I'm actually surprised VaNz, Unknown, and M2K aren't on like... 5-7 of these. For the obscure characters that nobody bothers to use.

Ripple's legit, I think it's just he hasn't played much in the past 1.5years or something and uses Roy a lot more than DK is why I'm better at this point. And I've been traveling to every national for a bit over a year in comparison.

I'm pretty sure Hack should be on more chars (low-tiers) than Kirby. Maybe not as the best, but he's definitely one of the few good multi-mains.

I wouldn't put me down for DK (yet) I'm super rusty and I main Roy anyways. Plus, I only pull out DK for Peach/samus/Ics/Puff. My Roy is probably 2nd to V-man.

although before Apex at Brainshock beta I was considerably better than Strongbad. and that was probably my prime

Who the **** cares, if you don't use them a lot (more than just once) in tournament, then you shouldnt be ranked on them.

if you had the best dk in the world but you only used him once tournament and all the little pure dk mains didn't come close why can't you be the best DK for the next year?

people need to recognize that people like M2K put a lot of work into their low tiers and when they whip them out they usually do a lot better than the pure mains do just because they're better players

i think we need to get off this "no u can only play and be the best at one character" thing.

Like I remember when people said Mango's falcon didn't count for one of the best falcons because he wasn't pure like the other falcon mains. **** that ****. mango's got a nice falcon and he totally counts. he counts for Link too so watch the **** out Skler

Well, the definition most people use for "best [character] player" is dumb.
Like leffen said, it's probably Armada and Mango on most of them, but because this would make this very important topic meaningless, new badly defined rules are introduced on when a character is mained or not.

Lol I'm sorry I'm generally on no one's side when attempting to make a list which is why a lot of them are biased. The best way to do it is to look at it with objectivity, same goes for tactical purposes.

this doesn't really have much weight since it's not based on tourney results, but i think ice is the next best marth "main" behind taj.

i played him in a bunch of friendlies on day 3 of apex, and my mind was blown. i think his poor performance was *insert johns here*, but i think he's going to do mad work the next time he shows up in the US.

oh yeah. I was in on that rotation. That was pretty fun.

m2k and mango would be on most of the low tier top 4 lists.

armada, hbox, and pp would be on quite a few of them too.

melee is a heavily skill based game. many low tier players enjoy playing low tiers because it gives them an element of uniqueness among the community, but the simple fact is that the most skilled player will usually win regardless of character.

m2k's encyclopedic knowledge of the game and mango's mastery of melee's mechanics in general would put them on many top 4 lists (probably at least 10-15)

Hax deff takes title of best falcon, since ss, scar, and darkrain stopped playing for however long hax got much better.

And also I prolly shoulda specified if it was best player for each character or player who mains that character cause there is a difference.

I kinda disagree, in my opinion he kinda rose to the standards SS and Darkrain had. Darkrain whenever he comes back he's just like back in form lol. Right now s2j seems to be pulling better results than hax as well.

I think Hax is probably a little more safer and is better at some of the fundamentals, but you will definitely go off on people/catch them off guard with some things. I definitely think you have the potential to be better S2J but honestly couldn't tell you what you would have to do. Just keep putting in work, I love watching you play man and I hope you still enjoy playing it.

I wanna see a s2j vs darkrain falcon ditto, as well as s2j vs jeapie falcon ditto(I can imagine the amount of sheild drops/ledge cancel to sex combos).

Besides this, Darkrain vs all top level falcons would do for me.

It's hard to talk about top Marths because none of us (M2K excepted, maybe, I guess, somewhat, you could say, sort of) ever seem to really break top 5. Like, what's the highest Marth placing recently at a very big tournament?

I will say that PPU's style is always lots of fun for me to watch. Niko's doing some cool stuff too. Dart is pretty reliable against Fox/Falcon. But it's really hard to say cuz we would probably all get beaten by top-9 placers.

Oh, and Hax/S2J are both fantastic and probably pretty close. From what I've seen on recent vids, I would give it to S2J, though...
