I didn't say it was hard but people still don't use it. of all the diddy matches I have watched I don't think I have seen ANYONE use it.

I suggest implementing it instead of like just knowing how to use it or about it.

Lol 55:45 to Marth. Diddy has bananas but Marth has his sword. He can also banana -> Dancing Blade. Just don't be above Diddy Kong because you won't be able to do much while he can do a lot.

I mean. How can Marth lose this if he is still able to attack even when Diddy has a banana? Just don't do tippers on his shield so you get max frame advantage. Do perfectly non tipper aerials and d-tilts. That's the area of Marth's sword just before the tip. Probably 55/45 Marth or around there somewhere.

Honestly, the best way I've found to deal with Diddy is to get in his face and screw with his setups. Every time I sit back and try to find an opening, I get wrecked.

Idc about match-up ratios but assuming both players know the match-up Diddy wins 6/10 games imo

Also to explain things to Emblem Lord,

here's the crux of things:

Hit diddy's shield (land):
Options:
1. Shield
2. Grab
3. Dolphin slash
4. Something bad like jumping so you get your *** ***** (or spot dodging).

Diddy still has a frame advantage on us, no matter how small. We have to guess right.

Literally, our more likely options just come to "shield stuff" or dolphin slash. Dolphin Slash beating out anything from diddy at that point other than shield/dodges. Us shielding kinda just resets the situation, the problem is to set up that pressure again we have to get back in the air/reposition ourselves... and guess what? Diddy has bananas covering those zones ONCE we land after pressuring his shield.

now diddy can do things that are extremely safe in this situation, his reward is similar/better (hurr glide toss dsmash hurrr).... we're risky ourselves even more damage than we would apply to diddy for winning the situation...

Now Marth's dtilt is -9 on shield, so at "perfect" spacing, we're just safe. HARD for that to happen, really.

Nice post, Shaya. I like how this board actually discusses matchups with facts and frame data. Marth's Dtilt being -9 on block is saddening. I really wish that ground moves could legitimately frame trap in this game.

Considering that dropping your shield is 7 frames, is a pretty legit frame trap on most of the cast.

You're still -2. You're safe and people will be scared to push buttons, but you're still not technically frame trapping them.

Spot dodges are like around 25 frames. And rolls are what....30 something?

If Marth could legitimately frame trap I might actually advocate banning him.

And yeah I already knew he lost in risk vs reward. Everyone loses that to Diddy when he has nanas. It ain't nothing new. In terms of options both are very low risk overall but Diddy gets more reward. Marth still has other stuff besides d-tilt though.

Just sayin.

I don't think Marth's options have "very low risk", at least not in this match-up. I'd sure love to know which options you mean.

Also, you can frame trap aerial opponents if you're on the ground with a couple of characters.

Options are what Shaya posted before: attack diddy's shield then either grab,spotdodge, shield or ds.

If we guess right you take banana plus grab/smash which = ~20%
if we don't we cop a ds which does like 15? Or something, but this send us off the stage and I think diddy offstage against marth is worse than if the diddy was edgeguarding.
