Well I see Falco returning for Brawl. He is popular amongst fans and is awesome. I think he will be a little less Luigified than Luigi was to Mario but won't ruin him at all.

Well if falco changes a little and fox changes a little.
a little change+a little change= a good diffrence in the characters. this applies to falco

Dyce: But you forget that Wolf apparently doesn't care about killing Fox anymore. In Assault, they end up helping each other, and in Command...well, lots of stuff happens in Command, some good, some bad.

Also, Falco's already like your Wolf description, Dyce. Falco players don't run away, they get in there, because they have some pretty broken moves powerful attacks, and the extra weight to go along with it.
Well the thing is, Fox players try to be "tacticians" by going in and fighting but being reserved because they know they can die easily. This is also how Fox plays out in his games.

Falco players go in there strong fisted, thinking they're just going to kick their opponent's keister, and be ready for them again when they respawn. But Falco players, much like Falco himself, sometimes get themselves into more trouble than they can handle and are easily disposed of.
Falco>"FOX! GET THESE GUYS OFF ME!"
Fox>"Jesus Chris, Falco. Already you're in trouble? I just started level one!"

And I imagine Wolf to play very similar to Falco, headstrong and overpowering but can get into trouble. But also he'll have some Fox-like tactics that will help him back it up, like a few good combos with strong attacks and a more than decent recovery.

Note: The main enemies in Command are a bunch of fish/octopods. "King Anglar" is the main antagonist.
A very silly boss indeed. Fish people? C'mon. At least they went original with a fat angler fish was the leader. Usually the leaders of fish people are sharks or Davey Jones.

...yeah. Teleporting hands...anti-gravity jumps...much more original than anything Wolf would do.
Oh... my... GOD... PERFECTION!

How could Andross get in Brawl? He has no real reasons other then he is the main enemy for the SF series.
Wow... I'm not even going to touch that one... That's just a dumb remark...
"He's only the major villain in almost every Starfox game. Why does he deserve a spot?"

Well, though Andross is the big boss in the StarFox games, I believe Wolf has the upper edge. I just couldn't see a big head with two hands floating and fighting in brawl. Plus, his attacks would be:
Heat vision
Heat vision
Headbutt
Smack
Heat vision
And yes, I do see the picture of him above and I don't want to see him like that. Wolf is more suitible for Brawl and you know it whether you want Andross or not.

Well I definitely see Wolf making it as a playable character and not Andross. But you have to admit, Mendez's drawing is wicked-awesome and sexellent-to-the-max!

If Sakurai makes the Brawl Adventure mode as expansive as he wants then I think we'll see Andross as Fox's Final Boss. Basically he'll be a dumbed down version of two Master Hands and a floating head. I can see it now: Master Hand glove comes down, then you hear different laugh than what Master Hand normally sounds like. Fox raises a "?" symbol over his head. Then a monkey hand comes down behind him, and removes the glove from the first hand to reveal two monkey hands, then Andross' head floats down and he does his crazy "Up-in-yo-grill" laugh, and then attacks.

I don't see that happening. Wolf for Fox and that chameleon dude for Falco.
That would be perfect. I don't see it happening because who would wolfs rival be if Fox's is Andross. I asume they will be like Fox-Wolf Wolf-Fox style for everyone.

Well, you just never know. Fox's could be Andross since Wolf's only rival is Fox. Fox could fight Wolf on normal circumstances, and then if Fox beats the game on Hard mode or something, he would fight Andross. And then Wolf would fight Fox AND Falco if he beat the game on Hard, or he would fight Fox with fire support from the Starfox Team.

I don't know Creo, I'm just being creative. It's not like these ideas are that farfetched.

Well I like to be technical Dyce and I know you not being too farfetched.
Now if I am taking this right,(which I am not but I am putting it on how I would see it)you would beat Wolf up in adventure like Bowser in Melee. If it is normal or above, Wolf falls, but instead of Meca Wolf, you get Andross like a master hand. Now I wouldn't mind that idea.

That last sentenced means I posted what I think it should be like. I didn't understand yours fully so I put it in my words. The no credit for you was a joke.

It's easier just saying who will be cut rather than saying who will return. I believe everyone from the original SSB are in the safe zone, so to speak. So that leaves the 13 Melee characters in a tight spot.

Cuts

1. Young Link (WW Link might replace him but I really don't want to see him in...)
2. Pichu
3. Doctor Mario
4. Ice Climbers (might be cut in favor of another retro character but they stand a pretty good chance of returning, but I still believe they are candidates for the axe)
5. Mr. Game and Watch (Melee's WTF character, though awesome, might not return because I believe he was put in for simple surprise of it)
6. Shiek (may be switched out for another character or Zelda will remain the same, who knows...)
7. Falco (might be replaced unless Sakurai revamps his moveset)
8. Roy (put in for advertising and to replace Sigurd who was SUPPOSED to be in it)

So, given these characters are cut, that leaves us with 18 veteran characters + the 5 newcomers which comes to 23 characters. Given we get 40 characters (not confirmed, just hypothetically speaking) that means an additional 17 newcomers along with the revamped veterans.

The only thing I disagree with is Falco. He is probably one of the most anticipated to return from melee and he will just get Luigified. He is too popular of character amongst fans and is good to the series.

Good list Uncle Kenny, but those are WAY to many cuts. The roster will probably have anywhere from 42-46 characters realistically speaking. YLink can go either way of being on or off, whether you have WW Link as a replacement or not. If that's in order of most likely to leave to least likely, I disagree. Here's my list of character chances of being cut:

1.Young Link-He is either going to be replaced or changed into WW/cel-shaded Link (however you see it), but he's not going to be the same. If it's a cut&add, or a remake is totally debateable.

