Maybe this is me being British speaking, but a lot of 1P Smash discourse in relation to "iconic factor" feels like "game 10 people played vs. game 5 people played". I don't think the difference between Metroid and Chibi-Robo in popularity is all too significant.

So, we can all agree that either Morrigan or Felicia is the mascot of Darkstalkers, right? They weren't intended as such, that was Dimitri, but they were the ones who resonated with the public. You could argue a similar situation about Sans, Undertale used Flowey for promo stuff back in the earliest days.
So... does that mean these guys are all retroactively... and INHERENTLY the main protags of their games?

So like... do Clippy detractors have third eyes? I get actual arguments against Bubsy and mooks, I have never recieved an argument against Clippy once semantics are overcome, just vague gesturing to some kind of common truth I'd surely be aware of.
It really sucks that every discussion of Clippy in Smash has to devolve into semantics absolutely nobody would be discussing if Clippy was from the DS Browser or something 1P like that.

While I'm not the biggest fan of how Smash Remix handles its boss classification, I won't lie that "Slippy Toad is the ultra-secret all-powerful boss character" is probably the most on-point primordial-internet-rumor thing in the entire mod.

The only essential Smash characters are Jigglypuff and Duck Hunt. Kill not the part of you that is biased, but the part of you that is objective.

Smash Remix Melee Green Greens took one of the most forgettable casual Smash stages and turned into probably the funniest psuedo-competitive stage ever.
I am a strong side special hater, but also I think that both NASB1 and Smash 64 (including Remix) have nowhere near enough horizontal movement specials.
