God of War Ragnarok is probably the biggest example I can think of where ballooning game budgets really negatively affected a game. So many of it's problems would have been fixed if it was two games instead of one with a couple of years between them, but given the amount of money and time a release now takes everything felt crammed into one game and it made for a very bloated game.
It’s genuinely hard to imagine someone in a board room at Nintendo saying “yeah I’m sure we can trust 10,000 strangers to keep a secret about our games” but I guess it happened???

The fact that Dragon Ball Z was never it’s own manga feels weirder to me when I realize there wasn’t actually a break longer than a week between the OG and Z “eras” of the manga. The idea of breaking the series in two was just completely arbitrarily decided for how monumental it was to its success in certain places. I mean it turned out to be the best place to make that distinction but still!
I tried Prime as a joke today. I think it’s slightly better than Gatorade but it’s not like taste is the primary thing people drink Gatorade for.

I love it when God of War has stupid anime bull****. Like the entirety of the first Baldur fight or when Ares chucks a pillar across an entire desert with enough pinpoint accuracy that it hits Kratos right in the heart. It’s so funny given the general tone of the series.

I’m playing the first God of War and I randomly remembered David Jaffe’s Metroid Dread “beef”. A lot of people used Jaffe’s really idiotic reasoning for hating Dread to bash God of War as a shallow experience but the thing is, those games (or at least the first one) have a lot of more deep, subtle puzzles/design that’s not explicitly told to you, and Jaffe doesnt like the modern games where puzzles are more straightforward . Judging by Jaffe’s Metroid Dread gameplay he’d probably get stuck a lot in God of War if he didn’t design the thing.
It guess the point is, that situation didn’t really follow the nintendo good playstation bad team sports narrative people ascribed to it, it’s kinda nostly just that David Jaffe sucks lmao. There’s also the possibility he didn’t design as much of God of War as he gets credit for but it’s not really easy to speculate on that without much knowledge.

I had a dream I was watching a random episode of the Batman animated series in theatres. I remember Bizarro being there for some reason and also the Joker wore Waluigi’s hat.
The screen kept shrinking and shrinking and my seat moved around.I also got absolutely terrified by the theatre in my dream and I don’t know why.
I’m very disappointed because I thought Baka Mitai had a Wikipedia page, in reality they just listed it on the “songs made for video games” page for some reason.
