I don't suppose there is anyway the format can be changed from 4 man pools and top 2 make it out. I'm hesitant to register because I don't want to go to the tourney and just get 3 games in. I've never heard of national smash tourney doing 4 man pools before, isn't there a better solution?

You can go to EVO and go 0-2 and be out of the tourney completely...

To seriously answer the question, its looking like pools is going to be at least 5-6 people first round anyway so its not a big deal.

itll be hard dude but just try your best, go for the experience not for the prize $$
Last I checked, Merk was not a dude...

Hey now. Ima be upset if/when I lose no matter what.

But a rational logical thought process should let you realised that if you take all the best players from your region, tristate, texas, canada, md/va, cali, Michigan, Georgia, Europe, AND Japan and then add in the really good people from lesser known regions like San, and Hunger AND relatively unknown people with the capacity to surprise you (see: iLove from Pound V) and its obvious that theres going to be some REALLY good players that dont make it out of pools, much less getting to top 32.

As it stands now making it to bracket is an accomplishment no matter who you are.

As far as Im concerned, theres only like... 10 people max that I expect to make brackets no matter what. Pretty much everyone else could catch an unfavorable pool and a quick exit.
wooooO! suck my WI

*incoming infraction....worth it*
