Somehow, the North Atlantic tourney scene has stayed healthy without much talk of banning MK.

Also, if you're really that big of a sirlin fan, you ought to know that he doesn't think people really ought to be like him. He recognizes that games are games, and that there are more important things in life. His writing applies pretty much only to people who want to play a game for no reason other than winning. That's not many people here.

If that's you, cool, good luck, and more power to you. But looking down on someone because they play games for reasons other than winning, thats just......****ing lame.

alright so let me get this straight.
These are teh facts as of right now... baring anykind of speculation for the future.
OS: Mk is centralising the metagame completely around him and there is absolutely no way that you can legally in a tournament put him at a disadvantage. and playing him is, at this point, the only way to make money in big tourneys
M2K: You cant ban him just because he is the best character in the game because Ninjalink, Snakeee, DSF, and like two other guys have beaten MKs including myself in tourneys. Also, despite the fact the shuttle loop and tornado are amazing moves, everybody hasnt experimented enough to find out exactly which move beat them, and on what occasion to use said moves.

KID: MK is broken and once the best MKs learn all of the potential matchups, he will dominate everything even more than he does right now. check ankokus sig, MK is at 40%. now i dont know if that is total tourney wins, or all the top 8s of those tourneys but either way that number is effed up. However this arguement, while strong is not quite good enough to sway over enough people to actually implement the ban.

personally i have to think that i will have to come up here with the statement that MK wins more tourneys than any other character combined before some people will consider this ban.
and until than the 2 sides of this arguement will just be at a standstill, until either,

1. there is somekind of inescapable 0-death combo found on him.
or:
2. the number on ankokus sig goes up to 67% (thats more than two thirds, and even yuna would agree to a ban at that point...)

this maybe my bias showing, but i really dont see what huge benefit OS will get if/when MK is banned
i dont understand peoples reasons for saying he has ulterior motives for banning Mk, i mean he already uses Mk in tourneys right, and if hes banned hell just go back to ROB. i fail to see that point

From what M2K has said, a lot of his dominance with MK is from using things other people just haven't figured out yet. So he's provided evidence of this one, and nothing as proof that other characters will pick up realistically mastered ways to fight it.

Having to be pro level to attain a 50:50 matchup vs. MK is not realistic.

I beat Sethlon's Falco with MK after using him for two weeks. Sethlon is ****ing amazing. I don't even need to post my massive amount of arguments from the SBR. I beat Sethlon with a two week old MK (and I played maybe like 2-3 days of those 2 weeks).

two: 45-55 is just as close to 50-50 as it is to 40-60. i don't know why people keep saying 45-55 is "close enough" to 50-50 to be neutral when 45-55 is equally close to what has been called a soft counter by the people who keep using this failure argument.

The fact that Lee beat Sethlon, a well respected and all around great player after using a character for two weeks is not something that should be looked over. It's not like people are sucking his ****, are you saying it makes sense that someone who's really good at this game should lose to a player who's been using a character for like 2 weeks?

It has just dawned upon me that people might be spending more time theorycrafting on these boards instead of actually playing the game...

@Lee: Would you consider yourself a better player than Sethlon? Regardless of the amount of time you spent on him (everyone knows that MK is pretty straightforward), did you win because he lacked experience in the matchup (unlikely considering his credz), because you outsmarted him or simply because you found it much easier to shut him down (well this should be obvious)? How did Sethlon feel about your set? I don't mean to beat on a dead horse, but Brawl being not so techskill oriented, it basically all boils down to spacing, and if you outdid him in that area, than you deserved a win.

I don't even know where I stand on this issue anymore. This bandwagon phenomenon makes it so pathetic attempts at arguments get the green card, on either side. On which side is the SBR leaning atm, and why?
