Hey guys, I've got some exciting news.

Me, mic_128, JV and Yeroc have all been coordinating the past few weeks on some new subforums to accommodate the growth and pace of the Workshop. You may notice now that Smash Workshop has been renamed to Smash Workshop General, which is a part of the plan. Our main focus is still catering to the Workshop community and the Custom Content community.

We're currently going to add a Tutorials, FAQs & Help thread -- the Workshop can help each other out with current codes and modifications, as well as offer advice and support to those who want it as well, from Project SA support to BrawlBox support, and codes as well.

Workshop Brawl will also be used to post about the biggest codeset and modifications to help as well.

Brawl Code Sets will be home to any mini-projects like Balanced Brawl, Brawl-, Project: M, etc.

For those that want to showcase your new projects -- no longer will you be restricted to one thread as well. We've heard your input and now bring you a Customized Content subforum, so if you have a texture, stage hack, or character PSA to show, you can post it in there!

Hope you guys like it! We're in the process of moving topics now, and later this morning, the forum will be re-open.

This is good. I've always liked the idea of each user being able to make their own thread to show off their stuff, and now they can without cluttering the rest of the forum.

Workshop Brawl will be focused exclusively on the Official Plussery codeset.

This is an excellent change and I'm ecstatic about the breathing room we will all finally be getting. I never liked watching threads I'd spend weeks working on get buried in a matter of hours...

if you want any help with my program GCTEdit with modifications and creation of codesets, working it into a tutorial and what not. Together we can update the database for the system (cause the program is practically done now it just needs a fuller database), and the spark of the project would perhaps get me to program in some new features based on what you guys want.

I say this cause well, GCTEdit is kind of the only thing out there that can modify GCTs at all after they have been made.

IT'S A MONOPOLY!!!! MUAHAHAHA

I don't quite understand the "Workshop Brawl" forum. Why not just come out and say it: You want a Brawl+ forum :p Just name it Brawl+ and get it over with, especially if that's going to be the only codeset that's really allowed in there (and the Workshop Brawl name makes zero sense in relation to the content within it). Have a Brawl+ forum, with a character discussion subforum, and simply move all other codesets to the codeset forum. You could add a character discussion board to the codeset forum that encompasses all of the other codesets aside from Brawl+ too.

Smash Workshop General should really be changed to a main forum as opposed to a subforum of General Brawl Discussion as well. I don't know if that's something you can't change due to some decisions from people even higher up than you all, but it really should happen, because it just downright doesn't make sense seeing all these subforums when you visit "General Brawl Discussion" anymore.

Mit: Legally, we don't want to name it to Brawl+, and the same goes for the Workshop being on the main forum as well. MLG does not want to be related to Brawl+ in any way, nor does it want Smashboards to be known for Brawl modifications.

Why can't Brawl+ share a forum with Brawl-, Project M, and Balanced Brawl?

Each of those projects only has a few threads anyways.

First I'd like to say, Hell yeah. This is awesome. Thanks to Bio, Yeroc, JV, and mic_128 for letting this happen.

However,

Smash Workshop should really be changed to a main forum as opposed to a subforum of General Brawl Discussion as well. I don't know if that's something you can't change due to some decisions from people even higher up than you all, but it really should happen, because it just downright doesn't make sense seeing all these subforums when you visit "General Brawl Discussion" anymore.
Agree'd.

10Agree'd.

With all this life and activity, It'd make more sense to give us our own sub-category. We're just as active as Brawl Tactical Discussion, with not only a shorter life span, but producing huge benefits for the whole Brawl community and helping them better understand their game and their characters even more accurately.

I'm not saying we deserve it or anything, but maann...

It'd be nice you know.

EDIT: I'M TOO SLOOOWWW

For now, me and Veril are moving threads, and once we're done (or later this morning) JV is going to open all of the boards for posting again

Wholeheartedly agreeing with this...

Smash Workshop General should really be changed to a main forum as opposed to a subforum of General Brawl Discussion as well. and this. I realize that it's MLG's call on it, but it just seems sensible to do, and for the most part people are all for it.

