I was just taking a cheap shot at xbox Phil, calm down.
I have a deep hatred towards those (mainly) xbox owners who claim graphics make a good game. You know the type I'm talking about.

:phone:
I can say I probably know -many- more gamers than yourself, and I'd easily say this is the pecking order for graphics *****s

Pc > Ps > xbox > nintendo

Whilst you may have experienced past trauma with some Xbox people, but I can say that it's pretty un-justified and incorrect :/

I really hate incorrect things, even if I morally disagree (yes most Xbox people are idiots, but not graphics *****s)

ff13 on ps3 has hd cutscenes... 360 doesn't... lol
just chippin in
FF13 was built initially for the PS3 then they decided to also make it for the 360, also not to mention the PS3 uses blu-ray discs.

This will probably go on and on, but @Luke: I wasn't trying to read Nintendo's mind. Its just based on what they've shown, Nintendo seem to believe that HD graphics and a few 3rd party developers is automatically what hardcore gamers are looking for. At the moment there's not really anything that appeals to hardcore gamers.

(for people that like to dig out everything that people say, that was Richard's interpretation of how Nintendo's actions and words came across)

imo, improved graphics do appeal to the gamer demographic, just not as directly as you're trying to have us believe.

Most core games have good graphics, most developers like to have good graphics. So when you have an inferior console like the wii, who can't spit out the same **** as ps3 and xbox, it gets shafted and doesnt get the same games. Making the wiiU more powerful will stop it from being neglected as much (potentially) so that developers will make better games for it, which in turn, will appeal to gamers.

I personally think graphics are important these days. I never used to, btu I like to enjoy the atmosphere and what I'm looking at. Helps the game become an immersive experience.

I thought the new smash bro's was basically on the Wii U only with the 3ds being able to connect in some way. But now I read it's going to release on both consoles.

My opinion on this is that it is an ok idea. It's cool since if you have a Wii U and one of your friends only has a 3DS they will probably make it so you can vs each other with the 3DS acting as a controller.

About graphics I do too believe they are important these days. Wii not supporting HD graphics at a time it was easy capable to do so definitely would of made it look bad compared to the ps3 and xbox.

^ I believe he knows what he is doing so all is good.

if its made by HAL laboratories alone like the first 2 then we might just have another melee on our hands

(Brawl had numerous developers all working on the game)

so what if ps3 is bluray and 360 is dvd
they split ff13 onto multiple discs for 360, no reason to ditch hd

does it really make a difference?
like did you play the ps3 version, and then play the 360 one and have it noticably affect the game?

I'll bet most people here probably wouldnt be able to tell the difference if they were playing the ps3 version and somebody swapped it to the 360 one without telling them.

I wonder if everyone will start using those classic controller pro's. Pretty similar to gamecube controllers and they plug into the Wiimote. Though you guys have probably heard of them by now since they were made in 2009 so I'm a bit late to the party.

Or better yet, just turn the classic controllers into gamecube controllers and no need to worry about gc controller ports. :D

Oh and playing Smash Bros on your Wii U using the 3DS might be cool too. I guess.

If there's only one of those pad controllers, it seems pretty likely nintendo will have another controller for the console that isn't part of the wiimote somehow. I think the the main focus at this point is to be like 'look this new way of playing games!' and don't want people shrugging the idea off if they know there is an alternative. Making another traditional controller would probably rake in some more money for them as well.

The PS3 version is 720, the Xbox360 is 576, but the Xbox360 generally upscales better than the PS3. Either way, as Luke said, you basically can't tell them apart. (besides the FMVs)

Apparently their framerate analysis is wrong, Sam has played both versions so he knows which one runs at a more stable framerate.

The reason they do that is because casuals are the biggest market currently.

Appeasing to the hardcore gamer is simply not anywhere near as profitable these days, as we are the minority.

Recycles, DLC on casual games and new titles yearly are the thing these days. The gaming industry has become lots less about customer satisfaction per game, its largley about saturating the market to cover the largest audience possible with the smallest cost possible.

Also Redact I had no idea Wii was number 1 in sales. I always assumed it was dead last.

And yeah, I realise there's more money in casuals, but it still hurts being sold out like that. Nintendo pretty much leeched off us gamers until it was strong enough to abandon us in the pursuit of more profitable targets. We made Nintendo what it is today and this is the thanks we get...?

Ugh Zxv, that attitude annoys me.

Nintendo got to the position they're in today by consistently making quality games over several decades. Sold out what? Nintendo are doing what they've always done, except now they're doing it for more people.

Not to mention that amongst the crapload of games that you and I will never play, Nintendo are still actually making REALLY GOOD GAMES. Mario Galaxy (noted by yahtzee, mr. negativity himself, to be a return to form and compared favourably it to mario 64), Twilight Princess/Phantom Hourglass/Spirit Tracks (all super-solid games and came out during/after the casual boom), BRAWL (sorry, say what you like about it competitively, but that aside it is a damn good game). Of course there are a few letdowns like mario kart wii, but in general you have no right to complain when nintendo have actually been real picky about keeping their main franchises from getting too gimmicky and keeping them quality.

Nintendo doesn't owe you ****. If anything you owe Nintendo **** for granting you a fantastic childhood.

The last Wii game I wanted to buy was brawl.. When I had a cube I could never decide and still want to buy several titles. The Cube and 64 had a consistent release of quality titles from all publishers, wer as the Wii had a handful of good games that only Nintendo made, and most came out within 2 years of release. I've gone through Wii sections at game stores for years and have probably picked up 10 games max.. not even coming close to purchasing them.

THIS is what really disappointed me about the Wii. The Cube and 64 was always bagged because of its lack of support, then the wii came along and everyone jumped on board. It was the console we'd all been waiting for.. and yet it somehow managed to flop when it came to the core gamer.

If Nintendo continued on the path of only relating to the core gamer, they be almost as dead as sega right now, the times they are a changin.

Took the words right out of my mouth.

I go and look at all these games for the wii and I"m like, "Do they think all gamers nowadays are 5 year olds?" It's really sad.

yeah whut, nintendo havnt leeched off you or sold out or anything.
do you want gaming to turn into you coming over to play guitar hero 72 on my playstation 28?

you cant just do the same thing over and over, or it gets stale, so at least they are trying new things, nintendo have always tried new things, they are all about lnnovation, and laugh at innovation and creativity all you like, but its the hardest thing in the world to do.

also fyi the wii is the 3rd best selling console in the world, behind ps1 at spot #2 and ps2 and spot number #1.

also fun fact, the playstation was orginally a nintendo design, and they approched sony with a partnership offer, but they ****ed up on the contract which left a loophole that let sony take it all
lol gread job nintendo.

Point being they have their influence on everything, nintendo have done so so much for gaming for over 25 years now, they deserve alot of respect no matter what you think of the wii or the wiiu, and you shouldnt think anything of all untill you play that one.

Syke does make a good point about games though, there isnt a whole left once you sift through all the bad stuff.

I thought it was because they decided to do it with.. someone.. fak.. starts with a T.. and sony got pissed and just made it themselves.

OORRR they had a disagreement with cartridge vs CD which also contributed to it.

they split it to 4 discs?.. or 3. For a complete conversion they'd need about 10...
ps3 version is about 35-40gb (different versions vary between those)

With installs, 360 could probably get a 1080p version going with 4 discs
