Newb question: Winner picks character, Loser picks character(if they change), stage ban than loser picks stage. Isn't that how it goes after a game?

"Drillshine" is a term used for Fox's L-cancelled dair into shine. It works because Fox's dair consists of multiple hits that keep the opponent grounded and in hitstun.

Falco's dair is a single hit and a spike. When used on an opponent on the ground, they stay on the ground in hitstun at very low %, and get popped up off the ground at other percents (assuming no crouch-cancelling).

dair -> shine with falco is pillaring. LOL. Right?

K GUYS. I GOT A QUESTION.

How do you perform the glitch where you can play in versus mode with just 1 character. (no cpu's, no human opponents)

^ its called name entry glitch. Its the same method you use to play as master hand, except instead of choosing no character, you choose no opponent.

name entry glitch. you choose a one character and go to name select. Press A and B at the same time, scroll to the last name and press A again. hold down B the whole time. If done correctly you will skip to the stage select screen. make sure you don't have too many names though. basically if you hold down B(press A too late) too long you will go back to the menu and if you press A too early nothing will happen. It can take a few tries.

sorry if that explanation was bad you can also just read this: http://super-smash-bros.wikia.com/wiki/Name_Entry_glitch

beat by sveet but my post still helps :)

IIRC pillaring refers to shield pressure. Particularly Falco's aerial + shine on shield.

XIF called Nair Jab with Peach at some point the "Peach pillar". At FC-D or something. This was before WD OoS and other shield escape mechanisms were widespread. He broke CunningKitsune's shield with it there.

If I recall correctly, there's like 7-20 frames where Fox is grabbable or shine OOSable during a nair/shine cycle

i won't pretend to know anything about peach

I thought pillaring was the act of shining someone up then dairing them back down repeatedly.
Quite a lot of people think that but pillaring really means shine -> aerial (usually D-air) on shield, those combos are just called shine -> dair or shine-> spike combos really

Is it better to grab out of a cc with jump canceling or L/R + a? Because with the l/r method you can just mash A but would jump canceling it be faster?

Wow I never even thought of JC grabs out of CC, I always just *****ed about doing a Dtilt.

But any way, frame perfect environment neither is faster. They are the same.

the only advantage is on same frame grabs, lower port number wins the exchange. all other advantages are exclusive to brawl or myths.

There's actually a few other's but only one more that applies to competitive melee, Its very rare though. If you both die during sudden death on the exact same frame, lowest number of port wins.

Also if multiple players try to grab the edge at the same exact time the one with port priority gets it. This can be important when lightshield edgehogging Marth with most of the cast who need to FF it.

Another thing it affects is knockback of some throws that bounce off the floor (maybe others too but on the ones I've seen they were all d-throws). On the affected throws, if the person being thrown has port priority they start the knockback lower to the ground than when they don't have port priority.

It makes G&W start inside the ground against Doc/Mario/Luigi's d-throws and hits the ground immediately without going anywhere when G&W has priority. It also changes when some chaingrabs and combos can start working and when they end. When the thrower has priority they start working sooner but also end sooner. If they would work starting from 0% regardless, it's actually bad to have port priority for those things. The difference of when stuff works is usually shifted by like 1-5 damage from what I've seen.

Some throws I know are affected are Sheik, G&W, Doc, Mario, Luigi(?), and Ganon's (only against some characters) d-throws. As with Ganon's case, if a throw is affected the port priority effect on it might not apply against all characters.

Edwin: also player one starts fractionally faster than the others. I prefer the later ports because it means I start on the platform at the start of a match and can fall through instantly so I can start the match off in the air which is where I want to be as jiggs.

Also there are other things like Aaron liking p4 cos of the shield colour

Rest can't clank. Like Marth's side-b/neutral-b, Roy's neutral-b, and maybe other stuff the hitbox on rest can never hit other hitboxes (even when on the ground) so 2 rests will double whiff since they're both invincible also.

Marth's side-b doesn't clank, why would rest clank?

What other hitboxes do doesn't really matter. Hitboxes have a series of flags that determine various properties. Shine hitboxes are set to be able to interact with other hitboxes. Rest is not. Just like lasers do not interact with other hitboxes, but charged beam does.
