JV asked if they wanted more space and they both said they where fine. if M2K wanted them to stop he coulda said something to JV and JV woulda put an end to it than and there. it shouldnt of been taken as far as it did but u cant do anything about it now.

i came tot he tourny expecting to have to trash talk cause its juss happens on the EC and i accept that so i plan on doing it back.

Word to pockyD. The crowd is there, you deal with it.

How about this, next major tournament has a bleacher section that the crowd must sit in? That way the players don't have to see faces in their peripheral vision who are talking ****, and if even if the loudest person was in the front row, they'd still be a good 10, 15, 20 or whatever feet away from the players, so they're not shouting in their ears.
or let's skip all the trouble and not verbally attack any of the players

there's nothing wrong with trash talking. i talked **** to pc & m2k when they went vs team nasty, but they're both my friends

what a bad john for making things personal, "the crowd is there, you deal with it."
doesn't quite justify some of the comments that were thrown at pc and m2k..
and also much easier said than done

leave the malice at home

No trash talking to M2K could have been half as bad as the stuff Forward yells at B-Will during matches. That **** is hilarious. But it just rolls off of him. It's just friendly joking, it only sounds harsh to people who don't know him. If anything, you should feel honored to have been trash talked by Forward.

It's not malicious, it's just messing around. I remember during the lunch break of T5 I drove away and saw Forward standing by the street. I drove by him and shouted "Sean you suck!". He flipped me off and smiled. That's just the way it is, it's like a wierd kind of handshake.

So don't think that Forward was "hating" because he wasn't. I've heard him say nothing but great things about M2K from his stay with him. Just ask B-will... (or his mom, lol)

About affecting the game: Of course it does. But so does a lot of things. Like personally, my hands tend to sweat profusely when I play and it affects me. But I can't insist that all tournaments be held in well ventilated, air conditioned venues. If you lose, you lose. The rest are johns.

If smash and the rest of competitive eGaming are to grow, we have to try to emulate other established sports. Home field advantage from the crowd is part of the dynamic.

Personally, I also think that coaching during play should be allowed, but there's a topic for another day.

I noticed M2k was playing well at the beginning, but when it came down to the match with Chudat, he seemed to be doing really easy mistakes.

No johns etc. but I think the trash talking was getting out of hand. EG. playing in the basement, that would have gotten me angry if I were in m2k's shoes.

The crowd should only be allowed to ooh and aaah when something nice happens, or just cheer on with generic statements like "lets go". but insulting is wrong.

In any case, M2k keep kicking ***, I hope you **** even more the next tourney.

Step it up or cry more.

Peace
I'm sure I'm not the only one to find irony in that.

Trash talk and cheer all you want, regardless of whether people think there should be total silence or stadium-level noise, but the second you mention something not having to do with smash/personal attacks, all credibility goes out the window. It's a ****ing smash brothers tournament, not a gangsta rap battle.
And besides, M2K- how much prize $$ did you get? And how much prize $$ did forward get?

shooting clutch free throws? kicking a field goal at the end of the 4th quarter? hitting with a full count in the bottom of the 9th? even PKs in soccer?

come on; in the most widely accepted and popular sports, crowd noise is MANDATORY if it is the opposing player on the spot and you think throwing him off would help you win the game

what sports were you thinking of? golf? tennis? a big reason those sports aren't very popular in america (as spectator sports anyway) is because you can't really get into it, and as americans we want to be pumped up for who we're cheering for and even if we don't intend to go all-out with our cheering, know that we could if we truly wanted to
all of those events at least allowed the player to have their own personal space. M2K was literally in the midst of the crowd playing a final match with people less than 2 feet from him screaming like no one's business. i'm not saying you can't **** talk or be loud when it comes to cheering. i love it. it just isn't cool when the players happen to be a part of the crowd.

your hands sweating from the room being slightly off room temparture can't be compared to what we're talking about. don't be ignorant.

but i agree with Watty. jv did ask if they need more space, although even then, the crowd would have simply just moved forward closer to them. jv was primarily making more space so players wouldn't crowd the sides. forward's suggestion sounds ideal, and if the players want certain people to be around them for comfort or support, that should be allowed. anyone who wants to cheer/boo should be kept at a distance.

