Well those are the best kind of jokes.

I don't really care too much about following the tier list changes. All that concerns me is actually knowing how to play against each character properly. Although I almost don't want Ike to be moved to mid-tier because he would no longer be able to destroy LT tourneys and I'd have to use Ganon in them instead.

I still have Jiggs for low tier rofl, but i know what you mean Sharkie xD Ike really had no contest in low tiers unless Ness was included.

What i think should happen is, Ike, PT, Ness, and Sonic all be lumped together as E tier and that be designated as top of Low tier. Then Low tier would be between those 4. I'd throw in Sheik personally too since she wouldn't be too good in low tiers.. and she's not as popular as the aforementioned 4.

Ah, looks like I missed a bunch of pointless drama. What a travesty.

Regardless, it appears that past 8PM here (which is 8AM California time) the speed increases from 1 KB / S to a whopping 4 KB / S. Looks like I might actually be chatting with you guys a lot sooner than I expected. Sorry if this angers anyone. But to keep it in spirit with the whole vacation thing, every time I post I will add a diary entry at the end of the post, such as:

7/20/2010
- Met friend from childhood. Apparently friend knows several hot chicks. Approached hot chicks. Got flustered. Retreated to safe zone. Better luck next time.

Only if you use more brawl related terms for your diary enteries:

- Met friend from childhood. Apparently friend knows several hot chicks. Approached hot chicks. Did not know the hot chick MU. Ran away and DQ'd for stalling. No johns.

What's the point in being flustered? I'm not about to go on about how *****es love confidence (however, they do) but frankly the WORST that can happen is the girl isnt interested and you move on (and you SHOULD move on). Lingering or saying nothing accomplishes the exact same **** and doesnt give the opportunity of something else happening. Sack up.

Ike has several options out of shield that are relatively safe, such as Jabs, a Bair if your opponent is behind you and obviously a grab if you don't get pushed back too far. Sometimes though it's just safest to retreat by jumping or rolling away if an opponent is pressuring your shield too much.

If you get pushed far back in your shield by an attack and your opponent will be unable to move for awhile (for example if you regular shield another Ike's Fsmash) you can use an Instant Dash Attack out of shield to punish. If you normally Jab or Bair out of shield and you think your opponent will predict and spot dodge, you can second-guess them and use an Nair OoS to punish the spot-dodge.

I wouldn't say it's ever the best idea... except maybe if you shield the first part of Marth's Dancing Blade (roll behind him and then Jab) and maybe some other sparse situations. You have to always be conscious of your rolls, try not to roll on reaction because if you're playing a good player, it's likely that they baited that reaction. Instead, make a habit of dashing and shield-canceling or short-hopping to maneuver around.

Happy birthday Brett. Hope you enjoyed it.

About smart bombs, if you DI solely for just getting the heck out, you'll just pop out like immediately lol.

Oh, you're definitely right, there's no doubt about that. I guess it's just that confidence has never been my strongest suit and if the conversation presses on enough I'll probably stutter soon enough. On the other hand, moping about my lack of confidence probably isn't going to do me any good, so I'll try to take your advice to heart. Thanks.

To finish up:

7/21/2010
Spent the entire day at my grandmother's house (on my father's side) with her and my aunt (and cousin). I then proceeded to hear every other member of my family get insulted ad infinitum. I don't even want to know what they said about me as soon as I left (but I sort of do, you know?).

Only thing about the vid that was cool was the shield-->spike, but it's falco, why would he be shielding against use on the edge? All those others, even if we get hit, we can easily get back, even easier with a double jump. I wouldn't risk something like that if I were them unless I wanted to look cool or was desperate.

or was desperate.
Even if they're desperate there are obviously much easier and safer ways to gimp Aether... for most characters anyways. I personally don't think we'll see this technique used in an actual match like... ever.

I agree. My opinion on aether has definitely improved a lot in terms of how good it is, due to the substantial impact due to its limited movement.

The more you think about it, Aether isn't a bad recovery move, it's just not an especially good one either. Sort of mediocre, with it's ups and downs. It just has to be used properly.

Also, the thread title made me lol. Good stuff.

Aether isn't bad or good (by itself). It simply has a lot of bad qualities and a lot of good qualities, so it's up to the user to decide if it's what they're looking for in a recovery move.

One thing's for sure, though, it's super unique.

I'm just posting this to annoy New York Shark, because of his comments in the Bi-Weekly about how that thread is social while Ashunera's is currently serious.

On a serious note. For any of us going to MLG Dallas.

Oh man, listening to that what like a trip back through time. I had totally forgotten about that song!

On a side note guys, with MLG Dallas being the final MLG event, this changes things.

You can't just show up and enter the Championship bracket. You need to have either attended an MLG event before OR competed in an online qualifier in order to get seeded.

I'm in the process right now of finding out when online qualifiers are.

You can, however, enter the open bracket, but if you haven't been to an MLG event or an online qualifier, you will be given no seeding.
By online qualifier, I'm guessing Gamebattles.com

They're going to use WiFi as a qualifier for the last MLG tourney? Dang, WiFi getting some serious credit. Of course it could just be that it's the only practical way to do a national qualifier...
