I want to expect better of you, but I know not to
from my gmail chat with scar earlier today after he watched Mango's CF vs. HBox

Scar: i hate mango
he makes this game look so easy
so what i've gathered is that you have to outspace jiggs
and that it's ok to trade knee with her moves but nothing else

downthrow knee lol

cant you do that from like 0 till whenever ?
uhh actually...

yea Jiggs can rest you out of the knee. I think if you space it right you can hit with the knee without you knee going inside Jigg's rest hitbox but I don't actually know.

the aerial doesnt stop your momentum

DI'ing back immediately after will shorten it and bring you back to the wall so you can do more

What should I be doing vs. Marth? Everyone says Falcon has the potential to do well, but I just can't see it. He just cuts through my nairs with whatever he wants then knocks me down. Once that happens, its over. If I try to face him and keep him out with nair, he blatantly outspaces me. Bair is even worse, because once I'm done my aerial he runs in and I can't shield grab him because I'm facing the other direction. Getting into his face difficult as well.

Not to mention this all gets 5x as worse on smaller levels. Advice would be much appreciated.

whos marth are you going against?

just dd alot and basically just bait a nair or grab

do as much as you can and then dd again

if they just run up as you dd and you dont know what to do just full jump and get away

i think smaller stages **** marth
like yoshis story battlefield and fod
even tho fod messes me up alot

maybe its just cuz i like small stages

if marth does a rising sh fair against your shield, you can usually sh nair him before he can do whatever else. this is good for when people are trying to space sh double fair on your shield.

i'm not POSITIVE it works but it's what i usually try to do

shield a lot when he jumps, and wd out of shield a lot to mess up his spacing or nair out if he's close enough

you really cant just approach with nairs, cause marth can just cut through them with like any move he has. knee is probably a better approach, because you'll end up trading sometimes and thats way better. either way, approaching is not that great vs marth so dd a lot, get a feel for when the marth likes to do moves, and then do your own moves to hit them right afterwards

its a dangerous matchup that i think marth wins, but you can get a lot of mileage out of small mistakes marth makes

Marth is pretty vulnerable for awhile if he tries a double fair. That's why no one does it. But if he does, feel free to be awesome.

conversely if he double fairs, he can space the first one so it intentionally misses, then your like "oh i can haz punish?"

and then marth is like "lol jk, eat this second fair"

it works because no one double fairs as an approach, and a dd falcon is just looking for attacks he think he baited to punish, in which case its like reverse bait.

mindgames.

if falcon is dd then it sounds like he ran into the second fair and marth didnt really space it lol.

double fair is done for intimidation and to keep space. fair to grab is wayy more effective as an approach.

I never see Mango's Falcon outside of dittos vs. top Falcon players, where he holds his own disgustingly well. I try to rationalize that he may have tied Darkrain across dozens of games, but maybe he'd do worse against a third party like say Zhu than Darkrain would. There's no real reason to believe that besides just-world telling me that Mango can't be the best at everyone because it's not fair.

Hey I've got a question for you, when are we going to see something in the way of IKM3? Sorry if that's been asked before, or a lot, but search turned up nothing.

Lately I've been having trouble comboing Marth our of Grabs. Especially at low percents. If I down throw, He DI's down and away and I am unable to get a hit in before he techs. If I up throw, he somehow always manages to hit me before I can hit him.

Suggestions?

yeah mogwai is correct. dthrow can lead to regrab or techchase. uthrow at 30 or higher will combo into uair or nair. uthrow at I believe 70 or higher can lead into knee, I'm not sure if 70 is when it starts but I know it's close
