Guys I've decided that Peach is top tier (because she seems similar character quality to Marth) but is still 6th.

This doesn't really affect anything. Just thought you should know I think she's a good character.

If you guys shielded in all the spots a bad Peach would typically d-smash out of panic or whatever, you'd reduce your openings by a ton because Peach can do literally everything she needs to do out of shield and d-smash is a huge commitment.

Then you grab the ledge against a good character when recovering
is sheik a good character because I always get excited when i grab the edge against her because I know she's about to go on stage and into a mixup.

I meant like when you are recovering and you have to grab the edge and you have no safe options
oh yeah that is dumb, you have to stall for ages only to use ledge jump in the end anyway lol. Peach sucks, but she's alright sometimes.

Played some smash yesterday, had to sit through people complaing that peach takes no skill to play. I asked them if shes so easy why dont you use her they said "shes not fun to use" so i called them haters and moved on. Still gets annoying and the lack of respect

so while we're on the topic of getting back on stage once you grab the ledge can someone tell me how peach gets back on against marth? i feel like i can cover almost everything just on reaction except for dj back float and then do something. does peach get back her float when she regrabs the ledge or does she have to land on stage? also one guy mentioned stalling. do you mean umbrella stalling or just use your dj or maybe your float to invuln refresh.

You can cover pretty much everything. And iher double jump sucks (speed-wise), so it's not the hardest thing to react to, either. We're supposed to recover high vs Marth anyways.

I am 99.9999999% sure that she doesn't get her float back unless she lands on stage. Otherwise, Peach would be beyond broken.

Stalling is both DJ stalling and umbrella stalling, though vs Marth, I'd feel safer with umbrella stalling (or not being on the ledge in the first place).

Float doesn't come back unless you have actionable frames on the ground. Even roll, standup and get up don't give it back until the animation completes.

To everybody: I will be spending the next week off of smashboards and facebook. I am going to use this time to restructure and refocus things in my life. If you would like to contact me, I will be available on AIM, Skype, FBchat and Text. Technically my PMs go to my email so I may get those as well.

Be civil and keep the discussions rolling. Be cool ya'll
Feel free to request any gifs you want during this time, but contact me in this way. I may be bored.

Also, I noticed one thing armada will do if he knows fox is about to go for an upsmash is to stand his ground and jab=>dsmash, since jab has almost as much range as dsmash but comes out a few frames earlier. I've seen him interrupt upsmash before, and kill with it
So I'm reading through some earlier pages, and found this. Anyone got an example of this jab=>dsmash vs. upsmash thing Armada does? :)

(and thanks for the tip about staying in the air when shined, I didn't realise you could remove the shine stun that way, but it's actually pretty obvious! I feel just knowing this, has improved my knowledge for the matchup TONS).

well, for example, if i am at high percent and fox is running towards my tech location and i am facing fox, i will almost always jab and be ready to DI his uthrow, since those are his two most likely options and peach's jab is a relatively low-lag commitment

Sorry, I do have a specific example, but I can't seem to find it on youtube right now :x
It's Armada vs a fox on FD, and it's fairly recent, and the jab->dsmash to counter the upsmash KO happens after a fox dthrow I think, and Armada techs to the right edge of fd, does the jab right as fox's upsmash is coming out, and dsmashes him.

If anyone else can find the match I'm taking about, I'd really appreciate it

It is, but I don't recall ever actually SEEING it. To specify, if anyone have a video where he does it, it will be greatly appreciated. =p

Does the jab actually hit, or will it "clash" with the upsmash?

I feel like upsmash will trade with jab, and you will lose. It won't clank it, so you have to have the jab out before the upsmash hitbox.

yeah what DoH said is important. Upsmash will cleave through jab if you reacted too late. Meaning you only have a 3 frame window once his upsmash comes out (I think it's a frame 5 move). That's about the same timing as a powershield.

Note if you do the jab too early, your hand could get upsmashed (hurtbox extension), and then you lose the stock anyways

So I don't think it's that reliable, it's more like a risky defensive offense rather than safe defense, which is just shielding and nairing out of shield, since shield comes out on frame 2 as well.

I use it as more of a "look *****, you cant just run up to me and do whatever you want" kinda tool.

A lot of the times the people I play react to my tech and then try to bait my shield or attempt a run behind smash and so the jab just catches them totally off guard. The jab is also nice for catching someone who was just simply too slow with their punish.

I still prefer it to shielding when I pretty much know they're going to a punish because its less predictable.

It took a while for me to realize it, but i'm terrible at fighting puff as well D:

tho I have a good feeling that Bair is the key to fighting puff.

In the meantime, I'll just puff ditto them all. lol
