Usually i take their advantages against them. Bait the up-b. If u saw my video when he did that......kicked in the chest
oh I'll do that IF they miss. the problem is getting it to miss. I still have a long way to go with learning to read peeps

Why's it a stupid move? :chuckle:
since zelda doesn't have combos so much as follow ups, it's not like she can ever prevent marth from getting it out in time. he can even cancel dtilt locks with it. sheik can keep him i a combo for a bit, but it'll even escape her from time to time. <_<

Bait is good.

Speaking of baiting, I don't like dittos in general, and Zelda dittos are no different for me.

I remember trading lightning kicks with StH before. Ugh, I wish we saved that.

Yeah... what else is there to say about this fight?

heh. but seriously. Zelda v. Zelda is NOT fun.

her moves are built to just be awkward against each other. Ftilt can beat Fsmash, but Fsmash can beat Ftilt. Dash attack is a single hit so it wins if you trade with Fsmash, but it's hard to trade. Zelda has low priority aerial approaches that will NOT go through her own Usmash, but if they connect they are madly powerful.

Farore's is easily sniped by Din's if din's is used first, but din's is easily punished by farore's reappearance if farore's is used first. if nayru's is used by both charactcters at roughly the same time, the person who uses it second will win due to invincibility frames (but only if he's only a frame or two behind, otherwise the person who uses it first will win, your invincibility frames have to be out when the other zelda's hitboxes come out).

Dtilt lock hardly works because the other zelda can Dsmash out of it. You obviously are just as floaty, so if you hover under the other zelda, uairs are hard to avoid. we all know zelda's recovery fairly well so she's easy to edgehog.

there's just so much involved in the ditto. you need to really be good at reading your foe. you have to be safe. that's what's important. you won't win if you don't take chances, but you have to take well calculated risks because zelda is better on punishment than offense in the matchup. someone HAS to take the initiative, but that's always risky.

also, keep in mind, if YOU are in range for a lightning kick, so is your oppoenent.

personally I break out sheik so it's not as boring. my sheik is used to laying zeldas so it does not have any problems with them despite what the matchup charts say. it can wrack damage up to at least 70% no prob and in zelda dittos, sheik's transform time is dramatically decreased making it really easy to switch back in.

Zelda/Sheik has at least a 55:45 advantage on zelda, but that shouldn't be surprising.

The Pit boards have us listed at 6-4 their advantage. We should probably revisit the matchup sometime soon with them involved.

they were involved. remember? from what I recall we had one pit who insisted 60:40. an influx of n00bs making one post resonses and a serious pit player who said it might as well be 50:50 because if zelda gets stage choice, she should win. if pit gets stage choice, he should win, and they'll go neutral on their chosen neutral.

it's not worth revisiting until we do the other matchups IMO

Wow.... I remember that discussion. Anyways there matchups are totally crazy... don't they have DK as 65:35 their advantage or something?

They just overestimate pit and underestimate their opponent

I'm surprised they even have any time to DO matchup discussion with all their nifty discoveries... like what hand and foot pit is dominant with.

Over half of the cast is even or disadvantaged against Pit on thier matchup listing:ohwell:

at the same time, the character rankings list and the recent tier list don't do their justice. Pit's rank is floating around C/D and I believe is in mid-tier? You'd think a character with an advantage over half of cast would at least take the bottom of high tier...

Well, Zeldas.. I believe it's time for me to officially retire from smashboards, so this will be my last post here in the Zelda forums. I blame this all on myself too as I have gotten to the lower stages of my depression. You guys have gone a long way in your discussions and I hope that I have done a good job to contributing to it. I have a few more opinions on some certain characters, but I can just list them below and state my experience with certain players behind those characters.

Zelda vs. Lucario - 60:40 Lucario's advantage. Player - Lee (He just won Final Smash 5!! Yay!!)

Zelda vs. DK - Straight 50:50. Player - Cyphus

Zelda vs. Pit should still remain 50:50.

Zelda dittos in general suck, but they can be fun sometimes.

