It certainly wasn’t a good idea back then, but Raiden over snake in playstation all-stars actually feels like it was a good decision with a modern perspective.
I’m not just saying this because snake is in smash and I’m not trying to say rising has more relevance than all the other mgs games but I think it can be cool when games include popular or unique characters over the most relevant main characters that are more relevant to the series. Not always though, but this is what I think is a good example of it…
or at least it would be if PSASBR was after rising released and raiden wasn’t a shill pick

Imagine being an SFV player interested in picking up Smash but knowing nothing about other platform fighters, and going on Smashboards to research the game before seeing one of the Real Monsters on the front page news section, then scrolling down to the profile posts to be greeted with Wario-themed philosophical thought and fursuit selfies.
