Interesting idea i read about somewhere, might be something to think about as the bonus for next tourney. Its called Scrambled Eggs Teams or something i ono, but the idea is that each round the teams are reshuffled, so you team with a new person each set. Sounds like it could be fun, thoughts? =D
Funny you say that cause, thats How 2v2 work for LAN games Etc, it basically give everybody different experiences and different ways to learn. It is an Idea proposed by someone in Bendigo too, cause i've been looking around at to find a place for a Bendigo tourney and I think I found one. I know there are More smashers in Bendigo, I just gotta draw them out of hiding.

Do we have the standard 70 ledge grab rule with stigma? i dont seem to see it in the rule section. and as an Olimar main Planking can be a big issue as there isnt much i can do about it without putting myself in a huge disadvantage position.

XD

http://www.manifest.org.au/blog/ smash tourney at manifest satday evening.

the brackets full apparently i'm told.

therefore theres 32 smashers playing in a tournament that probably don't know of stigma.

.. someone attending could make 40 flyers or so for stigma b. im sure you'd get some people attending stigma the day after.

I can mock up a flyer and email it to whoevers going, if they'd be happy to print them off.

Officially I don't think we have a position, mainly because I've never once seen somebody play like a **** like that at a Stigma before. Essentially, if somebody does decide to plank, laugh derisively at him. Then everybody else will be all like, "Yo, this dude is playing like a ****." And the other guy will be all like "Yeah, totally playing like a ****." Then the guy playing like a **** will be all like :(

70 ledge grabs is a redundant rule anyway, you could easily plank and still not surpass that amount

An arbitrary number like that wont solve anything. No player smart enough to win with planking is going to run out the timer with mindless ledge stalling. 50 for 8 min is one grab evey 9.6 seconds, if your smart with yuor planking, you wont have to worry about the timer at all.

At this point we havent had any major problems with planking, and until we do, theres no reason to institute a ledgegrab limit.

isnt that called stalling? im talking about planking, where a char will stay on a ledge and persist to fight most of the game from there. and yes it could easily become a problem because ive had this done to me in friendlies, most lower tier chars can't do much at all against it, and its not considered stalling because they are technically still fighting, i dont see a problem with adding the ledge grab rule considering most proper tournys have this rule. I was actually surprised we didnt have it.

and yeah i agree with afro that 50 sounds like a good number XD

Um..where did you get 50 from? It sounds like no reason has been chosen except that its a nice even number. What basis do you have for that as the limit?

tbh Condog, i dont care what it is. aslong as there is one.
Genesis was 50 Ledge grab limit, and like shaya said Evo 2009 had 25 ledge grab rule.

Wait, I thought it was called ledge camping...

I don't think anyone in Melbourne planks, stalls, ledge camps or whatever, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Plus, wasn't there a discussion like this a few months ago?

I played as A Pit planking Vs an Olimar CPU whilst racking up damage and then killing him.
The match went for 4.07 minutes and my pit grabbed the ledge exactly 50 times. So if the Olimar player was any good he wouldnt have gotten killed like that and that Pit would have to stop planking at that point, and it shows 50 means you cant plank for the whole match (you could plank more than i did, i suck with Pit, but still).

In a Normal match with my GaW vs an Olimar CPU i grabbed the ledge 21 times, and i believe 25 is too small a number, seeing as i was Vsing a CPU and so normally id need to grab the ledge more coz they would get me offstage more (pretty much all the ledge grabs were me trying to gimp the Olimar but then it jumped back on stage coz it saved its jump unlike Gary)

So 25 is too small and 50 doesnt seem to bad. So There are some bad research statistics Vsing CPU's, for everyone to look at.

I think that this rule should be skipped until next tourney. Besides as people have stated, no one really pulls off that crap here anyways so i say save it for future tourneys

considering stigma is this weekend ill agree with you. for future tournys id say we should really use this rule. just because no one has abused the rule in a tourny match yet, doesnt mean that they wont.

I see no reason in not having this rule as a precaution.
If you have a reason in why it shouldnt be applied speak up, because the only reason ive heard so far is that it hasnt been abused YET... XD

If we havent had any trouble, there is no reason to implement an arbitrary ledgegrab limit O_o

Why wait for something bad to happen and someone to have an unenjoyable time when we can just prevent it from happening in the first place?

I mean i dont even care if this is implemented, and with such short notice at least not til next Stigma, but that reasoning irritates me. Its not like we sacrifice anything by just implementing the rule.

I agree with Splice and Gary. To be honest I think some of our rules are too lenient. Like the ICs cg>300% rule. Nobody cgs to 300%, but its a precaution. Same as the edge grab idea. Better have a riule now than some "arbitrary" player abuse it and say "there's no rule against it". We had a rule early this year, no greater than 5 throws in a chain. I personaly would like to see a similar rule in effect. Like maybe 8-10 throws. With Melbourne players perfecting the grabs, abuse of infinites is becoming more of a real threat. Stages with a (D) banned D3, why are ICs any different? Especially since they can finish a chain with a smash, which is ridiculously broken on a walkoff stage.

ICs can do their infinites on all stages, clearly that is more broken than Dedede being able to do an infinite on some stages (not to mention he has to be in a position where he can go towards that wall)

Also Vermy ICs can charge an Usmash which will kill at 200%, walk off stages make little difference.

I agree we should have a rule that is if you exceed 50 edge grabs, and the timer runs out you are disqualified. If you are planking you are playing to the timer. And this solves the problem fairly well without taking away from normal play (when does the the timer run out normally?)

I thought it could kill way earlier then that, like in the 100s at least. (I guess it depends whether the usmash is stale or fresh.)

but yeah i personally hate IC's, because once your grabbed its pretty much like baii baii stock lol
