Okay guys. I'm going to my first ever local tournament.

But uh, I need some tips or advice. What should I expect? I'm not particularly social when it comes to an IRL ordeal. You have to be my friend or nothing will come out of my mouth. Should I be concerned I'll (possibly) be the youngest there (maybe not, fliers were posted in my school)? :S How do I keep from being nervous from shaking or embarrassed about how noob I will look?

Oh and HUGGGGEE question. Explain to me the stage striking system. The whole thing bewilders me.

All in all I hope to have fun. Wish me luck fellow Peachies. D;

The only reason I won't go is if my parents decide not to drive me to the venue which is only 5 minutes away.

If videos are posted I will let you know. Oh and I'm trying to practice but that isn't going well at all.
whenever I'm nervous for a social ordeal I do drugs, and I'm dead serious. xanas, hydrocodone, alcohol, weed, etc. whatever floats your damn BOAT booney

like for instance I have to give a speech tomorrow for my COMM 3310 course, and I'm gonna take some xanax and feel like a ****ing BAWSS and not give a ****.

but I'm a real motha ****a, you gotta check yaself before ya wreck ya self, ya dig. big ****s in ya *** is bad for your health.

oh and I almost forgot the most important thing, STAY BLACK.

Don't stress out about it. Break the ice with a couple of friendlies. Focus on your matches when you're playing. Relax. Have fun. People make these things seem so much more serious than they are, but they're not. You'll have a blast!

3DS, blegh. Is Paper Mario out for that yet? I'm 10 times more excited for the Playstation Vita. It's gonna have Lumines! And it has 3 touch screens, eleven cameras, predicts your location using global positioning, and comes cast with an undetectable charm.

whenever I'm nervous for a social ordeal I do drugs

It's such a half-***** system. Between that and Brawl, I've developed a distaste for Nintendo. I hope they fail this generation. It would be the wake-up call needed for them to start making interesting stuff again, and not just NEW New Super Mario Brothers Cash Grab 3: In Space!

One-trick crappy peripheral included!

I'm waiting for The Wii U to start *****ing at Nintendo. There's no reason that piece of crap should be a success in the market but I know it will be anyways because of all the hardcore fanboys.

I actually don't think it will. It's branded so close to the Wii, people are not going to throw away $300 to update the same system they've been bored with for the past three years. The Wii U is confusing, redundant, and most of all ultra-boring. I'm sorry, but when touch-screen menus are the high selling point, your system is going to fail.

No number of 10/10 Famitsu-graded Mario and Smash sequels are going to save that.

I could not agree more

I'm going to wait before I (and that's if I) get a Wii U when it launches. There'll be some sort of catch I know there will be, like there was with the Wii and how horrible and limited it was in comparison to other systems. The controller already has me worried. I wanted to get a 3DS but with the announcement that StarFox won't have online multiplayer, I really don't think I'm going to bother - in this day and age, not having at least something like that is really unacceptable
I also can't be bothered to play the same game again and again. Ever since I went to Uni I've realised just how expensive gaming can be

Nintendo's stuff has been such a let down recently, it's all remakes and half arsed stuff. Nothing excites me anymore these days. The only reason they've got away with it imo is that everyone else in the world is only now starting to play video games and missed out on all the originals - it's all new to them whereas to us gamers, it's the same stuff over and over again...not that it stops people buying since the fanbase are so dedicated

I miss the Gamecube :c And in other news, I decided to play Pokemon Sapphire the other day and when I turned it on it told me the internal battery had run dry :( At least it didn't delete my save unlike Pokemon Gold :urg:

Okay guys, thanks. Though I still need more information about the stage striking system, as it does use the Unity Ruleset (what doesn't?).
Stage striking is easiest when you go into the random stage select screen. You turn on only the seven starters, and you and your opponent take turns striking/removing stages you dislike. For example, you could strike BF, then your opponent strikes Castle Siege, then you strike FD, and so on until you finally end up with one stage to play on, say Yoshi's Island.

Battlefield
Castle Siege
Final Destination
Lylat Cruise
Pokemon Stadium 1
Smashville
Yoshi's Island (Brawl)

Unity Ruleset said:
The first game is played on a Stage selected from the Starter Stage List either by mutual consent or through the Stage Striking Method. The order of stage striking will be 2-3-1 (Team 1 strikes two stages, followed by Team 2 striking three stages, with Team 1 then striking one of the two remaining stages).
I'm so proud of us moving up to 7 starters.

Thank you. Though when it comes to the counterpicks it gets confusing. I'm not sure if I'm overthinking it, interpreting the system wrong or whatever but I don't really something.

If you lose, your opponent bans a stage that he doesnt want to play on against you. Then you choose a stage you want to play on.

If you win, you ban a stage. Your opponent chooses a stage.

You can choose a stage from the starter list or the counterpick list. I'd post the stage list but I'm on my phone.