Anyway, the changes aside from Brawl+ and other projects being split is solid. Good work.

What is the actual function of the WBR in light of this, and when are we going to hear about the way that situation is resolving? It was supposed to be not just Brawl+ but rather evolve to something useful to everyone, but then the Brawl+ forum is called "Workshop Brawl" so I'm really getting confused at the way it plays into the assorted forums and which have which purpose.

I'm also skeptical of how this structure plays into my project's interests and really don't like having the term "mini-project" used like that (more like major project), but I'm going to wait and see how things play out before jumping to any conclusions.

I may have used the wrong wording for it (blah, 4 hours of sleep again), but it was pretty much determined that the project had a lot of modifications and topics going for it that a new forum for the Workshop may be needed.

When I refer to mini, I mean the teams currently working on it are small (14-16 people for Brawl+, 2 for bBrawl, several for B-, and 6(+?) for Project M).

This is unrelated to the Workshop Back Room and admittance/restructuring -- that is still being taken care of, right now we're focusing on the Workshop itself.

Ampharos, I'm glad you plan on being patient while the public and private workshop forums are restructured.

"Workshop Brawl" is being used instead of Brawl+ for legal reasons (I believe).

There are only a few B+ threads because (at least for me) this forums ridiculous overcrowding discouraged it. I intend to take advantage of this new space and honestly, its needed.

The 14-16 people for brawl+ is only counting the actual group which votes on changes and such. There are a lot of people involved in other ways; the stage hackers, my new research team, etc.

Also, it seems that msot of the voting process for new members is progressing well, so WBR for non-B+ I believe is coming soon. I could be corrected by Yeroc, Bionic or Veril though.

Imo this is way too divided... I'll learn to live with it I guess, but really I was only expecting maybe 2 subsubforums, not 5 subsubforums and one subsubsubforum @.@

good **** bio+veril+yeroc+jv

chibo, anybody with basic knowledge of hex editing can modify a gct after its been made...albeit not as effectively as with your program :/

im also kinda against splitting between b+ and 'everybody else'...the four codesets can all share a single subsubforum, cant we? also, the stage hacking hub shouldnt really be in the b+ subsubforum...the stages are independent of codeset, period. itd make more sense imo to split off into a single codeset subforum, then throw it there

Too many subforums in my opinion, i kind of think it should be the following:

Brawl Code Sets
Custom Content [tutorials and FAQs and single help thread stickied to the top]
Character Discussion

Right now its wayyyyy too overdone.

Like Smash Workshop General vs other stuff? Workshop Brawl [I would never go there for looking fpr B+ info, I would go to the codesets section]. Keep it simple, as a new user I would have NO idea where to go and its not really intuitive at all...

I don't mind the many subforums, but what I do mind is this:

why does it show the subforums?

I would just like to mention that, because of this, I'm going to be making a major update the SSBBCustom wiki over this and next week. I already mentioned the update on the main page of the Wiki. Pretty great stuff, finally having custom content as a subforum. Will make organizing so much easier.

I'll talk to JV about merging the two forums.

Also, they're still not open?!

May I also ask:

Since there is now a custom content sub forum we can have our own texture shops. Correct? Or do we still have to post them in the Texture Database thread?

Texture shops?

What do you mean?

And you're not restricted to one thread anymore -- you can post anything you created in Customized Content.

Forums are unlocked and ready to post in, by the way

Shops as in a place where we can post our own textures we create rather than having to post them in the texture database where they will be drowned in a sea of posts.

EDIT- I'll take that as a yes. If not feel free to shut down my texture shop at any given time.

Are personal BRSTM showcase threads also allowed? Or do we still have to post all our creations in the Custom Music Hub?

Why wouldn't you post in the Custom Music hub? It's not like you really need a thread to discuss a few songs. Either they work, or they don't.

I like the two-thread system for BRSTMs we've got going on.

While I appreciate the work you've done, I don't see why we would need several more threads dedicated to songs. I'm not going to stop or or anything, but eh.
