Well, I went to my first tournament this weekend. GROAT (Greatest Regional of All Tme) in Massachusetts. I was really, really pleased with how I placed for my first tournament, especially at a regional with the competition stacked like it was. I think I got top bracket. 13/33. Also managed to take a match off of Prawn, an ICs main.

So weird adjusting from WiFi to offline. The timing is so insanely different. Now that I'm used to it a little more now though, I'm confident I can place even better at Mass Madness this weekend.
you can take a few more risks and make them count offline. But yea it feels good dont it? Your not literally swimming in a pool of water

He backed out and said he quit smash. I was kinda sad.
._. not as sad as me ...

lol **** that delfino is gay. and ganon totally beats bowser
Delfino is the only stage Ganon has an advantage against Bowser, and that's just because of the water and easy edgeguards. xP

I personally hate Bowser. One of Ganon's better MUs, but still annoying as hell unless you're extremely patient.

I don't like Delfino against Bowser. The layout of any of the temporary stages that don't have water in them makes like rough for Ganon while Bowser's superior mobility bones him. I'd rather take Bowser to FD, where there aren't any short platforms that Bowser can abuse.

The matchup itself is awesome though. So much fun to play against.

So... I beat M2K with Ganon this Sat. Does this make me the best Ganon ever?
(He was indeed using MK btw)

Consistent tourney placings determine that, so I'd say no.

Regardless, I still want to see the tourney bracket or a video of the money match.

Lol M2K sucks. He just got beaten by a Ganon!

Yeah but lol, that's funny. Goes to show he really doesn't know very many matchups.

Actually, it was a friendly, so yeah, I know, not quite as impressive, but still!
Yeah it's... it's not really impressive at all, honestly.

As a casual match, and given that M2K is not up on low tier matchups, M2K would have been asking himself one question:

"How little do I have to do in this matchup?"

What's the minimum of effort he had to apply.

He'd start with sandbaggery and crank it up until he starts winning. He'd be using this to feel out Ganon as an opponent. I guarantee it.

Guys, while it may be true M2K was baggin' it a little, it's still a feat, regardless. Instead of undermining his accomplishment, mix in some praise, too. He's obviously deserving of it. >_>;

Really? I could see why because of Water spikes and edgeguarding but I thought Bowser had the Advantage. On some stage changes Bowser can chain grab you off the side or use SideB to kill you off the top really easy with the top platform on the moving stage.

I dunno, vs Bowser, it depends on my mood.

If I'm doing everything right and reading my opponent like a book then it's a really easy matchup. And of course, he's easy as **** to read offstage and gets his s*** wrecked there.

But he can destroy you pretty easily as well if you do dumb things and get predictable. In my opinion, the matchup for Ganon is about either carefully getting in D-tilt range to punish something, and mixing in F-air approaches to counter read Firebreath attempts (if you have balls, SDI that Firebreath and U-air him).

And yeah basically do stuff until he's offstage, and then wreck him.

d'awww...not the reaction I was hoping for... fine, then I'll admit that while I did beat him with Ganon, it was during a 3 way item ffa we did after like 8 billion normal matches.

I knew there was treachery afoot!

Still doesn't beat the awesomeness of Warlock Punching M2K (During a doubles friendly, but M2K was trying to attack me... with MK's Down-B lol). Seriously, losing is okay, but you don't get johns for getting hit by a Warlock Punch.

Speaking of items, Super Ganon Time is always and will forever be epic.

Likewise, players don't choose to main Ganon - Ganon chooses the player.

It sort of lies in your genetic code.

O my..
Its pretty hard playing against projectile users, even chars like Link. They can just spam all they want, and LInk can just zair when youre getting close..
The only thing I could do was keep getting in with Gerudo whenever I had the chance. Sometimes I was lucky and got in Thunderstorm to upair/up smash > upair..
Luckily, pirate ship was allowed. Pirate Ship <3

You need a better Catch Phrase.
How about: Seadorf has entered the bay?

Yes and no.

Yes, you do have only the power shield and patience to get you past projectile spam. You must accept this as a Ganon player. You must patiently and with total focus block all the projectiles and advance on your opponent while being ready for him to do something else.
You must accept that it's not even praiseworthy that you can powershield laser strings from Falco, block Link and Samus projectile mixups salads on reaction, or block anything else I'm not remembering. You just have to do it.

But, no, opponents can't spam all they want. For either they are retreating and spamming, holding and spamming, or crossing you up.

Note that you do have to punish them for standing still, because your options against their crossup are incomplete.

As you approach, eventually their first two options will run out (since you're power shielding all their spam). At the edge... or whenever they decide to turn directions, they can either roll, go to the air, bluff their way right through you, or attack in melee.
Going to the air is generally good for you, especially if you can Choke them or Jab on prediction, but there's chars like Peach that redefine this. Rolling and bluffing are answered with Ganon's late options, mostly you'd be wanting Stomp. Don't do more than one in this guessing game; it either works or it doesn't.

And if they attack you, then they stopped spamming. Or they used a projectile in terrible spacing, which even Ganon can punish (with another power shield, or the Demonic Step tech). Mission accomplished.

You know about Demonic Step? On punishment it's basically dodge, crouch, slide forward (because Ganon does that after dodge), dtilt. Buffered dtilt doesn't slide.

The only thing I could do was keep getting in with Gerudo whenever I had the chance. Sometimes I was lucky and got in Thunderstorm to upair/up smash > upair..
Despite me mentioning Gerudo as a major option, this shouldn't be working to "get in". Choke is outprioritized by literally everything, and is dodgeable on reaction. You're more likely to land Wizkick on jittery dodges and bad approaches than land Choke.. ever.

Choke is just what is there for you if the opponent gives you all the frames and tells you where he's going to be 16-20 frames from now, which he does if he rolls up close and you waited, or if he mindrapes himself into a narrow mixup set that isn't present (i.e., he forgets that shielding and waiting generally > Ganon).
