing game that people were talking about this whole time was just a magical experience. It’s seriously on track to becoming my all-time favourite game
Remaping buttons for specific games or having the ability to inverse controls is such a basic yet helpful feature, that it’s really annoying how Nintendo doesn’t just add that to their games
