Since I posted about it yesterday, I should mention that the sequel to Don't Copy That Floppy, made to cash in on it's meme popularity, is hella messed up - it shows a teenager's completely innocent parent get falsely thrown into prison because her daughter pirated movies, and then another teenager getting abused in prison (well, not really, moreso people playing ring-a-ring-a-roses using mops around him) - hmm, I don't think piracy is the pressing issue we should be tackling here. Don't Copy 2 doesn't even explain the effects of piracy like Don't Copy 1, as fallacious as a lot of it's points was, tried to.
Also, it just isn't as catchy as the original.

For how much he hyped it up as "his most insightful review yet", Saberspark's Balto video was really disappointing IMO - the info on the real Balto was fascinating and I enjoyed his insight on the first film, but once he got into the second film he just started doing the standard angry reviewer shtick, with all the historical info on the sequels' production being speculative.
If EAC was a real game - specifically SSBU deluxe - I think people would immediately be able to tell it was outsourced to Westerners, moreso than any other Ultimate-sequel-related creation thread.
The popularity of Gir from Invader Zim is so surreal to me. Like, imagine if SpongeBob was cancelled after a season and a half of terrible ratings, but GIFs of Squidward became so popular with grumpy atheists on MySpace that Nickelodeon just started pumping out Squidward kigurumis and "I Really Wish I Wasn't Here Right Now" buttons without making any new content.

When I hear the name "Kalos", I don't think "Pokemon version of France", but instead "A square with two thin rectangles to the left and right of it". Pokemon Y was the second game I ever beat without cheats.

I read the Wikipedia article about Flappy Bird and saw an unsourced statement that the bird's name is "Faby". I thought this was a funny Julius Pringles misinformation moment, but then I looked it up and there actually is a legit source they just didn't link. Very disappointed.

Wikis that are written as if they're wikis from the universe in question are annoying as hell. Would it kill you to just put a "Played by..." or "first appearance..." in the infobox? I don't want to scroll down to the "behind the scenes" section.

remember when the last nintendo direct was announced and everybody on this site was just like "ok" while one of the mods was spamming sakurai gifs to try and drum up hype for the corporation they don't work for.
It really annoys me how it seems my generation of 00s/10s kids have completely neglected learning from the mistakes of 80s/90s kid fandom, and also chosen to extend the generational wars into an attack on earlier generations of nostalgia too.
I like the idea of an Amingo-style OC fighter in Smash in concept, but given how Smash has handled original worlds and characters in the past, I'd rather not risk it. Maybe something more Sonson-adjacent, a new character from an existing universe, could work well under Sakurai though.
I'm generally not one to get mad at "mischaracterization" - I actually love how people can take one thing, and twist it into their own different thing - but god damn, I hate seeing every single silent game protagonist homogenized into a "uber-talented ultra-powerful badass" and having their silence interpreted diegetically.

I have never been as equally "I love this" and "I hate this" about a game than I have about Mouse, On one hand, I think "evil Mickey" is really overdone and IMO they should've gone for either a different species or a different style of drawing mouse ears; and I'm just not really an FPS guy unless it's on-rails - but on the other hand, the combination of 30s cartoon styles and 30s gangster stories is absolutely perfect; 2D sprites on 3D backgrounds always hits well for me; and it's great to see more 100% black & white games out there - I especially like how they didn't pull a Madworld and make the blood red. (not that Madworld looks bad or anything, just that red blood would look out of place in this specific game)
I watched a video essay about the Wiggles a while back, and assumed it was satire because of the melodramatic tone of voice the videomaker had... now, I've watched the Defunctland Wiggles video and I realise that they were 100% correct.

The Gimmick NES port has the corny Scandinavian art as a selectable border. EOTY (emulation of the year) material for that alone.

Saying this as a noob so I'm probably completely wrong here, but I'm surprised Mike is the one people find OP in Speedstorm and not Belle - Mike's doors are easy to avoid, but Belle has an extremely fast boost charge, and gets double boosts basically every other box

I dislike when people make fanmade "Captain N reboots" but then have the characters act and look as close to the source material as possible. Like, hell no, at that point it just isn't Captain N anymore, just a Smash story mode.

Speedstorm is fun. No CTR, but what is? Monetization is rather intrusive and unfortunately features lootboxes instead of just purchasing characters - I have a feeling I'll be stuck with just Mickey, Donald, and Baloo for a while - but I do like that they let you trial other characters every now and then. The whole "epic gamer" aesthetic gels a lot better with me than I expected. The promo art and short trailer snippets don't do the tracks themselves justice, they're a lot more true to their source material than you'd think. Weirdly, the game rewards you more for single player story mode than online play? -