Greetings from California.

Before the shoutouts, I want to say I pretty much agree with everything in PockyD's post.

PLANK - Great job with this tourney dude. I hella wanted to get some friendlies but I didn't want to bug you while you were running ****e.

JV, AZ, Plank's friends/family/whoever else helped out - All your hard work was greatly appreciated, I think everyone had a great time thanks to your efforts.

Kirb-store, Doll, Chu - Thanks for supplying me with housings and rides. I'm in your debt anytime you come to Norcal. Joe, always a pleasure. Doll and Ryoko, it was really nice meeting you guys. Thank god I didn't have to "Peach ditto all night long."

Sliq - Haha, I know your Puff's seriously good. I really didn't want to ditto. Although, Zelda vs Jiggly is practically as ******** as Jiggly dittos. Jiggly is 100% a head though, so I imagine a rubber helmet would be extremely effective.

Jiano - Dunno what to say, good freaking **** bringing it back that 2nd match, would have been a much different tourney otherwise. Congrats on 3rd man.

MikeyLenetia - Fun set, it was good talking to you. You should get out of MI more and rep your Peach.

Tope - Nice seeing you again man, we should hella team again sometime.

Redd - That rest fcking ***** and you loved it, it's a Hyuga trademark. Good stuff bringing it back the other 2 games though.

Dread, Forward, Taj - Glad I wasn't the only one from the West at this one.

Fonz, PockyD, mog877, Darc, doyoung2win, Kiwi - Nice meeting you guys, I always like to meet fellow hubgoers.

FLORIDA - I love you guys, you're always cool and friendly. Especially SmashMac. FLA @ Chu's house: Nice meeting you guys, fun matches. Colbol is pretty good. I think you should change your name to Cobalt.

Aho, M2K, PC, Cactuar, KM, Chillin - List of people I know and met but didn't get to hang out with enough :/

West Coast.

Mew2King should have punched Forward in his taint.

Twice.
I lul'd.

Forward can say and do whatever he wants, but he really shouldn't be surprised when people treat him like a prick for acting like one.

Getting super personal and petty over a video game is ridiculous.

BTW, I hear Forward is a hermaphrodite.

ok so even if you think the crowd shouldn't be disruptive, or whether the crowd should be allowed even if it's noisy, pretty much every post agrees that m2k got screwed, even forward. This means that it NEEDS A SOLUTION.

When someone needs to be punched to fix the problem, it's clearly out of hand.

altF4warrior- whether or not forward says good things about m2k doesn't really matter, since he still cost him $1000 and the finals placing.

I wish it would have been someone popular that got screwed in the finals like this, like azen or isai. That **** would have been banned halfway through the set. Too many people get special treatment, and it's bull****.

edit: nevermind, it wasn't $1000. It was $1560, exactly.

i fully agree with that. Perhaps Evo isnt the best @ holding tourneys for smash but from what i've seen they give players space by using more feeds(tvs/projectors). Mog had his camcorder doing it, but I was wondering why it wasnt on another TV. This way players wont have to be right next to screaming and the crowd can still yell loud as they want.

People have good points, personally the trash talk and the cheering hype up the match and generate more excitement but i think personal things should be left out. I mean if your trying to say something personal to get in your foe's head cuz u dont have enough skill to win normally maybe u should spend more time practicing then trashtalking thats what im trying to say. if the trashtalking is clean for the most part and mostly smash relataed theres nothing wrong with it at all imo.

You can't really stop all trash talk and if you do you ruin Smash but you have to control because if Jason was in the crowd while that was happening that is a really legit John but still it is unfair kinda like COACHING Chu. But the people in the community gotta learn to give smashers their personal space in the finals cause it isn't kool with someone screaming in your ear as you are playing in finals.