Young Link's chances of returning IMO are 4%, but WW Link replacing (or remaking) YLink chances IMO are 90%.

2.Dr. Mario-Was a neat last minute addition that was a good character, but he'so not coming back, unless as a outfit for Mario. He was good while he lasted.

Dr. Mario's chances of returning IMO are 7%, and for Dr. Mario returning as a alternate Mario outfit is 70%.

3.Pichu-Barely anyone likes Pichu, it has a small fanbase, and it's the most hated clone. Needless to say, Pichu is not coming back anytime soon.

Pichu's chances of returning IMO are 10%.

4.Shiek-Definitely one of the more played characters in Melee, but Shiek definitely lacks meaning in the Zelda series as a whole. If Shiek does return, I think she'll be a seperate slot from Zelda, but more than likely she won't return.

Shiek's chances of returning IMO are 28%.

5.Roy-A smash original, even if he was a clone. Lacks the fanbase of Marth, but still has a pretty decent fanbase. Plus there are a lot of people out there (not naming names or pointing fingers at anyone) who just think he's a weaker Marth (*cough* bull!). Plus lack of being in real recent games and the cult following of Marth hurts, and generally he could go either way. He's on the fence IMO.

Roy's chances of returning IMO are 52%.

6.Ice Climbers-A retro character much like Ness, but not really. No, their game (Ice Climber) was probably one of the better games no one played on the NES. Plus they lack the cult classic following Ness had, so that hurts, but generally they are very popular in Melee. That definitely helps being popular in Melee, and could wind up saving them.

Ice Climbers chances of returning IMO are 67%.

7.Mr. Game and Watch-Melee's ever famous "wtf?" character, who definitely has a big roll in Nintendo's history, starting them off and all. I am pretty sure he'll return, but he could go either way. Generally he isn't played that much compared to many other characters, but he is still popular and well appreciated amongst smashers. More than likely he'll return, but there are no guarentees.

Mr. Game and Watch's chances of returning IMO are 72%

8.Falco-Ya, I know I'll go under fire, but I have a point. There is a somewat of a chance that Falco could be replaced by Krystal and Wolf, but generally I think the enormous fanbase, along with appreciation could save Falco. Plus the prominant roll in the Star Fox series never hurts.

Falco's chances of returning IMO are 94%.

In other words: Cuts:
-YLink (replaced/remade with WW Link)
-Pichu
-Dr. Mario (more than likely returning as a alternate Mario outfit)
-Shiek
Could go either way
-Roy

Any thoughts or comments on my list=appreciated.

JohnKnight, I agree with everything you said, just not the order of which you said it.

I think the list should go like this, from least chance to greatest:

Doc Mario (Mario with a stethescope)
Roy (an advertisement)
Young Link (a decent alternate to Link, but Link is better)

-Here's where they start having good chances-

Pichu (I don't have anything good to say about Pichu, but I think he has a good chance)
Shiek (original and a great fighter and very popular, but there is the fact that she was only in OoT)
Ice Climbers (they're dumb and they're glitchy, but they're cute and original)
Mr. Game & Watch (very original, random, and the O'est of all G's)
Falco (he's awesome)

Shiek shouldnt stay, just because shes god in melee doesnt make her important to the LoZ series... anyway I agree totally with Johnknight, though ICs should stay, I had a dream once where they had a totally new look and they where on the same melee FD, still they look so awesome, more realistic...

anyway what im triying to say is ICs for brawl!

@Johnknight: My list was done in no particular order and realistically, we don't know how many characters there will be which is why I presented the number as hypothetical.

I think people's ideas of how likely sheik is to return are fully the response to their sheer hartred of the character much more then the fact they think she is unlikely. She was very popular in melee so i see not reason for her not to return. I doubt as many characters will be kicked out as some pople think...

I don't hate Sheik at all, I honestly could care less if Sheik returns. But several Zelda games hae been released since melee and Sheik's importance in the franchise has dimished significantly, so there's a pretty good chance Sheik will get the boot in favour of another Zelda character.

And Sheik is only really popular amongst the competitive community, I don't think in general smash community is as fussed on Sheik.

Sheik's really either gender you fancy as far as I'm concerned, I honestly don't see why people take such issues with it.

Shiek's a GIRL

Shiek is Zelda. Zelda is a girl. Zelda only changed her appearance on the outside to fool people, especially her enemies. Her inner "mechanics", if you will, are still the same. The only things changed were her skin tone, hair color, eye color, and clothing, body figure; not her body parts. And they never specified what she was in OoT, they kept her an androgynous enigma for plot purposes and that huge plot twist at the end.

Sex changes are tricky. They don't just happen with magic dust. Trust me, I've tried...

...:p

yeah, i agree.

jking. sheik is a girl. a girl putting on boys clothes as a disguise doesnt make you a boy. the same is true if a boy puts on girls clothes. just look at Ms Doubtfire...bad example? i cant see why this is so difficult for people to understand.

Yea.

Hey Creo! (I forget if you even subscribe to this thread but...) This kid is doing what you used to do. We can't have this. Why don't you show him the steps to becoming a regular Smash-debater like the rest of us.

I love to Smash-debate. I Smash-debate maybe 14 times a day.
Bet you can't say that 10 times fast!

So how'd we get from talking about who's gonna make it back to sex changes and magic dust anyway?

Well, did you ever think that maybe Princess Ruto was in on the whole thing? Maybe Princess Zelda told all the sages that she had to go incognito for certain reasons, and they were all cool about it. Or maybe Ruto just thought Shiek was a dude because... c'mon, everyone thought she was a dude at first.

I think Pichu needs to be left off of Brawl and replaced with another pokemon like Meoweth or mabey a heavier pokemon like Dragonite.
