Champion of Hyrule

Its like almost two weeks into the new year so this might be a little late but I got in the mood to make a big sentimental post and I think 2023 was the best year I’ve had so far.

I met a ton of people at my school who I’ve become very good friends with and still semi regularly talk with today and it feels really nice as someone who has sort of had trouble finding/fitting into friend groups. I actually feel like I genuinely like and care about my school and those relationships feel a lot more permanent than they did before even when school was done. For the first time I felt comfortable to say I love you casually to friends. I even did a sappy little thing where I stayed up til 2 AM writing notes about every person in one of my graduating classes, and how I liked working with them. I graduated this year so there’s all the bittersweet feelings that comes with that but I am pretty glad to be out of there.

Of course there’s also all of you guys! I feel like I connected with people on this site way more and at times when I was feeling down or inactive it felt really nice to be able to go on my phone and essentially just start up a conversation. It gave me a lot of confidence in real life too and made my identity feel just a little bit more defined so thank you all so much for that.

I also did a couple plays through school or university which I really enjoyed and was part of the reason I got so close to some friends. I hope everyone can feel some joy in their life equal to the joy of being in a guys only musical number in a musical, it’s so rare literally everyone cheers as loud as they possibly can it’s great. This year I’ve also been out of my city for more than a week on two occasions, one was my first time leaving the country since 2017. So travelling like that felt really freeing especially since I’m at the age where I can do a lot of stuff independently. My parents also made really close friends with some people from the UK while travelling so hey maybe we’ll go there this summer too.

It wasn’t literally perfect because there was still plenty of moments I felt unsure of myself but there will always be those moments, overall 2023 felt like a lot of things in my life that were building up finally paid off, and now it’s time to build back up again.