Trash-talking and loud cheering are totally natural and completely acceptable aspects of high-intensity competitions; however, either of those aspects being taken to an excessive degree (personal attacks, extremely obnoxious volume and persistence, etc.) are beyond the realm of legitimate excitement and are just downright distracting to the players. The line needs to be drawn.

Competitiors in high-intensity games or sports are going to need to be able to function in loud or potentially unfriendly environments, but saying that they shouldn't be distracted by people screaming personal insults right in their ears non-stop for twenty minutes is utterly absurd.

this debate should go somewhere else, its spamming the thread with stuff that doesnt really pertain to the tournament. Its over, it happened.

Forward, i have no prob with u but theyre right, you really dont need to be personal about it - ill talk a lot of **** but since i have no personal grudes with any smashers (except manacloud) i wont talk person **** like i have personal grudges.

Keep it to the game and be as loud as you want, that's how i feel about it.

Resume shoutouts please =.=

Ok, I was just reading through the last few posts, and I saw this idea -

"Clean Trash talk"

Wow. Wtf. I'm speechless. Do you guys realize what you are saying? I mean, CLEAN TRASHTALK! LOOOOLLLLL. The phrase is so **** absurd I don't need to say anything about it.

Edit: I thought of something to say. You guys are so ****ing hypocritical this **** is making me sick. Once the tournament ends, all of a sudden I see 74321854237 M2K supporters. Tell me where were you guys during MLG NY? Or where were you during any of the tournaments that M2K tells me about when the crowd hates him?

And most importantly, where were you guys at Pound2? If you all felt so badly for M2K, why did no body step up to the plate to support him and trash talk back? The fact is you guys did nothing to support him, for whatever reason, and now you're stuck feeling guilty about it. But now, behind the safety of your computer, you have all have a chance to redeem yourself by pointing the finger at me. No, it wasn't your fault for not helping your friend when he needed you, it was my fault for being loud, obnoxious, vulgar, personal, and whatever other words you can think of to throw at me. Get outta here with that **** garbage.

Peace

yea, i kinda agree, alot of **** talk is just making fun of people, but i wouldn't say anything too ridiculous, like make fun of their dead mother or something. . i dunno, i cannot judge until i talk to someone and find out exactly what was said

I supported m2k in the team finals and so did chillin >_>

The way I see it though, the trash talking shouldn't really be used as reason for a loss (aka a john). trash talking is going to be loud and obnoxious regardless of who it's directed at or if it's positive cheering or insults towards another player. I guess it's not really viewed as a big deal because it only really happened to mew2king.

I suppose it contributes to confidence, or vice versa. Ignoring trash talk is definitely easier said than done, as most things are. If someone is insulting your playing, or you as a person then obviously it will shake your ability on a certain level. Forward's insults definitely hindered mew2king, but that's just something that couldn't really be helped by anyone but mew2king. There were people on his side, they just weren't being stupidly loud about it.

Since true extroversion is a rare thing among smashers (from my experience) it's not all that common to see someone attacking someone during a serious match like that. I don't really think it's something I would characterize this community by, and since I love this community and pretty much everyone I've met inside of it I'd hate to think that **** throwing should be an accepted part of tournaments.

As for forward's insults directed at m2k as a person during the team finals I guess he was just really upset about him and taj losing to him and pc and decided m2k was an easier target to try and shake up mentally. His decision to attack mew2king several times at the tournament are really just a comment on his character and his morals, but at the same time I'd hate to see someone holding a grudge against another player over this game. Cause in the end that's what it is. Though the game becomes more than a game when there is a 2,600$ prize on the line.

Basically, I'm not taking a side, or saying someone is mean or someone is right or wrong, since that's all a matter of opinion. I'm just dropping **** from my *** onto this page about the signals firing off inside my brain in regard to this topic.

shout outs later?
