If there was to be another trio Pokémon Trainer in Smash, I don't think they should be a named character/gym leader or protag, but rather a generic trainer class. Give me a Breeder with Riolu; Igglybuff; and Charmader as semi-clones of their evolved selves, a Bug Catcher with Scizor; Heracross; and Ariados, a Youngster with a Zubat; Pidgey; and Rattata trio, someone like that.

I'm listening to Mr. Enter's top 20 worst theme songs rant, but visualising it as him getting mad at someone jamming out to the songs on loop on giant speakers like a literal non-metaphorical interpretation of the "stop having fun" meme - and the parts where he plays the song uninterupted to demonstrate being the gigachad playing the music turning it up to drown his rants out.
I've wanted to do a "Smash but every character gets exactly one home stage" roster for quite a while, but the one thing standing in my path has always been Fire Emblem. I was thinking of assigning "Others" stages to FE, but other than Golden Sun and maybe an AR Games Dragon stage I don't think there's any that fit. (I'm not using Streetpass Quest. It's a fun reference but god it looks visually bland.)
I got a mod for Melee that turns Falco into Dodrio and now I really want Dodrio in Smash. The punch attacks being turned into pecks looks so damn cool
I've said this before, but it'll always be sadly hilarious to me that when putting Kid Icarus content in Brawl, they broke the "no final levels" rule specifically for the game that begins dark and gets happier as it goes on.
I honestly feel being boss'd is the worst fate for a potential Smash character, especially in Ultimate which doesn't even have a boss battles mode, since they don't even get to appear in battles like an AT, but have way more (IMO, needless) work put into them than a Spirit or Trophy.
I just found out the Peter fighting Sans with a keyblade as the Halberd explodes image was an NFT and I feel betrayed.
HBO Max removing a majority of the films from the single most iconic franchise on it feels emblematic of the service's state as a whole.

I do have an idea for the Sonic equivalent in the Another Universe thread - it is an existing character, but not some comically obscure character from the Sonic universe like my Mario replacement submission is.
I feel like there's more characters in Smash I can imagine Waluigi being a clone of than there are ones I can't.

Now I think about it, the weird Subspace "all the trophies know is fighting" thing could've worked if nobody got along at the start - not even DK and Diddy or the Trainer and his Pokémon - and the story would've revolved around them slowly gaining advanced emotions; discovering things they value; and turning into the heroes they were made in the images of as they take down a greater threat. Maybe even have a cheesy cute ending where they meet the canonical originals Melee-classic-trophy-style and shake hands or something
I honestly wouldn't mind a new Smash doing what Fortnite does with art styles where if a game was 2D it's cel shaded and if it's 3D it's rendered in a slightly stylised but still very 3-dimensional look - mostly because I love the idea of fully detailed characters on a cel-shaded background.
I had a dream a few days ago where I went to Mexican restaurant (it looked like - of all things - Bubsy's house from the cartoon pilot) and it illegally used Mappy as a mascot - there was a giant flat screen HDTV hooked up to an Atari 2600 with a really bad homebrew port of Mappy on it.
I've been playing modded Melee lately, primarily with items on and such, and while I do overall think Melee feels better to play than it's successors, I will admit that attacks in it feel really flimsy compared to 64 and the later games - though I can't place my finger on why, or if that's even a bad thing. Maybe once/if I get a hang of Melee's combo system I'll enjoy it better. Definetly not a fan of air dodge vulnerability - did Ultimate have that? Been so long since I played that I can't remember.
I hope the new Another Universe thread has a good balance between recontextualised existing characters and new concepts.

I love this Sonic Forces render so much, it looks like Tails is scolding a 6 year old for eating all the cookies.
When you Google "sonic forces tails render" the first results are all crude edits of it that make his eyelids slightly perk up and nothing else.
The Subspace lore is nonsensical - "the trophies were built for fighting, and all they know is fighting" is the one that just fundamentally destroys the world for me - then why do they have the outfits of plumbers and princesses instead of fighters? How are we supposed to feel bad when the ROB civilisation crumbles if all they've ever known is fighting - scratch that, how was there even a ROB civialisation in the first place if all it knows is fighting? Why is Lucas so anxious if all he knows is fighting? How is there a zoo if all the inhabitants know is fighting - do they watch monkeys fling crap and bet on it? How do characters build bonds or have morals, let alone be able to betray them? What makes Wario or Ganondorf any worse than Dedede and Luigi - if bad at all - if this world is inherently filled with warmongering zombies?
Tomorrow's DriDim jobs will be huge.

I'm watching the latest Peanut Butter Gamer video, and the concept of "Five Nights at Hooters" fills me with a primal dread.

I don't get why people think corporations hold long-standing grudges against other corporations. No, a near-30-year-old Super Bowl advert where a guy in a cheap Sweet Tooth costume throws a Pikachu plushie into a woodchipper doesn't factor in to why Kratos isn't in Smash.

I had a dream where BBC News started doing classic Mr. Enter-style angry reviews of bad SpongeBob episodes in hopes of recapturing the internet-bound youth audience.
I love how low key (tonally, not musically) the credits theme of Luigi's Mansion 1 is, it gives me less of the "you're the ultimate hero! woo! let's celebrate, peace and prosperity are here!" vibe that I get from most Mario credits, and more of a "life's back to normal, let's go back home and get dinner." vibe, which has always been a more rewarding style of ending to me. -
