LMAO. Foxlisk is passing the torch. I called him out for not reading and here he is calling somebody else out haha. This is also how **** spreads.
hell yeah. i love watching **** spread. also unrelatedly im pretty bummed we didnt get to play at p5... i remember seeing you and being like oh ****, that's kaostar we should play, and never getting around to getting some games in
either way harbinger, its a bad idea to just grab because u are expecting the shine...of course if its working then go for it, but dont expect it to work. If they catch on they will stop shining **** you up in your grab lag.
this is of course true but my answer remains correct to the actual question asked, which was, paraphrased, "how do you beat dair -> utilt on shield?" The answer is: grab, you're ****in fox, duh.
Holding away will shield DI you out of range of the uptilt and then u can roll, WD back, dash away etc. Trying to beat it will probably result in u getting combo'd
This is also pretty fair. If you're opponent is doing it in a way that you can't predict and just grab him out of, your most consistent second-choice is to shield DI it away and then rolld/jump/WD. I still think that if someone is aerial->utilting your shield you should just ****ing grab them, but this is a totally valid approach that is much more low risk->low reward than my high risk->high reward plan.

I'm sure this has been asked a million times, and I've already asked a top fox player for advice, however i want multiple opinions from top foxes about the Sheik matchup.

Sheik is my bane. I lose to Sheik players, no matter the distance in skill. I really can't take it anymore, so I picked up fox a while ago.

I have one match of my Fox up from tournament.

Fastforward to 08:40 for the fox match.

I think my Fox is pretty decent, so I just need to know what to do against Sheik.

Any top foxes feel like laying out the Sheik matchup for me? I would appreciate it tremendously.

Also, if possible, critique my one match for me. Thanks. :D

um or grab
i think he was talking about when falco dairs behind your shield and then utilts otherwise that would've been obvious

@mooney I don't see how posting a match of you ****** a falco is at all conducive to asking for critique about how you could fight sheik better >.>

shield di away against the down air and grab the shine. the range on falco's shine is piss poor. This **** works.
He didn't shine. He did a long hop (across), daired my shield and landed out of range for a shine so instead he utlit.

I guess il just roll on the other side.

there often isn't a mechanical response that will always trump certain positions/attacks/etc and it really comes down to simply being creative enough to make your opponent feel stupid for even trying.

fullhop falling uair out of shield is really good against things like that. experiment with it. if someone's going for unusual pressure, it's a good thing to try cause itll catch them off guard. and of course if it works, you landed an uair and can ****.

you can always crouch cancel the uptilt at low percents and shine/thunders if there is enough stage cause the uptilt will turn you around to face the opponent making the jab reset easier. wavedash OOS is probably the best option there in my opinion

**** dude manggos falco is so hard (namesearch dodge LOL.) the way he plays is so original i have to completely rethink my approach to the game when i face him. it's a refreshing experience but at the same time i feel like i'll never be able to beat him since i have to adjust so drastically to his style and he doesn't have to do the same to me.

it's like i'm entering a whole new world of melee that i can just barely understand, a world that he's been living in for like 2 years LOL.

neway i have some good vids from the tournament today, when finals get put up im prolly gonna ask for advice cuz i don't really know where to start vs. him lol.

lol @ reading a few pages from this thread.. plenty of hate :>

if you bait your opponent to shield grab you(certain match-ups) w/ a full shield if you approach with an aerial, do any of you foxes attack the back side of the shield barely outside grab range to l-cancel pivot grab?

i'd really like to play him, but from what i've heard hes not accessible to mid level players like me, if i'd ask him he'd prolly say some dumb stuff like "you're not ready" or what ever

This seems all too appropriate after reading lovage's psot.

Yes you kinda fight people's world when you play them. The stronger they are, the more BS they can pull on you. =P If you want epic battles then you fight me for example, haha.

Just got back from the tourney on ottawa.

Vwins and Raynex split.

I got 4th. Losing to Vwins 3-0 in WSF and Bam in LSF 3-2. I had a 2-0 lead vs Bam, also JV4 stocking him on FD game 2. Then he took me back, and I completely dropped the set. I'm not gonna talk about the johns. If anyone actually cares about that stuff, you can ask.

The matches are recorded and I hope they come up soon because they are gonna be pretty entertaining, even though I get *****.

Raynex did really well for himself. He almost had a 4-stock comeback vs Vwins' peach on FoD game 4.

Chesterr01 came to this and took a game of Raynex in pools. He kinda got ***** by me in the bracket though...(not recorded).

I also beat Kage 2-0 in pools (dunno why we were in the same pool but w/e). Also not recorded.

We didn't get to do that MM either or play friendlies, which disappointed me a lot.

There weren't enough TVs because of Brawl and we started melee way too late.. and ya obviously no time for MMs or friendlies, that was pretty annoying..
