I miscommunicated and I apologised for offending anyone.
This is all you really need to say. Having learned from experience, I'll tell you that trying to defend yourself only makes things worse, especially when people don't know you.

I'm not trying to take sides, I just don't want the situation to get worse. I'd not like to see someone join the scene like this.

Yeah you're probably right. But at the same time, it pains me not to rectify the incorrect image people seem to have of me now.

Just shutting up and waiting until people meet you would/will have unbelievably better results.

Personally and likely for most everyone else, Ithey won't really care, but if you keep going on about it, the evil witches of lukewarts may produce a VENDETTA.

You can't both apologise for AND defend your original statement at the same time.

Real Lux is sooooo cool.

Omg.

+1000000 points to him.

Lux come out here at the end of the year and stay with me and Luke. You will have the best time ever. We even got M2K to have fun somehow lol.

EDIT: Yeah Dre Shaya's right. We have a saying on these forums. Getting "DJ DOwny'd". You may not understand it, but everyone who does will tell you it's not what you want. lolololololol.

I'm working on saving up some cash. Depending on how my summer goes money wise, I might be able to do it. As I mentioned I have about 1150 saved up now, but I need to get double (and maybe more for the time off I'd take to go) to make it happen.

Kinda sad Australia isn't some third world country where $10 can buy me a a week's rice, a hotel with 2 escorts (tips get you extras ;) ), and all the "illegal"(read black market) firearms AND fireworks to throw a real party.

I'm also happy for all your sakes that Australia isn't a third world country where $10 could buy me a piece of the island due to the socio-economic ramifications of foreign exploitation and the state it would mean you guys are in :)

Lux. If your coming down aim for HTC meet. Usually held in January, it's a week long meet that separates the men from the boys, and the strong from the week. It'll be the best and worst time of your life. Details to come later his year.

you say that like you've actually stayed for the entire duration of one...

It's just a saying guys, you're reading too far into it. lol
There's a difference between reading into something too much, and pointing out the hilarity of something in a hilarious way.

So if this tournament is on the 20th I actually could be able to come, and so can my brother.... If it's in Sydney. Uhh, lemme check the first post. >.>

YAY it's in Sydney, and so far it doesn't clash with other events I have lined up, so as long as I keep reminding my parents there is a reasonable chance I can come, which means i'll finally have an excuse to scrape off the SSBB rust that's been creeping along my arms for the past few months! ;-)

So if I can come, I can't wait to see you there. ALSO, I want to verse you invisi to see if I can win against you this time :glare: and ALSO I don't have a hacked wii, so if someone brings a recording setup that would be nice...

People are planning to bring recording setups, and actually use them this time, right? *nudge*

On a related note, what would be involved in getting my own recording setup? I've seen that Shaya plugs the output from the TV straight into his laptop and records from there. Are those cables easy to come by? (in fact, I think we might even have one at home if I look around) Is there any software needed, and is it free? How CPU intensive is recording, and how much hard drive space would it take to record a day's matches? Are there better ways to record, or is recording AV out on a laptop the best way to go?

If a recording setup is easy to get, I might even see if I can get one before the tourney. Plus, I can use the hispeed net at uni to upload. If there's any other useful info about recording setups I should know but haven't questioned about, please do tell =)

Why would they do that, and I didn't think you lived with your parents, and if you don't then why does it matter when you actually get home, and if this has anything to do with the gambling aspect just letting you know that so far only 2 people I know that are going out of a possible 5 are actually gambling.

Also can I get people to to let me know if they are coming on saturday 19th, just so I can let the village know since I will need to register it as a party since I am having more than 4 guests over night. You guys might have to sign in too when you get here for safety/liability reasons and the like.

EDIT: omg novawar and Maximusblack playing portal 2 coop is hilarious.

What time will there be smash? I'd be interested in coming, but don't hold your breath for me; chances are I won't be able to make it due to assignments. If I get them all done I'll try to come.

So, was anyone going to give me info on recording setups? I reckon I would be able to get one going by next week if someone could tell me where to get the software, and help out with the basics.

The actual product? I don't think there is one, is there? I thought you just had a cable from the TV to the computer, and some sort of software to read and record it.

You need a capture card/device in all of the cases I'm aware of. Seems to split the signal so that it goes into the TV and the computer. And since the computer isn't a TV in the first place you need the software to read the signal (which comes in the package, usually).

I think entry level equipment would run you at least $80. High Def stuff and you could easily spend a few hundred.

IIRC Dazzle was what Vlade used - I think it was cheap-ish. ATM the OzHadou/Freeaboo scene in Perth records on a Hauppage HDPVR, and whilst it gets good quality it is a ***** ******-****** **** of a ******* and never wants to work without putting up a bloody good fight.

^All the information I know. Anything else will have to be covered by others/google.

if you just want basic recording capability then go down to your local kmart/bigw/whatever and pick up a "dvd maker".
package+contents should look something like this http://www.kworld-global.com/main/prod_in.aspx?mnuid=1248&modid=6&prodid=104&flag=1
then use virtualdub for software
I think shaya had one of these at one point so he should be able to give more concrete info on where to acquire it, personally my babby's first recording device was something else but this is the only one I know of you can get in local stores/not on the interwebs.

if you actually give a **** about good quality there are other options but they're pricey and require ebay or similar.

Well I have been away for like 3 months and then there is the whole living vicariously thing they are prone to doing. As for gambling aspect, I basically lived off
of the money I won each week at poker so I'm ot fussed about that.
Truth is I do wanna come with you guys I just dont think I should. I like chilling with smashers outside of smash, there's no pretentiousness and no one thinks I'm trying to steal their girlfriend and stuff me into a clothes dryer. Ahh damn these dreamy eyes and classical good looks.

Oh yeah, i'd love to have some matches recorded, but I need to practice some more before I come back and do stuff. In any case, hope to see you guys there soon assuming my assignments will let me. (>.<)

Dre, I don't remember exactly what you originally said, but I recall reading it ages ago and I don't recall having any qualms with it. To be honest, if something like that was directed at me, i'd probably just laugh and have a fun time with it, so to me is no biggie. Besides, I know how getting in to a community is tough. You know, when I first came on, one of my very first posts made everyone think I was a troll. I admit I was taken aback. But look, you'll get a feel for these things, and I'm sure that once you've met everyone, you can say the same things and we'll just laugh our faces off at/with you. Or ringing your neck, i'm not sure. J/ks, the community is really nice here and I honestly believe that stuff a couple pages back was just an honest misunderstanding. I think Fox is openly deceptive said something that really reflects it really well. He might remember, but he said something like "Chaos and confusion spreads as people begin to realize they cannot communicate emotion through a blind interface such as the internet." I dunno, it was MUCH MUCH better worded than that, but that's the basic gist of it.

ANYWAY I'm probably saying too much but I'm one of those guys that hates (HATES HATES HATES HATES HATES HATES HATES HATES HATES etc) argument and conflict between people, even when I know it's good to discuss things. Guess that's my flaw >.>

In other news....

:013: :015: :001: :018: :020: :015: :021: :018: :014: :025: :020: :001: :012: :011: !!!!!!!

Well, I figured I'd be able to download some software, find a spare cable at home, and be on my merry way recording. Seems that's not the case =( Guess I won't be recording after all this tournament. Which means that I'll just bug those of you who have recording setups to actually use them =D

use xsplit software.
xsplit's no longer in beta and the free version puts ads and **** on your video when you use it now. in any case virtualdub is better for straight recording, if a little finnicky, unless you really want those overlays for some reason.

how much does xplit cost, and if you had the beta does it still put ads on it? or do you have to pay even if you had the beta
