Bullying CD Projekt is uncalled for, but I honestly don't see a problem with criticizing Cyberpunk's current gen version.

Well, you don't get to decide that. You can grab the item and it ends up being a squeaky hammer and you die because of it, you lose. Then if your opponent grabs it and it enes up not squeaky, you can end up up losing and dying anyway. The very fact that you suggest not immediately going for the hammer because it can be unreliable is proof enough that consistency is key because the item itself is so inconsistent.
Not everyone finds randomness fun. That is subjective and preferential. Even if they did, they could always just play other games that more accentuate that like Mario Party and yet you'll notice, nobody really enjoys minigames where it's all luck and no skill.
