It's hard to make a definitive statement on players from outside US/Canada because we haven't seen them up close yet.

I personally feel Calle could be top 5 easily.

its obvious that hes better than the vast majority of players but until he makes a few international showings, he's not in contention for anything above 6th place.

I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to give the 5th spot to Forward for a variety of reasons, but I feel the players listed in 5~10 are really close skill-wise.

I'm also probably forgetting people.

I don't think there are "quite a few" that are on the level of the people I mentioned.

Maybe like.. 1 or 2 lolol.

Scar getting 9th is not unreasonable. It happened for a reason. Please study his bracket and realize WHY he placed so well in comparison to the other Falcons.
I made a typo. Scar got 5th at at 290 national tournament, not 9th. THAT IS COMPLETELY UNREASONABLE!! Scar hasn't gotten top 5 at a national before that an he has gotten top 5 at a national since then either. Though he's a good player I think you're overrating Scar a lot(perhaps because of his performance at Genesis)

While I agree that Scar did way better than is expected (he tied Mew2King), he did get a very fortunate bracket.

Winners' bracket
Defeated FZero
Defeated azn lep
Defeated Taj
Defeated Lambchops
Defeated Raistlin
Lost to Mango

Losers' bracket
Lost to Hungrybox

He also did beat Lambchops and Raistlin, which isn't anything to sneeze at. His section of the bracket also had several upsets so he didn't have to face certain players (Colbol lost to Eddie Mexico, Jman lost to Axe), and Falsefalco lost to Lambchops, who Scar would have had to face if that didn't happen (Falsefalco beat Scar 2-0 in Pools).

Scar got really lucky that his possible threats were taken out before he faced them, and he also did beat Lambchops and Raistlin. Scar got incredibly lucky, which is why he hasn't done well before or after at any other nationals.

It's the same thing why Plank got 9th at Pound 4.

A lot of theories...but what happened, happened. You can't really take that away from anyone. Also...Scar had made MAJOR improvement leading up to that tournament. He rode the wave of his success like any good player.

Recent example:
Seasons beatings....Daigo lost...to Marn and that Bison player. (Who gave him the business at the SSF4 exhibition) 25th for Daigo!? I actually am not surprised that Marn did well against him...since he has the experience. (Valle) Plus he went to japan and played well over there, too. J. Wong got 3rd.

You tend to have to pool overall information. You also don't know who is a bad match-up for a person or not. It could just so happen that you run into that one person that has your number, and it could throw off your whole tournament performance.

Agreed. You could've posted this back when players were saying Amsah sucked because he lost to lucky. All of the top 5 Have ran into someone who just made them look like they weren't top 5.

Smashboards is like like a highly opinionated leaf. I'm not explaining the rest of the parable.

You left out
PC
Faab
Silent Wolf
Aldwyn
Baxon

to name a few.
Of those, 2 are fox mains, one of which rarely plays, and 3 of them just aren't on the same level as the players I mentioned.

Stop trying, kid.

Also; Thanks t3h icy for backing me up. When you have large brackets, what Scar got for a bracket happens.

..PC doesn't even count as a falco main anymore, it's literally been like 3 years.

The other Euro falcos are good, but as of now they aren't anywhere near top 5 falcos. Of course this goes back to my 'ignorance' of how it hasn't been proved (since america apparently isn't better) so in a 'logical' sense, they're just as good until proven otherwise.

But, IN MY OPINION, they aren't close to top 5 yet. I hardly see Aldywn so i dunno where your basis is from that, he has like no youtube videos nowadays. Faabs probably around b0_10/dieslow's level, possibly a little lower.

Silent wolf is top 10 imo. i haven't really seen his placings at an international/national for a bit, but i know he's still getting better and better.

You're such an idiot you haven't even provided an argument as to why Hax is better. What's your problem?
because I dont actually care who's better, I was just pointing out that your original statement about hax "not making an impact (top 8) anymore" is ********, especially in light of the fact that SS has never placed top 8 at a national.

