yea if you'd like to 1$ will just intensify things Lol

i wanna play austin itwas really close between me and him he beat me one and i beat him once, that guy has a good marth
Well good news, I know he will be coming. I talked to him on AIM yesterday.

Also, update to the SC rules:

There will be both Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles available. If both players wish to play their match on Xbox 360, that is fine. However, PS3 is the nationals standard, therefore it will have priority when two players argue over what machine to play on. (Besides, it's no secret the 360 controller just plain isn't that good for fighting games)

Banned Characters:
Guest Characters, Custom characters (Color/costume edits are still allowed), and Yoda/Darth Vader are banned from use in the tournament.

Rounds: 2/3
Best 2/3 matches

First match can opt for a blind pick, first stage is random.
Stage is random unless players choose to agree upon a stage
Winner stays character, Loser may change character.

Any infinites, such as Ivy's rising B, Astaroth's sidestep B, are banned. If these tactics are used, i.e., two Ivy rising B's are used consecutively are used in a combo, the rule breaker will immediately lose that round.

LOL well I was referring to Austin RC the marth player. I know Kal is coming, which means there will likely be JF, Rayz, and Hylian as well.

As for registration, no, you can register up until the start time for your tournament. So if you're there say 3:30 pm, you can still enter Melee.

Something is telling me that I'm gonna get my *** handed to me during the Brawl tournament.

Oh well, it'll still be a fun experience, and I want to have as much Brawl friendlies as possible.

Kyle, most tournaments have 3/5 rounds, 2/3 matches, then 3/5 round, 3/5 matches at the finals. Would you consider changing it?

/Fixed

I have the final rule set for SC IV. Any more updates must be agreed upon by a majority.

First match can opt for a blind pick, first stage is random unless both players agree to one.
Winner stays character.
Loser can change character and pick a stage if he/she desires.

Algol's gun juggle infinite is added to the list of infinites . Of course the rule says all infinites, but some people like to push the boundary.

and once again:

WE NEED CONSOLES AND COPIES OF THE GAMES. IF YOU CAN BRING AN EXTRA TV, THAT TOO IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.

No sir... Grand finals are 4/7. Not 3/5 And if you don't believe me, go ahead and view caliburforums.com and 8wayrun.com. That's a tourney standard for the past 6 years. AND it's a majoirty rule good sir

Makes sense, IMO, to have Grand Finals with more matches than Winners/Losers.

I guess hylian i could money match you now since you'recoming down anyways.... so what wasit 20 dollars? and if ray comes too 150$? Lol wow...

Hey kyle so we have to get there at eleven to registre and what if wejust wanted to play melee you have to wait until 4? :(
Wtf @ $150 MM with Ray? What is that about? That's just silly. Why would you want to risk that much against Rayz of all people? I want a money match...

And Kal, why do you say "hopefully not" about Austin coming? If he's free he'll be there. If we can't ride with you, I'll drive Austin and myself down there.

Man, I'm psyched about Melee and SC4. I'm going to win the Melee event! And if I lose, I'm just not playing good that day.

wtf why dont you want me to go or to hopefully not go?

Yeah, I'll be down there. I don't know about Austin, but I'd say "hopefully not."

And yeah, good luck beating Ray. I'd be very impressed if you beat him. Do you want to money match for $1?

Would housing be for fri-sat or sat-sun? If it's Friday, I might try and set that up. I lives 5 minutes from gamelot and I have enough space to hold my own tournys. But I'm 17 with parents that only let me do these if my grades in skool are high.

Hey Kyle, why is the payout 60/25/15? That's a strange payout structure.

I believe more tournaments should incorporate that specific payout structure due to splitting.

i believe kal, is that he's tring to let 3rd place feel as if they really won something. I mean, the worst he could actually do is 50/30/20.

I guess. But by taking 5% away from 2nd and putting it into 3rd, you're removing some of the incentive for trying to place 2nd instead of 3rd.

If you really want the money, you'd go for second place anyways, so long as it has more in terms of quantity.

There shouldn't be a problem otherwise.

I think people lose the concept of tournament payouts.

A tournament brings together the best of the best. By tearing through the brackets in order to place high should rest a reward (finals matches). These matches determine, out of all the best players, who should take first, second, third and so on. In the short term, people feel comfortable splitting first and second. However, while looking at the long term, a players expected value (measured in performance) can be maximized by taking advantage of the winners finals placing. In addition, less splits for first and second can determine a more definitive answer towards victor and loser. By splitting, top ranked players do not feel the clutch aspect which can hurt them in future OOC/OOS tournaments.

Kal: that may be true, but let's see. Would you rather have it taken it away from 1st and have it as 55/30/15?

personally i think it's fitting that 1st get's 60% regardless. but the 30/10 or 25/15 is ok. but also i feel as if as i stated earlier, i think he's trying to let 3rd place make it seem like it's worth winning too. Trust me, i've seen tournaments to where 3rd place won like $5 more than what he put in to begin with....

So just as long as it doesn't get more switched up than that, then i think it's ok
