A character I think would have a really interesting effect on the speculation scene is PaRappa the Rapper. He is, in my eyes, the one character who would most clear as day illustrate "Smash is no longer just about Nintendo." as not only is he owned by Sony with no Nintendo appearances, but there is also a relatively popular Nintendo IP with the same genre and a similar aesthetic to PaRappa. PaRappa would also break a lot of Smash fans out of the console war trance of Nintendo being the "only innovators" and "the only ones who don't make gritty shooters all the time" given how historically significant PtR is to gaming and its cute, silly style.

Thinking more about Get it Together I'm starting to see the playable characters less as a homogeneized gamestyle and more another gimmicky control scheme a la touch controls, tilt controls, motion controls, so on, which is a way better way to view it IMO.

There was never a "big 4" or "unbreakable team" of Smash requests. Not everyone who wanted Ridley also wanted K. Rool, not everyone who wanted K. Rool also wanted Banjo, not everyone who wanted Banjo also wants Geno. Outside of some surface level similarities between K. Rool & Banjo and K. Rool & Ridley there is absolutely nothing tying these characters together beyond "they were on Nintendo consoles in the 90s and don't appear much nowadays" and no reason one can't join without the others.

For some reason a lot of entitled gamers, platformer fans especially, are under the misconception that nobody (other than racist 12 year olds) likes gritty brown shooters, or the developers making them don't care... like, no. That's not how it works.

There's plenty of genres I don't like but I would never accuse an entire genre of being disingeneous cash-grabs. We haven't had a homogeneity problem in games since the PS3 days.

Everyone talks about how heavy and radical the leftist political themes of Mother 3 are, but let's not forget that Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland is about how capitalism is slavery. It's not subtle or even an allegory of any kind, the plot of the game is literally just "capitalism is slavery."

I'm starting to understand why there aren't any Spirits from this game.

Reminder in the midst of E3 hype: game companies owe you a quality product, nothing more, nothing less. Microsoft does not owe you Banjo-Threeie, Nintendo does not owe you F-Zero DX, Sony does not owe you Jak and Daxter 5, and frankly if they did, the aforementioned series would be worse off for it. Nobody wants to make or play a game solely produced out of obligation.

Why wouldn't you have a Spirit for Buzzy Beetle? What possible reason is there to not include it, and what possible way is there that they could forget it?