I was more so attacking your reasoning for being completely nonsensical and illogical, than your opinion.

Jpobs, while you have good points regarding the conclusions people make off of results, I wouldn't go so far as to say that all evidence points to Hax being better than SS.
point taken. That was an exaggeration.

The three best players are Mango, Hungrybox and Mew2king, without a doubt...

Well, I mean that's not a fair statement considering Armada beat M2K last time they played. Not necessarily saying he's better because of that, but i mean it should be leaning more towards armada with him placing over m2k at every tourny he's been at.

Lol, my post was a bit awkward, but you got the point, at least.

Certain things are going to remain in a bit of "ignorance", sadly, until proven otherwise. HOWEVER, it is safe to say that top 5 still includes: Mango/M2K/Armada.

I would personally go out there and say that Amsah and HBox are involved in that top 5. People may call me insane, but I think it looks a little something like this:

Mango
HBox
Armada/M2K/Amsah

Skill alone would lead you to the conclusion that These are the top 5 and undeniably so. Close to there would be players like: Axe/Calle W(Still would like to see over here)/ DrPP

Now I can honestly say that this is me speaking without bias. There are a few other players out there I want to investigate further before continuing. (Fuzzyness being a major factor)

The ones mentioned are outstanding players, and despite their track record, people will still disagree. They also might say it's just opinion. (Which is fine.) Spam is right, however. It's a lot of opinion here. Opinions are like butts...everyone has them..not everyone wants to experience them. Granted...some are appealing, xD.

LOL, Maybe they play fox more these days but so does forward, as well as sheik. I also never said they should be top 5 but are probably in the 6-10 range. I mean they do consistantly place just as high in their regions as the other Falco's. Some place even higher. Get over your Amarrogance.

Amarrogance = American+Arrogant

Spam, you're trying to say you know who Forward plays better than someone who lives in the same state as him?

Why do you even try?

I'm sure you're committing some kind of fallacy here.

Zhu, PP, Shiz, etc. are undeniably better than our Falco's, but that does not mean that all US players are to be considered better than everyone else until proven otherwise.

So you sectioned off that part of my post while completely ignoring everything else. In order to make yourself feel...right?

another thing. How can you be around all these amazing players coming out of that area and yet none of it has rubbed off on you?

I'm actually pretty good in comparison to the average player.

I'm just not on the same level, mentally, as the amazing players.

I'm getting there, though.

I'd like to say the same thing about my Marth. Most of it is just from....youtube vids, Smashboards post, and simply just being around the game for years. Gives me a slight edge over people who haven't. I'd say I'm slightly above Mediocre for a Marth.

debating these lists are nonsense, because after the top six or so, it all gets pretty hazy.
I'm guessing we are leaving out retired players. Mango seems to have cemented himself as best in the world right now, beating everything in sight easily [except maybe armada, kage, silentspectre =)]

after mango, hbox m2k and armada are pretty obvious. But after them, its hard to say.
here's a list of who I think are good players if anyone feels like organizing them
jman [fox], lucky [fox], shiz [falco], zhu [falco], forward [falco] dr. pp [falco]
silentspectre, darkrain, scar, hazard [all falcons]

axe [pika], taj [mewtwo], chu [retired?] these guys could probably be even better if they weren't obsessed with low tier characters

amsah, kage, calle w... i don't know, that's all I can think of. if anyone feels like adding go ahead

I'm not "slightly above mediocre though." I'm much better than that.

Things that will happen at ROM 3:

-Hungrybox gets 2nd
-Kage beats Mango again (2-1)
-Someone that upsets through the bracket places 9th
-Jman doesn't suffer an upset this time (Axe, Dr.PP, Amsah, Axe)

Your so mad because nobody respects you as a Puff player. Step up your game then don't try and take it out on me.

how is losing to amsah or pp an upset for jman?
Jman has shown that he's been able to compete and win against the top 3 in the US/World. I didn't really consider him vs amsah that big of an upset because they were about even but then....the SD happened :(. He usually beat PP when they played in the past so nobody expected it.
