Hello I just started using Sheik and I want to know what moves do I use to appoarch. I dont want to spam F-air to F-tilt all the time because it doesn't get me anywhere. Against Fox, what should I be doing and what i shouldn't do? I noticed that I always get ***** by upthrow to Up-air or get Upsmash'd out of Shield etc.

Thank you

Urm, I'm sure you meant ftilt to fair.

FOr fox...hmmm. My general strategy is to just keep moving around until i can bait something that i can grab. then i tech chase for a while. Really you ideally don't want to be approachign foxie. Bait him into approaching you then get a grab, or an ftilt, to more tech chase.

I dunno.

yea thats prolly the best. Baiting would, in general, be making a move on fox as if u were trying to directly attack him so that he will be provoked to attack back. Some people get confused that baiting is just camping, which is partially true but not the only option.

No, I do F-air to F-tilt alot lol, but do i just throw needles or throw a move away to make the Fox approach toward me? Thanks for the advice by the way.

Recently I noticed that a lot of Jiggs players get hit by dthrow uair at killing percent. Isn't it possible to DI away and avoid this? Or ... does that just lead to getting faired?

My controller yeah...:urg:

I thought you were talking about the fact that I use PAL Sheik...:embarrass:
PAL Sheik is more balanced and probably more healthy for the metagame than NTSC Sheik by leaps and bounds.

I may tease the PAL Sheiks about having a handicapped D-throw and Uair, but I have a lot of respect for the good PAL Sheiks. I think it's considerably easier to be decent with her in NTSC. Her metagame is largely centered around one move.

Foxes can shine out of tech chases so dont abuse it! Unless they dont know about it. Sometimes after d throw just wait there. They react(SPOT DOGE UPSMASH etc) and you can punish.

Omg I gotta say wd back to grab works like a charm.

Fox can be grabbed through his tech animation.

Standing tech is invincible for 20/26 frames. Tech rolls are different, I don't know the numbers off by heart and can't be bothered to look but it's about 24 / 32 or something.

So when you tech chase, you're grabbing them through their animation. They never get the chance to Shine if you do it fast enough. But this takes practice and conditioning and is very easy to mess up. However, it works.

Seriously?
Seriously. Sheik can actually D-throw Uair Puff at any percent, even 0, even if she DIs away. Same for Samus and Luigi. Some follows are better, though, so it goes largely unused. I think Uair is great around 30.

I havent seen sheik's consitantly do it on foxes the same way they do it on falcons. Although I was aware you do grab through animations I was under the thought that the shine could just out beat your grab because it's fast. Funny its usually when they tech away (either behind or in front me) is when I get shined. I find dash attack a better tech chasing option at times then following up with grabs.

Maybe Im not reading the tech fast enough? Or Im inputing the grab command to late as far as regrabing goes?

I can do it too actually.

Its very possible, it just takes a bit of practice.

Also if you mess up the tech chase a bit (As in reacting a moment too late etc) I usually tech chase dsmash since it covers most of the options.

Tech to either side is fairly easy to read and chase the one you have to be careful about is the backward DI into tech in place.

Space animals can shine -> move you and it swing the momentum >_<

to beat backward di into tech in place

wd backwards

then it's exactly the same as any other tech chase. same thing applies if they DI away and tech in place

tope does have amazing reactions. but i still have trouble reacting to tech in place. i have to somewhat predict that they will tech in place, or otherwise have some sort of inclination that they will do so for me to be able to react to it

I remember Magus said something about watching Fox's legs to determine the tech direction in his post. You guys can look it up if you want.

You have a 6 frame window to hit the grab on a tech in place. If they're Shining you, you're probably not being fast enough. Or you're grabbing when they're still invincible from the tech animation and then being punished in the lag but I doubt it.
