i was at the tourney. but i hadn't registered. I really wished that i had. Watching everyone play their matches while i couldn't sucked so bad. And there weren't alot of friendly tv's saturday. Last time I ever go to a tourney without entering...it's too painful:(

I figured i was rusty from not playing and I opted to blow all my money on new years...

i got it back pretty quick in friendlies though. doubt i woulda made brackets, pools were stacked. maybe 2nd or 3rd round pools.

still good time though, saw alot of old friends, met alot of new kids.

I played overtriforce, his sheik was pretty sexy, but his accent was so thick we couldn't really talk lol

I talked to amsah a lil bit, congratulated him on his armada victory, glad he went sheik. his hair was inspirational. Been growin ma fro out for like a year. Wonder how many years it took to grow that out

I rarely go all the way to death.

I'm working on it, though.
Can you think of any 0-death tech chases that are recorded?
Also, dumb question, but how do I get better tech chasing? Practice, I know, but there has to be a way to do it solo.

stuck in shield, you can wd oos, roll, or nair. but it must be done when they don't time it correctly, which is half the time so look for the early aerials so you can react

You could also try to roll with c-stick, I haven't tried it when being pillared but I know that when you keep shielding and keep your c-stick left or right you will roll at the first time it's possible (and you will keep rolling until you release it). Also, if you know falco is gonna dair you, you could try to angle your shield up so he will miss his l-cancel, and then you can shieldgrab or nair easier, but you need some time in advance to do this

Ya you can buffer rolls with c stick. I been playing with it and its pretty good. Brinstar is a great vs spacies. I think i could have gotten shiz down to a stock there if i didn't **** my recovery up there lol. Any way lava combos ***** space animals there and its very hard for them to sweet spot there. Its really gay thus making it good. And like scum said learn to power shield.

You can crouch under a lot of lasers too, and dash attack under them.
Crouching is top tier vs lasers in my book.

If a Sheiks camping like that I don't think its beatable. You could wave dash back and get the edge but they can go run to the other edge and shino stall. Not much Jman could have done but approach the edge and be put in a very unfavorable position.

sheiks edgestall is hardly unbeatable

if u take their edge mid up-b, they can choose to either die, or land on stage with lag

fox can firefox stall and do the same exact thing (albeit harder to do frame perfect)

his stall is technically better

he didnt get ***** by that... in fact he was making a comeback as amsah was doing that. all the momentum was swinging towards jman and if he didnt fall into a gimp, he might have won.

That's the point.

If you do something wrong or the Sheik predicts your approach/fakeout right, even mediocre Sheiks can gimp you easily.

in think a lot of people have misconceptions about sheiks shino stall because of how flashy/complicated it looks. i really think its no different than any other ledgestall, its just that since sheiks ledgehop takes so long (imagine that sheik having a bad first jump >.>) she loses invulnerability so she can't ledgestall properly. Instead sheik must shino stall. There are better stalls, i find ganondorfs pretty solid

I was fooling around and I found out something I thought was neat.

-stand on the edge of one of the middle platforms on yoshis (the edge that's closest to the blast zone)
-standing up b, then hold down, then release like a shino stall. You do the standing up b animation, fall through the platform, and grab the edge.

I just though it was cool. And I guess vanish can go through platforms if you start the move while standing on one.

@ Luma. A fox who is technical enough on the ledgestall won't get needled. its really not that hard to do with fox once you practice, easier than shino stall I'd say.

Just as an fyi.

The Shino stall has a huge frame window for error. (iirc Magus told me it was like 10 frames? Not sure about exact value)

Where the firefox stall has a frame window for error of somewhere close to 1 frame iirc.

Any stall that doesn't have invincibility on the move used in the stall before grabbing it like Sheik's and Mewtwo's has a 0 frame window for error. The ledge grab lag+regrab waiting period is the exact amount of invincibility you get from the edge.

Maybe I've just been playing fox for like two years. And sheik for one half.
Or maybe my firefox isn't perfect, though I think it is.

Oh well. I thought the vanish through the stage had probably been talked about. I was kind of hoping people would say something like, "yeah, and it works on battlefield too," or "this move sucks."

I kinda wish you could angle sheiks up-b towards the edge hwile still on the stage like fox/falcos up-b.
