Gamelot Monthly (Soul Calibur IV, Brawl, Melee) Sept 20th 08 (Results in first post)

I really want to come to this and bring Dojo,Cake, and a new member.

But so many events, all in one day, I have a feeling the tourney is going to take a while. Plus if all goes well this will probably start about 2 hours late.


I'm not too excited about working late friday night, leave town early saturday. Spend all day at gamelot then head home late sat night with all the deer on the road.

forkgirl: I know that you guys have been playing Melee only for a while (smiles, cave, you, etc), but you should really give Brawl doubles a chance. I understand not being in Brawl singles because it is slow & campy compared to Melee, but Brawl doubles is amazing because the pace is perfect and the unique characteristics of the new characters makes it ridiculously fun and far more competitive. I am going to write up a huge guide on the advantages of 2 v 2 over 1 v 1 in Brawl and post it soon, and I am hosting a doubles only tournament next month. You guys should come!

we should play sometime if you want i've been wanting to play cave i've heard he's good, mango told me i should try and play him where in san antonio doyou live i live pretty close to northwest vista collegeand six flags

Melee only for a while? umm 3 years+ isn't a while. And Caveman and Smiles have been going on longer than me and Taylor. Just pointing that out

I think by "melee only" he meant they played melee + brawl for some length of time (probably not much) and since then have been playing melee only for... a while. Now he wants to bring them back into brawl through doubles.

I do remember at FinalSmash3 (the one in April) we played a couple toon link dittos a couple hours before the tourny started. They were actually kinda close, but you won every time. And you pretty much ***** that tv and everyone there for awhile.

Actually talked, I dont think so. I've met Dojo once. Don't really rememeber too much of it, but hes pretty chill.

Lol It's just Nike. Has nothing to do with the sports brand though (inside joke). Been going to every Gamelot tourny since January 07 (couldnt travel anywhere past that) but I got a car recently and will most likely be at Lee's 2v2 tourny and HOBO11.

But yeah I'll talk to the roommates about maybe having a small smashfest tomorrow (please bring tvs and gamecubes!!) Maybe we could all pitch in and get a pizza or something...but we just moved in YESTERDAY so i need to make sure it isnt too soon for the roommates or anything I'll keep everyone informed

Well, it doesn't take long to learn! In fact, there are little things for each character just like there was in Melee, but the most important thing is just learning which moves are the best to use in which situations because you can't L cancel anymore (many moves autocancel though if done a certain way). If you guys want to learn, let me know and I can help. Doubles is amazin

If so, **** that tournament then. PZ is trash, I hope the hosts find a better venue soon.

Pozer, if it's just that you're not able to afford traveling (but you can afford the $15 Entry + Brawl fee), I'm sure Hylian would be happy to let you tag along for free. If he's not, I'm sure I can find space in my car. The TV I'm bringing can probably fit in the trunk.

Also, what's wrong with Planet Zero? The only thing I saw that seemed wrong with it was that it hosted a Brawl tournament. Eww Brawl.

I'm contemplating whether I want to play some Melee as well. I'm terrible though since Brawl came out, so I might need to practice a bit...

That is, if I want to even pay $10 to get my arse handed to me in a game I don't even play anymore.

Please post if you plan on coming. I live near the quarry. I'll give more detailed directions later.
