And because of that I have a feeling that the seeding staff is going to cater to the international players, so that they will return. (Why would they come back if 90% can't make it out of pools?)

I just have a bad feeling about apex....and after apex 2010's **** show of pools. I'm lead to believe that maybe it will happen again. All I'm saying is to not be surprised if Apex 2012 is not seeded as "fairly and non biased" as you might be thinking it will be.
Im an international player and i was in your death pool with brood/anti/vex, i dont see how they catered to me. If anything its harder for an international player to place at these events because we are seeded unusually low. I think pools will be a lot more fair this year and as Alex and his staff are aware of our skill levels and more and more under the radar players are getting exposure. Plus if you get merked in pools just drown your sorrows in booze like i did after Brood spanked me lol

Its true that you ARE international. But I was referring to players not from the US/Canada

Why are you worrying about that?

You should be practicing so you dont drown in pools.

Honestly though. Why does that matter to you?

does it matter where its going? Theres a pot bonus for every game if i recall correctly (at least AE/UMVC3/MK9 there are last I heard), the actual pot money is in no danger of being used for anything except payouts. They are going to have raffles for free stuff including 3DS, alot of international players are coming, and paying for any stream/advertising/website information

If everyone is getting paid on top of raffles for free stuff and pot bonuses, and the venue is covered, does it matter where any extra money, if any, went?

I dont think I could be a TO for a national tourney all everyone does is ***** about every single aspect on a daily basis

Edit: maybe its just smash, I don't see nearly as many people care in the FGC for EVO

Its not just that. I'm curious to know where the money is going
You aren't on staff and therefore aren't entitled to know anymore then anyone else, nothing shady is going on here but you're delusional if you don't think the hosts of this even who have gone above and beyond to make this perfect are not entitled to some compensation. The money is helping cover expenses and whatever else is needed to help this event go off without a hitch.

Its just seems like they have a large source of income with a smaller amount of costs. Is it wrong for me to ask where the money is going? Should I just assume that they are not making a considerable profit on this tourney? If so, I guess I could get used to the life of a mindless drone.

So what if they are? just don't go
I'm the consumer. I'm entitled to know where my money is going.

All I wanted to know was that there would be no bias in seeding of pools and where my money was going. So I gave an argument to why I would be concerned. Is it wrong for me to have concerns?

Your concerns are...nitpicky. You dont have those concerns because you are worried about payout for the players or something not getting paid. You just want to know where its going

I mean, when I buy a videogame or go to a concert, I'm not asking them where the money goes. I got what I paid for, so I'm good. So what if they make some sort of profit? Do you think they shouldn't, for all the hard work that they've done?

Just different mindsets I guess. I'm done talking about it though

To an extent yes, you have a right to know and you've been told. Can you explain to me why they shouldn't be compensated well? Considering you've never ran an event with more then 20 people I don't expect you to have any idea how much work, time and effort goes into running the organizing an event of this scale prior to the day. Their compensation being after they've bought all the additional equipment needed for this years event, paid for the venue, paying out all the staff, the giveaways being held, trophies and anything else that may come up.

As far as seeding goes it'll be done as fairly as possible, except my pool, ShippoFoxFire, TonyT, MechWarrior and myself, deal with it.

Mikeray.

If you put countless hours into organizing an international tournament, not to mention possibly losing sleep and being stressed the **** out the 3 days of the event, wouldn't you want to get paid for it at least?

TOs should be paid for work they put into tournaments, especially one as big as this.

I only ran a tournament of 20-30 people once and it wasn't even me that had to find a venue and organize tables/tvs and all that stuff.. and I thought it was mildly stressful, I mean to get the people to play and all that. I can't imagine that x100.. I think they should at least get something out of it.

Anyways, Kid, do you want to MM in Melee?

The most annoying part about TOing is arguably when people are constantly trying to see the bracket, and switching between events the moment you get up to go do something. As soon as I figure out how to get the labtop linked the projector properly in the venue I use(have had issues trying every time so far xD) I'm putting the damn bracket on the projector so people leave my laptop alone :(

The quality of this event will speak for itself, and therefore you will see where the money is going.

Whatever, I'll drop the whole small pool thing, if more people aren't up in arms about it I don't see why I should be.

M@v: that doesnt help because if the event is more than like... 25 peolpe, you wont be able to keep the entire bracket on one screen, which means people are going to come up to you cpu anyway to move the screeen around

Cris: Good answer.

Merk: I like that mindset, itll be amazing. dont even worry. also, we should play.

Kage: I dont know how I feel about handing you my money. But with as much as Im going to be getting from all these other bums, I guess I dont mind playing you. lol. At the very least I think im good enough to not get double 4 stocked again like I did at the first apex lol.

Kid, I'm guessing you were sarcastic with that statement to Merkuri lol. He's missing out on much glory clearly. I mean you don't follow other people, you make other people follow you instead. =) Anyways, if you don't want to MM that's fine too, we can just play for fun, I just like to MM everyone.

I'm not saying they shouldn't be paid for what they are doing.

I'm saying since I am not only attending but also volunteering I would like to know the expenses and the revenues from this tournament.

Lets all just go to this tourney and have a great time. Smashers from all over the world are gonna be here! It's gonna be too cold to play tag like at genesis 2 but I know some amazing fun things will occur!! :)

Still not sure I'm going. I'm one of those who only register on the last day(lol) so we'll see on the 31st. But if I do then yeah.

:glare: You don't have to be a good player to want to be played by someone. Geesh, aren't warriors supposed to have some etiquette?

No but you certainly have to be an awesome person for everyone to want to do that. Warriors don't have etiquette, only the cold hard truth right in your face.

Last I checked you dont get to know the entire payment structure of the salvation army just because you volunteered to ring the bell in front of a Wal-Mart, but hey, do you.
