Regarding the "teams", most of the characters paired have very different playstyles too thus helping with the balance. For example, Zelda and Olimar are almost nothing alike aside from being at their best when their on the defensive side and if you can come up with more than two similarities between Metaknight and Captain Falcon, I'll give you a dollar.

Actually, it takes place on Saturday and Sunday, the 27th-28th, respectively. The first round unoffically begins next Sunday so people who want to get their first match over with early can before the deadline on Saturday at 4PM Central.

Because I see it as a form of quitting. Purposely SDing is only allowed if 1. you take your opponent with you with a "kamikaze attack" like with Ganondorf's flame choke, King Dedede's inhale or Wario's chomp (definately the hardest of the three to land) or 2. if you take down your opponent with another method but fail to recover. If you mess up pulling off these moves, you're still in the clear but purposely killing yourself if your opponent is 2 stocking you to force the match to end, for example, is bull and shouldn't be tolerated.

**** right. I'm pretty fortunate to play a character I play just as much as my other secondaries. He's pretty good, just not many know how good he is. Me and my friend play with him sometimes (he's obviously a better Captain Falcon then me lol)

By competitive smashing standards, if your opponent accidently dies, you take full advantage of the situation. Doing what you mentioned is fine in friendlies but it is far from the norm in competitive gaming as a whole. Sure, you can kill yourself in that situation if you want to but review rules 7, 8, and 9 if it comes back to bite you in the butt and cause you to lose the match.

Regarding lag, it will be dealt with accordingly. Unless the amount of lag is absolutely crippling, you are expected to play through it. Play at your own risk.

In competitive smashing, good sportmenship is defined as not "sandbagging" (AKA going easy on someone) and doing what your opponent would do to you in your situation. If chain grabbing your opponent to death with the Ice Climbers/King Dedede is your way to victory, do it. If your character has a grab release that completely ***** your opponent's character, do it. If winning involves spamming like a ****** and playing hit and run games, do it. In the end, it's best to assume that your opponent would do the same unless you know them on a personal level.
