The KDJ is actually apparently the M2K LOL. I said "KoreanDJ" when M2K did it to me in a friendly and he went, "No, I invented that **** exactly 5.5 months before KoreanDJ ever used it. He just used it in tournament so he became famous for it."

ok, i made up the "exactly 5.5 months" part but yeah

uthrow waveshine usmash is nice on spacies but it's definitely suboptimal. If I'm feeling adventurous I'll test the waters with it and see fi they tech the shine
if they do they'll always tech it. usmash instead.
In fox ditto's vs my friend I almost always tech the shine after the upthrow, but he get's a lot of the tech chases. So, if you're confidant in your read's and whatnot, it's still a decent option if the opponent techs it.

kind of late

but iirc lovage put it as

1) u-throw u-smash
+ most consistent option
+ good di traps with it
+ lump damage immediately
- almost always have to tech chase next option, and it can be harder than a normal tech chase if they di away

2) u-throw (let them not tech, expecting u-smash) jab reset uair
+ uair sets up better combos
- teching
- SDI up

^ though I think teching's significance can be reduced by properly reacting to the tech

i think they may be able to ASDI down at low percents and ground themselves, which can also complicate things

3) chain grab
+ always something to do after
+ guaranteed to work
- easy to mess up
- builds damage less quickly

I opened the video and I think you missed the first three up throw combos. If you're asking how to get better, practice. Fox can move out of the throw animation as soon as he puts his gun away (someone should get a frame image/date of this, vs. different characters, if at all possible.)

Go to training mode and try to combo the throw > up air vs. puff at varying percents. If all lasers hit the combo meter reads 6. Part of the trick is timing your double jump and the up air in a speedy manner. DI makes this harder, you can set the cpu to evade or practice with another player.

The other player doesn't need to play jiggs, just for the exercise have them pick jiggs and ask them to try and jump/rest/air dodge/DI/aerial/whatever out of your up throw until you a. get tired of trying or b. never miss.

you can dash / move out of fox's u-throw when he finishes lowering his arms

edit: Ruby, it's hard to say anything beyond technical stuff because tag is literally doing everything wrong lololol

escape lol

edit: You know when you upthrow spacies/sheik at low percent and they land on the platform and if they miss the tech you get that nice pretty upair combo?

well sometimes they will tech it and the most common tech is to the other side of the platform. but every time i upthrow someone onto a platform, i Upair the would-be miss tech and even when they tech away i just run and grab and continue to ****. anyone know if this is inescapable cuz i've had success with it vs pretty much everyone i've ever played? or is it that people are just slow moving out of tech animations?
about this, btw.

hey JPOBS, when you say you uair to hit the miss-tech, do you mean you do the uair as soon as possible? Or do you delay it a bit to cover tech in place?

I'm assuming you meant the former, and if you delay it a bit to cover the tech in place then there isn't enough time to run and grab the tech to the side like you were saying...?

He assumes they don't tech in place I think. It covers tech rolls and missed techs. I tried it against a friend but he techs in place every U-throw on a platform so it failed.

Yea, I just assume they will miss the tech. Most people will because its a quick throw anyway, so i upair immediately after the throw.

In the event they tech in place i just shine and work from there. But a lot of people will tech away in which case I run and grab and its worked for me for years lol

what do you guys think of clawing with fox? is it more efficient than the normal way?
I think that clawing is the best way to play the game. It gives you the ability to do certain things easier. However, it is by no means required that you claw in order to reach your potential. It's simply a different route to the same ends.

I use claw to ledge hop bair. I claw to do fast uairs with falcon. I use it to uthrow uair. I use it a lot with peach. If you claw comfortably, then by all means do it. I have a deep Halo background coming into SSBM so claw movements were pretty natural to me.

I know some people who claw and it seems to help them. I learned to do everything manually as I wanted to most comfortable position and motions for my hands. Clawing felt kind of cramped, although I did toy around with clawing the joystick since I never use L for anything. It had mixed results so ultimately I went back to my normal grip.

learned the claw recently. took like maybe a week to be comfortable with it and another month to be back up to my prior tech skill. i'm way more consistent with it and it makes things like shine -> platform wavelands easier to do very fast. i recommend it.

i only significantly notice claw helps me when i play peach, easier to FC aerials faster, and just control her float better too.

i find it easier to sh with fox. like i can do it with the normal grip but when im doing nair shine shield pressure and stuff i tend to slip up.

also makes it easier to wd out of shine immediately.

you jab so that they dont get knocked away by the nair. then u can grab and ****.

that's assuming they arent in cc percents.

but nair-> runn upsmash is neat as well

All things considered, the back-aerial, when combined with the neutral-aerial,
forms the core of Fox's modern aerial arsenal. Use both wherever applicable as
their strength, speed, and safety afford you options in a multitude of
situations.

from cunningkitsunes guide.

which situations is nair better than bair vice versa?
which has more range?

cheers.
