It seems to me...Just treading through all the treads I see the word **** used alot :D. Like oh Armada ***** this and Mango ***** that...It seems **** has been incorporated in the community, like everytime i watch a melee vs match I hear someone saying **** and alot of youtube comments too lol....I know Mango has those **** videos, but I think like Obama's campaign slogan...we need a change! So lets figure out a way to say I ***** someone a new way! I know when I'm play CoD with ppl they never used the word ****.. but when I was playing with SS, Tang(he was hella funny kept saying SS beat armada), Myko, and my friend Kurtis they use the word ****.


I personally use it too much, thats why I am looking for a change...like kick ***, kiss the baby(ochocinco <3), , MegaFinished.... I don't know.....

p.s I think I will forever use the word......it is sacred in the way we use it

Then my friends started saying it either because it caught on with them or just to spite me, and I didn't realize how annoying it sounds until they directed it at me.

I tried to stop saying it so much after that, but I still slip sometimes D:.

Well while I try not say it out loud unless im around smashers if its within the community theres nothing wrong with it, but I've personally said stuff like "Get wrecked" and I have heard a lot smashers say wrecked to.

I was around my friends (NONE of them smashers) and out of habit I yell "Get *****!" And everyone just blankly started at me.

Ultimately the word is just another sign of what a male dominated field competitive video games are. My GF hates the word so I've pretty much stopped using it/try my best not to. We do need an alternative.

I don't really use the term anymore. It seems that making sexual references when mentioning smash is becoming more of a trend. I use "wrecked" or "destroyed" and it can be used in most sentences that would otherwise have had the word "****" in them. It kinda makes me sad seeing so much sexual language around.

Then again, I tend to say "****" with the Spanish smashers as it is pronounced differently (ra-pe) and sounds actually funny, it's like an inside joke making a bit of fun of english.

I'd imagine the people who'd take most offense to the use of '****' are people who have had experiences with it or family members/close friends who have had experiences with it. I guess I'd be fine with it at a smash tournament or something if no one is saying anything... But I do know one guy who just sighs and gets really annoyed when we use that word so I just kinda stop. I'm not saying he might've had experiences with it, but some people really do take that word at face value and get offended. Unfortunately, the internet is not so sensitive.

I think it's interesting to discuss the use of the word "****" in other languages. In my language, the word is also used as "butchering" a piece of litterary work, such as a bad movie adaptation, or a remake. Whenever it's used in "person x ***** person y" I get bad images in my head @_@
My smash community sometimes uses the English word though, since it's not uncommon for Danish people to use a lot of English words when they speak.

I guess the word "****" doesn't have the unfortunate sexual implication to me, because I'm not a native English speaker. I just see and hear it beeing used all the time by Americans, lol
