omg, great advice, seems like a perfect person for me, also samusbrawler, ssure, when?
It doesn't matter, whenever you are ready. I can play now if you want. I can't really teach you anything, FMOI covered everything  So we'll just do some basic Zelda Practice, and I'll practice with my Marth and Samus.

Not to capitilize on Dabuz's abscence but would you like to play me for some general practice. I need to work on my Falcon for the tourney.

For sure! We can play today, after me and dabuz of course. And I just got a PM from someone saying they want to brawl me (who knew I'd have a waiting list of people that want to play me ) I'll PM you when I'm ready.

@dabuz, I'm getting on right now. You can host.

I'm in. Metaknight/Captain Falcon.

I should be able to play, depends on the schedule. These one day online tournaments are a pain =P

I only switched to ROB on castle siege because I didn't feel like being chain grabbed off the side ;0

... there's still 29 spots open. Why don't you just sign up?

Regarding Overswarm signing up, I may need to change my team... Mario and Lucario are both strong counters against Captain Falcon but Metaknight... Maybe I should go Ice Climber/Ike...

True, but what about that match on Smashville?

Isn't that worse? Plus isn't Lucario one of the better characters to use against MetaKnight?

Man, I'm trying to figure out if I should change my "team" or not. Snake, Yoshi, and Diddy Kong are the closest characters to counters despite all the matchups being 55-45 in MK's favor... MK can gimp Link at like 40%, ROB is pretty much screwed if MK gets him in the air, and Lucas gets completely overwelmed by Metaknight's aerial game... Bleh, maybe I should ban Metaknight all together.

@ Mmac: It's weird but the Ice Climbers and Ike are the only two characters I have ever beaten good Metaknights with. I don't know how but the situation is almost completely overwelming with everyone else. Lucario's effectiveness against Metaknight is heavily debated plus he's my third worst character...

But you are using those characters first remember. So you'll either lose the first match, then your second doesn't have to deal with MetaKnight, or you can just sacrifice a win (Or pray he screws up) on your second.

The way you have it, the Second usually doesn't factor with the first, but rather the Second.

Also I heard that Lucario does rather well against MetaKnight anyways

Chi-town, come at me
I was going to use Lucas for this tournamet but I'm horrible with Diddy so I went with the Falcon, so I can give you some good advice.

First allow some say it is not neccasary with Lucas you have to b-stick. Wavebouncing is one of the best retreats in the game. If you mix it up with a normal aerial pk fire it can become less predictable. However because of how laggy online is forget about zapjumping. Utilize magnet pull for good recovery. Try not to use shfairs because of lag upon landing. Dthrow to pk1 is an okay combo at low percents.

Thats all I can think of for now. If you want some help I could do some Lucas dittos with you.
Yeah sure dittos would be cool, ill probly be on tommorow for a while. i was mostly workin on gettin his recovery right today. now i need match ups and playstyle.

King Yoshi, I'll trade you my ROB for your Lucas
if only we could, i could do more with rob than lucas

True, I suppose... I just don't like the idea of my Mario getting his face handed to him in the first fight. Granted, I've come close to beating good Metaknights with most of the cast but I'd like to go into a match with more confidence than that if I'm going to be playing a professional.

Lucario is such a weird story. When the game came out, he was said to be a MK counter. Then a few months passed and then he was said to have a 30-70 disadvantage. Then, about two months ago, he was said to be neutral. Now, I think the matchup is 40-60 in MK's favor. *sigh* I guess I need to do some more research...

No one does well against Metaknight. Some just do less worse than others.

Here's some advice: play people who main a character you want to learn. Pick up their strategies if they are at least at your level and try making your own spins on them. Don't be afraid to experiment either. For example, when I play as Sonic, I like to do a sort of mindgame with people who don't recover directly to the edge. I calculate where they will land and then I lay a spring. If I lay it close to the edge, I can usually predict how they will respond to it. If they go the edge, they'll more than likely jump or try to roll past it. If they land on it, I try to counter them being thrown into the air. The floatier the character or the more predictible their aerial attacks are in this situation, the better it usually works. For example, it works really good against Zelda, Ganondorf, Luigi, etc.

That's actually a REALLY good point. Forcing a Zelda/Sheik player to ONLY play Zelda or Sheik is sort of like forcing someone to play Ice Climber or Nolimar (though to a lesser extent). What is the stance on a Sheik player - for instance - using Zelda's teleport to recover?

More specifically get DQ'd without any sympathy? Not pressing Down B accidentally is almost impossible for me. Since I whistle/pull out bombs alot LOL

And/or forcing Pokemon trainer to use one pokemon

But I suppose its because shiek and zelda are considered different characters since they're in different tiers

funny how squirtle, ivysaur and charizard, are not, (even though they clearly have different weaknesses, advantages, variations of play, and recovery methods), seperated into different tiers and evaluated differently.

And I dont see that it makes much sense Pokemon trainer can switch pokemon, but zelda/shiek cant transform into another

What happens If I accidently transform into shiek? D:
I'll set up a rule where both players stop and allow the Zelda player to transform back. If you continue to fight, it's a fault against you.

@ Sir Orion:

Zelda or Shiek by themselves is nothing like a lone Ice Climber or Olimar without Pikmen. Both characters can hold their own on their own and aren't handicapped. Meanwhile, Nana/Popo by themselves is fighting with only half your potentail and a craptastic recovery while Olimar without Pikmen is basically useless since the only attacks he can still do are nair, utilt, ftilt, jab, dtilt, and the whistle (to negate knockback if timed right).

Oh, ok, thanks I'm deeply thankful, and relieved

Ignore the complaint above, I was just worried about not being able to change back

Seems to be a lot of Olimar/zelda teams in this tournament, and Excellence entered too, hes too 1337 D:

It's because Pokemon Trainer HAS to switch, while Zelda/Sheik/Samus/ZSS etc. don't.

What I mean is that it's an arbitrary restriction that wouldn't be asked of a Zelda/Sheik during standard competition. How much of a restriction is subject to debate, but it is a restriction nonetheless.

I added the new rule on the front page. Also, I've only played Excellence once. I two stocked him with my Mario and then we played a ton of team matches together against tmac and scimitar. We lost a majority of the matches and I ended up being the last one standing on our team in every match except for like two. I'd like to play him again sometime though.

@ Add in:

Actually, this is the event where I met scimitar and invited him to Geno Bash after a ton of back to back insults.

IMO, the problem with allowing a free transformation is that its possible to abuse it, unless you're allowed to attack them on them changing back, it seems like it would be more fair to punish them for changing, even if its accidentally, seeing as it IS against the rules, after all