Thanks for making me feel welcome, kids. And I hope you can get Zelda really far in this game. <3 Zelda <3

Good bye Mocha, it's a sad day for the Zelda boards. We just lost one of our more knowledgeable and experienced players.....you will be sorely missed.

I hope whatever you are dealing with, you have someone to talk too and a family that has your back completely. Get better bud.

seriuosly its hard.
did we ever play Zelda dittos royal?
Yes, Zelda can do a lot of stuff OoS to the other Zelda >_>

I don't think so JigglyZ :(

U tilt and LK trade and both Zeldas enter stun animation, it looks awesome :)

Same with Fair and Bair ;)

Obviously Zelda has the advantage in here

Edit : Whoops Sorry to hear that Mocha ;__; I hope you come back some day ^_^

Later Mocha, hopefully things work out for you.

Now back on subject, Zelda dittos. Zelda is actually pretty popular in Hawaii so I actually run into this matchup sort of often (in one SBHM I was in a pool with 3 Zeldas (me, DM, and another guy)).

I honestly don't have much good advice though since it is a ditto after all, we should all know what Zelda is capable of. Just be extra careful with Usmash and Naryu's, OoS LKs really hurt.

I tried going Sheik and Sheik/Zelda against DM on saturday when he came over for friendlies and in general it worked better than just going Zelda. Sheik can be pretty overwhelming once she finds a way in, she can pursue Zelda more easily and keep her at a disadvantage longer, and with the quick transform it's easy to go Zelda for kills.

On a side note, I only beat DM once that day when he was using Zelda (I must've played his Zelda at least 15-20 games). My only win came when I was using DDD and I don't even use him...

sniperworm does zelda do well in your tourneys over there? I know DM does! But do the others as well? Also do any results get submitted to the tourney results thread? And what's the skill like? I just want to know how Zelda does against common tourney characters in general ^^

That's because everyone over here looks up to DarkMusician. And for good reason.

Shiek is useless against Bowser's almighty Jabs! XD

Let's see....

In the Smash Bros Hawaii Monthly V, DarkMusician placed 5th and Sniperworm placed 17th out of like 50 entrants. I think they were the only Zelda players worth mentioning.

In the Smash Bros Hawaii Monthly VI, DarkMusician placed 4th and Sniperworm placed 5th out of 54 entrants. (I placed 7th with Bowser. :p)

So all in all, they do pretty well I think.

I think MrEh answered most of this. The only Zeldas that place decently are DM and I. DM is awesome and is always in the top 5 somewhere. I've always made it out of pools (I better knock on some wood or something), but I tend to scrub out in brackets because I'm noob like that.

None of the Hawaii results get reported to Ankoku's thread. I looked through the list of tourneys before and the Hawaii ones weren't in it as far as I could tell (not even the HSI).

What's the skill like? Hm, to be honest, Hawaii's got some pretty talented players considering how isolated and small we are, but it's not comparable to playing in a tourney full of big name players. MrEh and DM are the only two that I've heard of on these boards.

As far as characters go, Snake seems like he's really common here (or maybe all the Snakes are good?). I see a bunch of ROBs and Falcos too. DDD was always non-existent and MK usage is almost zero now. G&W and Wario representation also seems abnormally low. But this is just what it seems like to me.

Our next monthly is on the 25th. Hopefully I can lucksack my way into the top 10 again.

No one in Hawaii likes Dedede, which is funny. (good for me, since I don't have to deal with infinites)

Terence doesn't play anymore, so I think the only Meta user is LethalTrilogy. He uses a lot of other characters though...

I think J-Lee and Ryuuhana are the only Gdub and Wario mains worth noting.

Good stuff guys! Definitely keep it up! Do it for the Zeldas and Bowsers who need the love ^^ Shame it's not represented in Ankoku's thread but post them up anyways because I've heard european tournament results are also allowable, so hawaiian results should definitely be valid as well!

Also can't wait to do the bowser matchup! I've been having a blast fighting a few bowser players recently! Gives me a rush fighting him ^^

After you guys are done discussing Zelda dittos, we can always start discussing Bowser.

I'd be more then happy to help out. All those matches with DM has at least given me Zelda experience.
