ahhh i was at a tourney this weekend and I squandered pools and got 4th seed, then had to play Tink first round, then fought my way through loser's to 4th. my performance has inspired me to drop Yoshi and concentrate on Doc again 100% to be in top form for Pound 4

i need to beat eighteenspikes with my marth this weekend and i want to know what his strats are gonna be ahead of time

Use Luigi. It's Doc's worst matchup.

haha well kinda, I was on the roof at one point, but when luni ran in screaming "EVERYONE GET OUT HERE EIGHTEENSPIKES JUST CLIMBED ON THE ROOF" that was some other guy, I was actually playing yoshi dittos waaaaay back in the corner. i was pretty confused lol

Ah man, I gotta hop back on this guide, havent hit it up in like, the past 2 days.

Been all over Namco X Capcom, messin 'round in melee and sf4, and just started playing Dokapon Kingdom, tryin this game out.

This game looks mad fun with some people who'd be willing to play it. Im gunna take it over to my friend's house and talk some maaaaaaaaad trash. Hopefully I'll knock out another matchup or 2 by then. XD

Why do we care about balance? It's not like WoW or something where you have to commit to leveling a character. You can be whoever.

plus, this kind of balanced means nerfed top tiers (And Mario), which also means comparatively better low tiers (Doc).

iirc he's lighter.

I don't see how that would be automatically associated with a nerf, since being slightly lighter means you probably get more out of DIing away and thus comboed slightly less hard, but then you also get KOed slightly easier so oh well.

Yeah I've heard he was lighter but its INCREDIBLY insignificant. IIRC in NTSC Doc/Mario both weight 100 (100 what, idk, just 100(pds maybe?)), and in Pal Doc weights 100 and Mario weights 98. I dont think that counts as a nerf, its almost too small to matter.

If you're referring to this then yes.

PAL was a step in the right direction. They nerfed the stupid, abuseable things that needed to be nerfed (Sheik's dthrow, Falco/Marth dair) but then they nerfed a bunch of random stuff like Yoshi's dair. Top tiers are still far and away better than everybody else though.

Like I don't know if those were bad decisions or what. I thought about going mute city cuz that's my ish but the one fox destroyed me on mute city at this other tourney so I got scurred.

Well I cp'ed fountain of dreams against both spacies and got supremely messed up against the fox. I picked FD against the marth and got destroyed. Like I don't know if those were bad decisions or what. I thought about going mute city cuz that's my ish but the one fox destroyed me on mute city at this other tourney so I got scurred.

Well, the first part of CPing actually comes from being able to evaluate a match on the fly.

Do you know what, if anything, caused you to lose? Was it a specific tactic that you can stop or fight better on a specific stage, or did you just get outplayed. Is there a stage that would work well for you against a specific character or not? Is there a stage that you don't want to or cant go to because of your opponent's tactics and habits.

What do you like playing on? Will that work for you here or not?

Aside from the blatantly obvious, CPing beyond that really comes down to a person by person, match by match case.

For example, I myself would never think of taking a spanimal, or really ANY character to FoD because I (think) I'm horrible at it. It doesnt work towards my strats, and at times it hinders my chaingrabbing.

FD vs Marth? That's pretty much my default CP, Corneria being second, and having to think about the previous match(es) if neither are availble. Somebody probably will come behind me and say FD vs Marth is the worst idea in the world. If I remember right, I think 18s will because he says you absolutely need platforms. We don't play anything alike.

So all in all, the huge trick to CPing is realizing there ISNT a trick and just being able to figure out what went wrong and what will help you out.

There are some blatantly obvious CPs (like taking ICs to a moving stage), but doing stuff like taking Peach to Dreamland isnt a horrible idea at all, as long as it works how YOU want it to. (I personally will fight a peach all day on dreamland before I do it on YS)
